Karlie Kloss Covers Vogue UK September 2012

Karlie Kloss. Haven’t we talked about her the other day? Ah, yes, when I was convinced that she’s the new Barbie in town. And don’t get me wrong, I still feel the same way, it’s just this childish cover styling that’s got me all confused!

Vogue UK September 2012 doesn’t brag about quality but about quantity: “Biggest Issue Ever”. It is sad to watch how the Olympics get drained of all their meaning and symbolism, of all the hard work that’s going into the Games and translated into biggest issue ever!

Oh, and not to mention the lack of inspiration: using Karlie Kloss for Vogue UK’s Fashion Olympic moment? Hello?! Haven’t you seen Vogue US’ Sports issue? With Karlie? This is sad. (although I’m a positive spirit and I still have faith that the inside content will deliver,) This is dishonoring for the spirit of the Olympics, for Karlie’s modeling immense potential and for the fashion legend of Vogue. (echoing from the caves of fash – hope.. vogue, ogue, gue…)

First Look At Blake Lively’s Gucci Premiere Film By Mert And Marcus

We saw the picture, it’s about time we enjoyed a preview of Blake Lively’s Gucci short film for the Gucci Premiere ad campaign! I wasn’t expecting Blake to go shooting or speeding on a virtual highway like Rachel Evan Wood (who, as we all know, is a rebel through and through, getting her nose pierced and bravely facing the pain with just kitten moans is proof enough! At least for me.)

Naturally, Blake, who was designated to be the next big Hollywood star when Anna Wintour put her on Vogue’s cover, is a star in Gucci Premiere’s campaign too. She’s looking like a diva and she behaves like a Diva! Now I’m really curious what plot they invented for the soul purpose of promoting a new perfume! (I kept looking and expecting Green Lantern…ahem Ryan Reynolds to pop up somewhere and sweep her off her feet with his lantern…ahem smile!)

(oh, and Mert and Marcus are responsible for the print visuals, Nicolas Winding Refn is the short film’s director while the music is reportedly M83 Midnight City (you can hear it right after the jump, to put an audio to the 25 seconds of video preview).

Karlie Kloss Covers Vogue Japan September 2012 In YSL Metal Chain Dress

Stefano Pilati’s last collection for Yves Saint Laurent was really beautiful and, dare I add, fierce! (although the word has lost its effect due to extensive usage) The metal chain dress was, for me, instant catwalk crush!

And I know it’s just fashion, but it’s like Pilati created this shield – like dress to protect himself from what was coming (and this cover title, “Dark Victory” – interesting much?) Either way, Karlie Kloss wears the dress well, much like Charlize Theron who delighted me in her Fassbender W show off!

I wish more images were available, but let’s enjoy the first September cover this year: Vogue Japan September 2012 as photographed by Mikael Jansson!

Louis Vuitton’s Polka Dots Yayoi Kusama Collection

I’ll always be fascinated by how Marc Jacobs finds and defines his style. While he seems to be the complete opposite of exclusivist Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs’ keeps adding step after step on the pedestal of his popularity. His name only goes up and his designs only go off of the racks. I think.

Or at least that’s what he’s aiming to do with every collection. Now he’s into some polka dots craze and because he wasn’t convincing enough on his own, he engaged 83yo Yayoi Kusama, an eminent Japanese artist, in his fashion endeavors.

Vogue Italia’s Goth Cover July 2012

When I started talking about magazines covers going dark and lacking the joyful shine of the summer issues the other day, I had Vogue Italy’s July 2012 cover in mind. The absolute goth of it is haunting and not necessarily in a bad way.

The models, who are relatively unknown, contribute to the freshness supported and promoted by Vogue Italia through their various cover – initiatives (let us not forget that Vogue Italia did an all black issue in 2008, something that, as far as I know, wasn’t, even up to this day, leveled by any other edition of Vogue ). Julia Nobis, Linda Fox, Elena Bartels, MacKenzie Drazan, Vanessa Axente – these are your goth fashion witches! Care to ride with them?

Not Your Average Fashion House Logo

It’s been a while since we’ve had our last good fashion laugh, huh? Here’s what I found for us (consider it a Hump Day delight, if you wish): fashion brands logos with a twist. Some are good, some are brilliant, but they’re all perfectly in trend! After all, it’s not us who wanted YSL changed into SLP (Saint Laurent Paris)! Let’s join Hedi Slimane and blow some wind of change in that YSL rebranding cake, shall we?

Alexander McDuchess? How cool is that? And Mary Kantpronounce (I honestly had troubles in spelling her name a couple of times – Mary Katrantzou is not for trained fashionistas only!); as for Choupette – it goes without saying, it’s my favorite! (not to mention that Hermes was recently exposed as burning their imperfect bags). Which one do you like? Hit the jump for more!

Emma Stone Talking About Her And Her Vogue Pictorial

Talking with you about Emma Stone’s Vogue July 2012 cover taught me one important thing – not smiling doesn’t necessarily mean not happy. As I always looked at Emma Stone as a happy person, I was under the impression that, because she wasn’t laughing ear – to – ear, she was teary eyed and sad.

Which, judging from the video below, couldn’t be more wrong! Emma talks about her experience with Vogue for the Mario Testino shot pictorial and she talks about experimenting. With different clothes, with different aspects of her personality. Acting, in short. And she seems to enjoy every second of it! (so do we!)

Emma Stone’s Vogue July 2012 Cover. Why So Sad?

As I’ve made no secret out of it, I have a special fondness towards Emma Stone. She chose her career steps wisely as she now seems the perfect blend of funny, down to earth and sensitive. The kind of girl you’d dream of having next door who’ll brighten up your day with just a smile.

But that can’t be the same girl as the one on the cover of Vogue US July 2012! Impossible – that sad face, that teary expression? Can’t be Emma Stone! And still – as photographed by Mario Testino, Emma shows her Amazing Spider Man face: all that drama makes me sad. But not enough as in not buying the actual magazine, though! (let’s hope more & better pictures will soon surface for an objective perspective on the July 2012 issue!)
