Saskia De Brauw Does Vogue Italia March 2011

Saskia’s time is right now. Not only she’s the highlight of Carine Roitfeld’s last Vogue Paris issue but she’s also covering Vogue Italy’s March 2011 issue.

Photographed by Steven Meisel and aiming for “Dazzling”, Saskia’s cover image is downright menacing. In all fashion courtesy, biensur. Truth being told, if I’d have to chose just one Saskia cover, I’d definitely go for this one. It’s less promiscuous and more fashdaring. What about you? which one is your favorite? Saskia De Brauw Vogue Paris March 2011, Carine Roitfeld’s Last Issue

I couldn’t help but notice Saskia de Brauw during the handful of fashion shows I “reviewed” from the Fall Winter 2011 2012 Fashion Weeks. She seemed to have had some of the most wonderful outfits of the catwalk. At least for me.

If that’s a marketing gimmick to pop Saskia more in the fashpeople eyes, it’s working. Carine could have pulled on some strings to make it happen. Why? Because there she goes, Saskia de Brauw on the cover of Vogue Paris March 2011. The last issue under Carine Roitfeld‘s editorial scepter at Vogue Paris.

Lara Stone Covers Vogue China March 2011

Has the gorgeous Lara Stone become history once Carine Roitfeld’s Vogue Paris reign has ended? I highly doubt it since she just covered the French edition of Vogue, the February issue.

However, there she goes, covering Vogue China March 2011, looking all statuesque and summery, like torn from a page of 80s fashion. It’s a night and day theme so she gets to be on the cover twice, actually.

Photographer: Inez and Vinoodh. Also – despite of the bold coloring, the natural set, the interesting double cover idea, and Lara herself, does anyone else but me finds this bland? (photos via)

Gorgeous Floral Headpiece

Few days ago I told you I was up to my ears in a diy project for my sweet baby girl. I made her two headbands decorated with flowers made by moi. They turned out so cute and charming, I may have to give into the diy temptation again.

However, this massive floral piece Sasha is wearing (you know me and my love for all things Sasha Pivovarova) is downright gorgeous. For photographic purposes, at least, she fills the daily chromatic needs of one amateur fashionista aka moi. Would you envision your charming self wearing one of these? Same color? different? same texture? (photo Vogue UK via)

Lady Gaga’s Vogue March 2011

I actually took the time to read the piece they written in Vogue. About Lady Gaga! Can you believe it? If someone told me few days ago that Gaga would be on the cover of Vogue and that I’ll be reading her interview, I’d say no way! Not unless volcanoes start spreading ice cubes!

And still, here I am, after having read the story and did not actually took enough time to weigh on all this. I chose writing about it straight on, as it comes right out of my heart / mind. So Vogue US appears to be running out of buyers besides trying so hard to inject a young spirit into this old, almost magical magazine.

Almost magical? yes, almost because, as far as I know, magic doesn’t come easy and surely isn’t as popular as Lady Gaga is. Well educated and allegedly very polite and ceremonial, Lady Gaga as portrayed in the latest Vogue March 2011 issue made quite an impression on Jonathan Van Meter (the author of the Vogue article), With her pink wig and arrogant stare, Lady Gaga will stop at nothing before conquering the world. Not even from shamelessly getting a Vogue feature just before launching her new album! You know the same old Vogue trick, except this time it’s not an actress promoting her upcoming movie. Lara Stone’s Vogue Paris February 2011

And so it is… Just like they said it would be… And thus, with the words of Damien Rice (The Blower’s Daughter) begins the acknowledging of a fashmagazine deja-vu. And no, it’s not about Lara Stone‘s full Gucci look on the cover of Vogue Paris, February 2011. It’s about her pose, her attitude. Lara Stone as seen by Carine Roitfeld. Such a tired cliche, really!

When I’m confronted with this kind of overused image, I feel slightly hopeful that Emmanuelle Alt’s vision would spare us from the eyebrow bleached Stone in the future (though I’m always grateful they use actual models for most of their covers). It’s a cover you either like or dislike, there’s hardly any inbetweens. I fall for the latter, how’s your stand? Photographer Mario Sorrenti. Anja Rubik Refused Richardson’s Pirelli. Doesn’t Understand Richardson Controversy

In a recent interview with Anja Rubik over at the Frockwriter’s, she talked about anything and everything (including few upcoming covers she’ll be on and a Vogue Australia cover shoot she’s doing as we speak).

One of the most important things, however, was that she didn’t accept to do the Pirelli calendar under Richardson’s directions (yes, that Terry Richardson!) because she thought he would push her towards an uncomfortable zone she didn’t wanted to be in. In the same time, however, she said she knew him and didn’t understand where those harassment rumors came from: (photo via; if you want to read the interview, you can do so here)

I know him, I’ve shot with him many times. And I think he’s great. I never felt uncomfortable, I never thought he pushed me into anything. I think if a girl, like, leaves her green light that she’s open to doing different things, he maybe pushes the boundaries. And if he knows how the girl is. Like I don’t get all these allegations. I mean I worked with him over, I don’t know, 15 times and I never felt awkward…..that I felt I had to do something.

Gisele Bundchen’s Vogue China February 2011

I wish I knew why they chose this styling for Gisele the bombshell Bundchen! But whoever did it, back in Vogue China’s editor’s offices, this February 2011 cover is a great change from the Gisele almighty seductress we’re used to see, all day, everyday, every magazine cover / page / pictorial.

Girly much? (Photographer: Patrick Demarchelier, no word on the stylist yet) (photo via)
