Once fall sets in, everything gets earthy shades, from head to toes. For those who were lucky enough to be born with a gorgeous auburn hair, this is everyday bliss, for those who ran out in a frenzy to buy Topshop freckle pen this summer, trying to mimic that fantastic fairytale redhead charm, it’s yet another style challenge:
Vogue unanimously declared in the August 2014 issues (US and Paris respectively) that fire red hair is the haircolor of fashion’s elite. At least as far as this year is concerned. For those who were (luckily) born this way, being ‘fire starters’ is a way of life: passionately fashionable.

What is it about Sofia Coppola that gives such an aura of cool and romantic, of girly and un-shallow at the same time? Whatever it is, the lady has a class of her own and it was about time Vogue acknowledged it. Sure it’s still a movie that’s bringing Sofia Coppola to light and not a random merit ‘because she’s worth it’ but we’re used to that by now, right? We only focus on people when they become relevant. It’s how the fast, modern times work. Sadly.
But you know, Sofia is really worth it. She’s worth every profiling, every spotlight, every accolade. She’s a woman with a notorious name/pedigree who worked herself up on the ladder in her own way. In her own terms. More: she’s a woman in her (beautiful) 40s who can make it on the cover of Vogue without making it about her age (take note, Anna)!

Almost 2 years after TV’s most appealing drama series, Showtime’s Homeland aired its pilot (October 2nd, 2011), Vogue is finally giving its seal of approval by putting Claire Danes, the feminine lead of the series in question, on their August 2013 cover.
There’s an interesting side to this, though: the inside pictorial, signed by Vogue’s most epic imagist, Annie Leibovitz, also includes Homeland’s male lead played by Damian Lewis. Fear not, you didn’t miss the series 3rd season premiere as this was scheduled for September 29th, but isn’t it strange to find this lovely, extremely talented actress covering the American Vogue’s age issue? – she’s only 34, that must be a record even for Vogue’s usual impertinence!

Fact: I have a weakness for Anja Rubik. Fact: I have a weakness for hair, especially the curly variety. Put these two together and you’ll see why I really wanted to discuss Anja’s Vogue Russia July 2013 feature. It’s just explosively fashionable!
Photographed by Richard Bush and styled by Sarah Richardson, Anja wears six different hairstyles in even more different fashion styles/poses. From the cover where her natural hair is curled up and chaotically spiraled into a Medusa Gorgon titled main pictorial, to the slick back hair hinting at Sharon Stone’s Basic’s power hairdo, Anja’s features are so versatile and the styling team behind this Vogue issue so professional that I liked almost every one of her shots.

(must be the worse pretext ever!) I was genuinely in awe when I discovered the July 2013 Vogue UK cover: Helena Bonham Carter is one of my favorite actresses for a long time and a clearly unique and outstanding personality, fashion and otherwise. I couldn’t be happier to discover her on a Vogue cover!
And since it’s such a unique moment in (style) time, I will do my best to procure this issue. Would make my first British Vogue to add to that ever growing stash I hold so dear to my heart and so precious to my eyes. I don’t even mind that the Mert and Marcus cover photo makes this Vogue UK look so much like your usual Vogue US, completed with (not so complimentary) Photoshop generous smoothing (which totally made lovely Helena look like Rachel Weisz) and Ralph Lauren outfit.
But why is Helena Bonham Carter on the cover of Vogue after all? Could it be because her movie alongside Johnny Depp isn’t doing so well, critics-wise? Or maybe because she has an Elizabeth Taylor movie scheduled for release soon? Either way, I’m really enjoying her stylish shoot.

Vogue Australia continues their collector’s issues (that special series which only features high profile models on the cover) with a Great Gatsby themed moment and Karlie Kloss. It’s not the first time Karlie teamed up with Vogue Australia, but it’s her first collaboration after the famous chop. The Karlie Chop.
Which, I presume, is also one of the reasons there’s heavy hair talk from the very cover. Predictable, yes, but not all boring. Great Gatsby is a wonderful pretext to talk fashion on the big screen, especially with Miuccia Prada’s involvement in Baz Luhrmann’s project. And everybody loves a good Baz Luhrmann project! It’s grand, it’s glamorous, it’s perfectly fashionable.
And so is Karlie on this Vogue Australia May 2013 cover. Until better quality images will surface, all we have is this. But it’s enough to make me expect grand things from this issue since it started with such a lovely cover! Will you be watching this Gatsby remake?

With every new cover graced by the amazing Joan Smalls I keep wondering what’s going on with the fashion people and how they allow themselves to be so dull and just ‘meh’ when they have such incredible potential on their hands!
Knotted in some cliché threads, blinded by safe choices, Joan Smalls’ covers end up being a huge disappointment to me, regardless of how enthusiast I am about her being on a new magazine cover. Take this Vogue Russia as photographed by Richard Bush – what’s so appealing about this picture that would make you pick up the magazine from the newsstand and take it home with you?

Since her last Vogue Australia cover, Miranda Kerr has only gone upwards in solidifying her model star status. A super mom, a super entrepreneur and a super model – not to overlook her role as a super wife to Orlando Bloom. Miranda seems to have it all: starting with her perfect dimples down to her impeccable street style everyone’s looking up to.
What I appreciate the most about Miranda, though, beyond everything I wrote above and what you already knew is her perfect sense of balance. She just keeps a wonderful positively balanced perspective on her diet, her body, her work, her life.
Vogue Australia models covers initiative stretches to a 5 issues series, from which this April 2013 you see below is the second. Lara Stone kick – started it with her March 2013 cover (find that cover as well, after the jump).
