Gatsby Fashion: Karlie Kloss Vogue Australia May 2013 Model Cover
April 9th, 2013 by kpriss
Vogue Australia continues their collector’s issues (that special series which only features high profile models on the cover) with a Great Gatsby themed moment and Karlie Kloss. It’s not the first time Karlie teamed up with Vogue Australia, but it’s her first collaboration after the famous chop. The Karlie Chop.
Which, I presume, is also one of the reasons there’s heavy hair talk from the very cover. Predictable, yes, but not all boring. Great Gatsby is a wonderful pretext to talk fashion on the big screen, especially with Miuccia Prada’s involvement in Baz Luhrmann’s project. And everybody loves a good Baz Luhrmann project! It’s grand, it’s glamorous, it’s perfectly fashionable.
And so is Karlie on this Vogue Australia May 2013 cover. Until better quality images will surface, all we have is this. But it’s enough to make me expect grand things from this issue since it started with such a lovely cover! Will you be watching this Gatsby remake?
Glamour Baby Bump: Jenna Dewan-Tatum
April 9th, 2013 by kpriss
…and a giant Panda. Have you ever considered – should it still be the case – if you’d bare your growing baby bump in a glossy fashion magazine? And I’m not referencing the financial upside of the decision, I’m just curiously asking if you ever imagined yourself in such a delicate state exposed in front of everyone who’s willing to take a peak inside the magazine…
It’s the fashion with our beloved famous ones, to highlight almost every aspect of their existence, glamorize it and just spread it, like butter on toast, whether we’re diary intolerant or not. In Jenna Dewan’s case – you may know her as Channing Tatum’s wife (they both starred in Step Up – 2006) – Glamour wasn’t exactly sure she’d be cover material so they just placed the lovely pregnant lady’s pictorial inside the magazine’s May 2013 issue, leaving the cover for everyone’s favorite cheerleader now turned country star, Hayden Panettiere. And that, despite her misspelled tattoo and plastic surgery fail!
Celebrities, Magazines, Motherhood
Scarlett Johansson: From The Black Widow To Marie Claire May 2013
April 8th, 2013 by kpriss
Although she can be so much more than another chapter in the Avengers book, Scarlett Johansson seems to be lost in (acting) translation. I actually enjoyed her part in Hitchcock more than I enjoyed her Natasha Romanoff Marvel daring adventures.
(can’t believe I said that, after all the years I hoped for something more other than pouts and seductive poses from ScarJo!) Marie Claire’s May 2013 issue brings out the old Scarlett from her Black Widow hiding and hints at the Lost in Translation days with a pictorial signed by Txema Yeste.
Pregnant Halle Berry Teams Up With Michael Kors For Food Charity Watches
April 8th, 2013 by kpriss
When the news about her pregnancy emerged, it was pretty interesting to see how almost every title kept emphasizing on Halle Berry’s age more than anything else. Now that the ‘shock’ factor has faded, it’s time to focus on something other than a number: on Halle’s charity work.
And it’s something she’s been keen on doing for years, nothing new there. Except this watch-thing she got on with Michael Kors. Part of a special initiative through the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), Kors’ Watch Hunger Stop plan is releasing the 100 Series watches. Buying a $295 timepiece from this collection is reportedly giving away 100 meals for those in need.
Hunchback Is The New Fashion Pose: Rosie Tupper In Harper’s Bazaar
April 8th, 2013 by kpriss
How come every time I try to focus on something positive, another thing comes along, stealing the spotlight and just making me want to ‘paint it black’? It’s not for nothing I chose that song, it would appear!
I wanted to see if more images of Cate Blanchett and her Harper’s Bazaar pictorial have surfaced yet and what I found instead got my attention more than Cate did (not that there was too much of her pictorial as it was). The lovely Rosie Tupper has a ‘Simple Pleasures’ pictorial in this May 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar Australia, photographed by Holly Blake and styled by Tiana Wallace.
Morena Baccarin From Homeland To Vanity Fair Italia April 2013
April 8th, 2013 by kpriss
With Homeland’s third series filming season approaching (they resume filming this May), my eyes and ears keep picking up Homeland signals all over media. The latest: Morena Baccarin, she who stars in the series as Jessica Brody, wife of the on-off patriot Sgt Brody, was featured in a fashion spread in the Italian Vanity Fair, the April 2013 issue.
Morena, who is Brazilian born and who was raised and educated in the US (fun fact: she attended the same school as Claire Danes, they were schoolmates!) keeps starring in TV series but now is getting ready for a big screen movie in which she costarred with Joseph Fiennes: The Unholy). I’m actually happy she changed her usual sci-fi register and got the Homeland role – it suits her so much better! (you may remember Morena from the Firefly series or the recently-cancelled V)
How Do You Like Kate Moss With Curly Hair?
April 8th, 2013 by kpriss
Did you ever stop and wonder if hair straightening shouldn’t be regarded as a legitimate addiction? Regardless of the aesthetic importance and the increased manageability of one’s hair, I propose a sincere vote to categorize straightening hair as an addiction, and as such, proliferate it as an unhealthy practice!
When I gave away my fourth hair straightener, years ago, my gf asked me if I was in my right minds and if I was sure it was what I wanted. Yes! It was! It’s been more than 6 years now that I’m straightener-free and living a happy natural-hair life! Seeing Kate Moss with curly hair prompted this entire tirade against straighteners and whoever strongly swears by them!
Attending the amFAR Gala in Brazil this weekend, Kate Moss changed her usually straight, unkept hairstyle and sported some seriously retro glamorous waves. Which suited her heavenly! But reading the news titles reporting that Kate forgot to use her straightener really infuriated me!
Rock The New Week: Rolling Stones Paint It Black
April 8th, 2013 by kpriss
I was kickstarting the fashion ceremonies last week with a Slimane material and with an oddly disturbed feeling about his latest Saint Laurent advertorial mission. Now I’m starting it with something I deliberately left for Monday instead of Friday: The Rolling Stones, Paint It Black!
And although two grand ladies just passed away (by that I’m referring to Lily Pulitzer and the Iron Lady herself, Margaret Thatcher), picking this song had actually no other reference of passing away in my head. Just felt in a rocking mood and wanted to share that with you, boost this Monday and fuel the energy tank with pure rock’n’roll.
Hit the jump, press play and tell me if it was any fuel-ing at all!
