Freja Beha Erichsen Back In Vogue Paris May 2013
April 16th, 2013 by kpriss
Call it my denial moment: I’m trying hard to concentrate on fashion news, shallow, and insipid fabric related bits in time and space. The big covers for the May 2013 issues have appeared, let’s talk about them, please, I’ve had enough of bloody pictures of senseless, brainless, pointless violence (my heart goes out to the Boston Marathon victims and their families)!
Did you notice that Freja Beha Erichsen was absent for the last catwalk season? Did you notice that she just freed herself from pictorial engagements for almost a year? Time is nothing but a written notion in fashion. Fabric-less, substance-less, meaningless.
However, beyond marking her comeback, this Vogue Paris May 2013 has nothing working in its favor. The pose is as strange as it gets, I can’t even tell which of her legs is up and the dress she’s wearing looks like a shredded bin of tissue paper glued randomly on granny’s black tulle dress. Of course it looks very eighties and ‘n’importe quoi’ but chic and couture? like the cover is saying? Not a chance! Overall – a cover mess. But then again, I may just be in a darker mood today…
Redheaded Julianne Moore Is NYTimes T Magazine’s Fairest Of Them All
April 15th, 2013 by kpriss
Although it hints terribly at Grace Coddington’s modeling years, NY Times T Magazine swears by Julianne Moore’s above time and space elegance and appeal. In their T Spring Design 2013 issue, ‘The Fairest Of Them All’ story was photographed by Inez and Vinoodh and styled by Joe McKenna with an accompanying text by Aaron Gell.
Julianne is, indeed, the Fairest of them All – I’d put her next to Cate Blanchett when it comes to judging characters and grace. There’s an immensely charming quality to freckled Julianne which would never make you guess the scars of her childhood as a redhead. She used to be a quiet and shy, studious young girl and she grew up to be such an outstandingly gifted interpreter!
Kati Nescher Stunning Portrait Covers Vogue Germany May 2013
April 15th, 2013 by kpriss
It’s been a while since I’ve seen a similarly striking portrait/cover… Where everything is played on the eyes and the smize, to quote a very famous former model now entertainer/entrepreneur, Tyra Banks. Really a surprising, effectively beautiful pose, in all its simplicity.
Photographed by Luigi Murenu & Daniele + Iago, Kati Nescher is clearly a wonderful model without even trying too hard. And the pink/burgundy color scheme only compliments her beautiful eyes. Her face actually reminds me of Daria Werbowy’s – doesn’t she look strikingly similar to you as well?
Idris Elba In Bond-Like Movies For Toyota Avalon
April 14th, 2013 by kpriss
I know we were all secretly dreaming of the next James Bond as Idris Elba. Ahem… Idris Elba as the next James Bond (wink) but the closest we’ll get to that dream coming true is a series of commercials for Toyota.
So until the next series of Luther kicks off its new season, we have not one but three (so far) short clips showcasing the new Toyota Avalon. Three distinct episodes were released as part of an enthralling story of spy games. And Idris is pretty good at thrilling the audience with this kind of suspense-filled action scenes. All you have to do is hit the jump button and join the little adventure!

Erin Wasson First Non-Dutch Model On Vogue Netherland Cover
April 13th, 2013 by kpriss
For the first time in Vogue Netherland’s editorial existence, a non-Dutch model is gracing the cover and associated main pictorial. Whether that’s a nod to the change in Dutch’s reigning regime – they will now have a King and not a Queen, as our dear friend, Appollonia knows better, I will only say that the new Royal Fashion representative will be Maxima, from now on. And she’s on the cover of Vogue Netherland’s May 2013 issue, with her name only.
But who’s the cover girl? Erin Wasson. Although she’s of German and Irish descent, Erin is no Dutch model. And she is on the cover of Vogue Netherlands. So she boldly goes where no other non-Dutch model has ever gone before (at least the photographers, Petrovsky and Ramone are Dutch)!

Mediocre Song Using Johnny Depp And Kate Moss Romance To Launch
April 13th, 2013 by kpriss
Don’t you just love it when a mediocre moment gets a meteoric rise because it just used the right propulsory references? This is definitely one of them! In all my years of listening to alternative music, I didn’t come across many pieces as unfoundedly pretentious as this one.
Taking the iconic relationship between Johnny Depp and Kate Moss as reference/inspiration is downright offensive for what that stands for in comparison with the lack of real musical substance that this He Met Her Toknight We Ride (Johnny & Kate) song is. Or maybe, on the contrary, the song is just as intelligent and as profound as the relationship between the two was. Which is which? Just hit the jump and press play, I mean… we’ve survived Gangnam Style, right?
Carine Roitfeld Styling For Harper’s Bazaar: Gorgeous Models & Wild Beasts
April 12th, 2013 by kpriss
Carine Roitfeld, as we all know, is a freelance stylist, touching any and every pictorial that is proposed to her. The latest is a specialist eye on the Pre Fall Collections in Harper’s Bazaar UK May 2013.
The pictorial is – to say the least – interesting. Irina Shayk, Kate Upton, Tilda Lindstam, Soo Joo Park, Senait Gidey photographed by Sebastian Faena in a natural setting mimicking old-fashioned beasts doctors in white court shoes and perfectly pouty faces and impeccable red manicures. Carine is feeding the male audience anything and everything it needs. And fashion on top of that!
The Most Important Thing About Buying A Bra!
April 12th, 2013 by kpriss
… is that you don’t actually need one! Surprising, I know, but these are the latest research conclusions issued by a French doctor, Jean-Denis Rouillon who, for 15 long years, studied 330 women’s breast (some job, huh?).
Can you believe his exact words were: ‘bras are a false necessity’? it actually makes a lot of sense to me: the only trouble is outside in, not the other way around. Meaning – I’m fully convinced a lot of women would embrace a bra-less existence if it weren’t for ‘the others’ constantly picking in and picking at them. Simple. We still live in a predators society and bra-less days are far, far away!
