How About Daria Werbowy’s Vogue Paris February 2012?

Yesterday I told you all a short Vogue US story. The one I see through my fashamateur eyes. Now I’d like to tell you the French version. Vogue Paris February 2012 is all about Daria Werbowy as photographed by Inez and Vinoodh.

Daria is simply breathless on the cover, the issue is as promising as can be with an amazingly beautiful Prada swimsuit (although I promise, if I’d ever have a swimsuit like that, I’d frame it rather than face the Ocean waves wearing it!). After all, Daria is such a rare sight in fashion lately, one can’t do otherwise but consider it’s pure luck to have her on a magazine cover! But (you saw that one coming, didn’t you?) – yes, there’s a but! Let’s talk about it after the jump! (you can check out the gallery here)

Marc Jacobs Still Talking About Refusing The Dior Position

Weeks are going by, not one day is like the other but Marc Jacobs is still stuck on not taking that Dior position! After talking about it in Vogue he’s now saying it to the Telegraph. Same tune, different lyrics (please refrain yourself from raising them beautiful eyebrows but feel free to comment below! Please, bring back Galliano?):

‘…Mr Arnault is a super intelligent man and a very smart man and it was certainly a very great honour for him to know that I was capable – and not only capable but that I am someone that he would have wanted for the job. But I am very happy to be here. There is so much more left to do and building Louis Vuitton into a fashion company is something nobody else can say they really started. […] but we agreed that it was probably best for everyone.’

Justin Bieber’s V Magazine Cover Is All Kinds Of Wrong

While it would appear that Inez and Vinoodh are V magazine’s photographers of choice and we love them for that, the same does not apply to V magazine’s covers. Although photographed by Inez and Vinoodh. Confusing, isn’t it?

Well, that’s maybe because is exactly how I felt when I saw Justin Bieber’s V cover? Confused. And disoriented. I know I may be experiencing that because I’m not in Justin Bieber’s target group age, but V’s spring 2012 issue is to blame for that too. I mean – if it were Teen Vogue, I would’ve surely understand. But V? And look at the boy’s face, for cryin’? Doesn’t he know he’s one of the worst selling magazines covers? And that shredded fabric t-shirt? I’m sure he would’ve looked better (and a thousand times more appropriate) with a Mickey Mouse tee!

If he’s the Pop Crown Prince, I think our music’s future is a bit blurry! Oh – now I see it – he’s wearing Dolce & Gabbana! At 18! Yeah! Definitely! Our music’s future is in trouble! (and if you think the cover is weird, wait till you see some of the inside pictures! Hit the jump!)

Leggy Anja Rubik For Giuseppe Zanotti Spring Summer 2012 Ad Campaign

If there’s someone in the fashion industry right now I can go ahead and recognize without looking at her face and just by seeing her legs it’s Anja Rubik. Her physique is impressive! So it’s really no surprise to see her showing so much leg in Giuseppe Zanotti’s Spring Summer 2012 Ad Campaign!

Especially since she already declared her love for the brand (she also wore Zanotti shoes for her wedding). We all have Inez and Vinoodh to thank for these amazing pictures of Anja! (too bad about the ocean backdrop – it’s so cliché, isn’t it?)

Vogue’s Covers. Anna Wintour Explaining Her Cover Choices

You may remember I used to moan and frown almost every time a celebrity was on the cover of Vogue magazine. Anna Wintour has made a way of celebrity living for her US edition of Vogue and with every new issue I’m more and more convinced that she was undoubtedly a true visionary.

When the famous Devil wears Prada book proved to be a bestseller and was made a movie (ah! The amazing Meryl Streep!), the portrait of a true FashIron Lady was laid out in the open, before our mortal eyes. Surely the most powerful woman in fashion, Anna showed a gifted eye and unmatched severity reigning chez Vogue.

And as risqué as it may sound – when the Steve Jobs biography was published, a quoted fragment I will cite from my memory said that founder of Apple was a genius but also a tyrant. I’m trying to see the truth between the lines here – all those great personalities, all those great, revolutionary individuals out there seem to be bound to a certain kind of strictness and severity most of us do not understand. And at the end of a long, hard judging day, the simple truth is that they changed the world.

Anna Wintour changed the world. She changed the world of fashion and she continues to do so with every single cover she’s greenlighting for the print. Yes! With celebrities on the cover! An overwhelming percentage of the world’s population is shaped by the media culture. History is made in the media. What else should there be in the printed media other than reflections of the very screens we relentlessly keep on watching? I’d love to hear you out on the matter, I know you have your beautiful minds all set about these issues – all I wish for is that you take it out. Right here, in the comments section! (please watch the video before, though. It’s Anna Wintour’s interview with the CBS. Fashion professionals are a delight. Always.)

Sasha Pivovarova Is Pregnant. Illustrating Books For Prada And Lagerfeld!

One of my favorite models, Sasha Pivovarova just announced a couple of days ago, that she was expecting! Congrats to the happy mum-to-be! She’s like three months along with her and her husband’s first child.

You may remember them from a Vogue photo shoot (June 2009, to be more exact) where they recreated their wedding. Sasha is married with long time friend, photographer Igor Vishnyakov. However, the young mother to be is a busy bee having a book in the works with Miuccia Prada (with Sasha’s artwork) and with Karl Lagerfeld (Sasha illustrating for Der Kaiser scenes from Russian fairytales). Can’t wait for the baby bump pics!

Meryl Streep’s Vogue January 2012

This is amazing news! Although slightly predictable and more in Vanity Fair’s alley, Vogue US brings Meryl Streep for the cover of their January 2012 issue.

Judging by the looks of it, I’d say it’s Annie Leibovitz, but that is yet to be confirmed (which it already has, see the update below). For the moment, all we have to admire and look at, is Vogue’s US January 2012 cover. Occasioned, biensur, by Meryl Streep’s new movie (she’s impersonating UK’s Iron Lady – and the titles I read were saying that her acting is perfect and that she’s a sure candidate for next year’s Oscars…). Which would actually explain this cover – I doubt Anna would’ve played with the wrong camp. How do you like the cover so far?

UPDATE: Official confirmation has arrived – it’s Annie Leibovitz who’s behind this cover and “Force of Nature pictorial”; here‘s the interview with Meryl.

Carey Mulligan’s Elle France Cover Identical To Glamour’s Germany December Cover. Same As Vogue’s October 2010 Cover

At first, I was convinced I was seeing double. Undoubtedly one of the many consequences of running a four children household. I checked again. And again. Nop. It’s definitely not me as the unusual sighting has been reported again, for a third time.

Carey Mulligan, my dahlings, is on the cover of French Elle magazine. And on the cover of Glamour Germany December 2011. Which sounds great as Carey is one of my favorite young actresses. The only trouble is, these two above mentioned covers are identical to Vogue US October 2010 cover. I mean… identical to the point of being the very same image, photographed in 2010 by Peter Lindbergh. How did this happen, why?(click the picture for larger image)
