It’s a rhetorical question, biensur, given that Vogue UK seems determined to be at the same fashion level as the Daily Fail.
Last month’s Lana Del Rey feature must have been a mistake, a gossip maneuver since Lana was pretty much everyone’s favorite controversy two or three weeks ago.
Having Sienna Miller on the cover of Vogue UK April 2012 is unjustified and uncalled for during the Fashion Week season!

While this is one of the most amazing news this week (I think it tops Viola Davis and Esperanza Spalding wearing natural hair while attending the 2012 Oscars Ceremony), Joan Smalls’ Vogue Italia March 2012 is pretty strange.
Like they say: Over the top. Steven Meisel photographed a handful of gorgeous models (all white but Joan) for a special issue of Vogue Italia, dealing with the excess of all things style and fashion. And more. Not much has been posted online yet, however, I took out two images from the animated gifs which were made available. Now remember – it’s all about excess. All in all, I’m happy Joan landed this cover. As always, congrats to Franca Sozzani’s Vogue Italy for their courage and fashion initiative!

Lais Ribeiro is one of my favorite models right now, so I’m really surprised I missed this! (with all the Fashion Week craze going on…)
So here’s an interesting magazine cover: Lais Ribeiro’s Vogue Germany March 2012 as photographed by Alex Lubomirski. If you’re thinking the big hair stands for a retro pictorial, you’re right on! The inside pictures reveal a perfectly gorgeous Lais revisiting the 60s fashion. It’s a balanced pictorial, retro and modern blended together wonderfully. I don’t know if it’s just my admiration for Lais or truly Alex Lubomirski worked really great “Americano” visuals for Vogue Germany! Check the images after the jump and judge for yourself! This is a really simple, very striking cover for Vogue Paris March 2012. Natalia Vodianova seems to be back in fashion, stronger than ever. And with every picture of her I discover, I’m more and more convinced that less is definitely more effective than a bunch of colorful yet aesthetically aggressive styling options.
Sure, it doesn’t work with anyone, but I’m happy and grateful for every simple fashion moment I find! So today I love Mert and Marcus’ photo of Natalia Vodianova for Vogue Paris. Do you?

We all love a good model cover. However, Vogue China’s March 2012 Cover is so bad, I’d rather see a celebrity cover instead of it any day! Besides, Vogue China doesn’t care much about being original – someone must have heard that we’d love to see a model on the cover of Vogue. So they decided to double the pleasure (we do love Isabeli Fontana and Natasha Poly, but this photo is tasteless)! (can you please stop, Vogue China? Use your imagination, fashion is all about creativity, not repetition!)

Lana del Rey on the cover of Vogue UK March 2012 under the tagline “The Fascinating…”. Pink and Lana never paired in my head so it’s a first for me, not to mention for Lana, who’s a Vogue covergirl for the first time in her life – maybe not her last? Anyway, that rules out a Vogue US cover, huh?
Mario Testino’s pictures of Lana from the inside pictorial caught the essence of Lana Del Rey way better than the cover photo (check them out after the jump). It’s like they were from two different photo sessions. It’s a mediocre Vogue, so, hopefully, for those who’ll buy the print magazine, the inside content will prove way more interesting than the cover!
Vogue aside, how do you feel about Lana’s music? (I’m loving her self described style: “gangsta Nancy Sinatra” – she’s the very product of today’s fashion web – styled generation!)

Last we talked about Jessica Stam, she was proudly showing her new hair color. Jessica Stam, the forever blond is now a brunette. If we’re to believe that early hair – report!
Harper’s Bazaar Australia’s March 2012 shows us the same Jessica Stam, same ethereal blond charm, wearing a well suited flowery lace Vuitton dress on the cover. The inside pictorial was styled by Jillian Davison and Christine Centenera, her hair was done by Teddy Charles and the makeup was executed by Mickael Noiselet. Victor Demarchelier signs the flawless photographic work. (click through for more; check out the gallery here)

I know you saw this happening last year and that the new hair it was announced as the twist. However, in Europe things may be a little different – Vogue Paris just confirmed in their February 2012 issue that the hair beauty must this season is the braid!
I don’t mind, I love it anyway – especially loved the Mohawk braid? It’s something I haven’t tried yet – that could also work perfectly with twisted buns all the way down (or up, depending on where you start the Mohawk). So what’ll be? Twist or Braid? (the lovely Aline Weber was photographed by Giampaolo Sgura, styled by Geraldine Saglio and hairstyled by James Pecis)
