Friday Break – Nicole Kidman And Robbie Williams Somethin Stupid

I guess you already know I’m not a Nicole Kidman fan. On the contrary, I find her so false and artificial I can hardly understand why she’s so sought after.

However, even I am entitled to a little exception every little now and then and this is my Nicole Kidman’s exception. Alongside Robbie Williams she’s working such a wonderful character I hardly can deny the beauty of it all. You tell me how it looks like and especially how it sounds like! I for one confessed my falling for this song. Enjoy this Friday Break – Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman Somethin’ Stupid!

Gisele Bundchen V Magazine No 54

It won’t be long before fashion shows will exhibit intimate parts and call it art. Those were the words of my dearest husband no more than two weeks ago when he read one of my postings about a fashion show.

I looked at him and raised my eyebrows “You really think so?”. At the time I wasn’t expecting something like this V cover. Now I’m facing a playboy-like Gisele on V 54 (by Mario Testino) and ask myself if my husband qualifies for fashion guru. Oh well, I guess I’m the lucky one! Now back to Gisele – if she’s posing like that for a fashion magazine, it doesn’t surprise me she tops the best paid models of the world. I just wonder what’s in it for a woman. Speaking for myself – I don’t really see the fashion in those poses. I see the body. I see the skin, of course (who doesn’t? you don’t have to be a fashion guru to accomplish that vision) I even see the pink nails (toe nails matching). Now where’s the style? Where’s la moda?(the pictorial follows right after the jump)

Jessica Stam Giorgio Armani Fall Winter 2008 2009

Androgyny is still running hot the upcoming season. One more proof – Giorgio Armani’s advertising campaign for Fall Winter 2008 2009.

Sure there could be something more specific since it’s a Vogue China scan, but I’ll keep looking and updated if something new comes along. The Giorgio Armani FW 08 Stam has nothing to do with the Jessica Stam I like. She looks more like a suffering adolescent (I give in to the obvious pleonasm, but it was required). Armani, for the suffering teens. I was used to a different Mert and Marcus. Do you like the new ads?

Sasha Pivovarova Pringle Of Scotland Fall Winter 2008 2009 Ad Campaign

I have a weak spot for Sasha’s smile. Even if I find her thin beyond compare, she manages to make me forget that when she smiles. (I could think of several songs with that tagline, so it’s not unusual after all. Maybe they all thought of Sasha when writing those lines).

Steven Meisel did a great job with these simple black and white photos. I would’ve fired the hair stylist and hired someone with actual talent, but hey, it can’t always be perfect, right? Actually, taking a better look, the pictures don’t even look like an ad campaign shots. Everything looks so relaxed. Is it your feeling too? Or it’s just me and my Sasha indulgence?

Kate Moss And Gaspard Ulliel Longchamp Fall Winter 2008 2009 Ad Campaign

I promise you, one day I’ll grow so tired of this French-chic look, I’ll end up saying it’s a hoax!

Undoubtedly particular but no so sacred, the Parisian air has a catchy flavor and a certain je-ne-sais-quoi getting everyone (and their dog) to sigh over Paris… (don’t miss the four more pictures right after the jump)

Annie Leibovitz Exhibition A Photographer’s Life 1990-2005

Annie Leibovitz exhibition travelled the world to reach Paris. In collaboration with Louis Vuitton she’s presenting some of her most famous works from 1990 to 2005.

Not only public faces or public places, but also family and close friends pop from the beautiful pictures. From Jamie Foxx to the Olympic Games athletes, American west’s stunning landscapes, the exhibition originally started in 2006 and went global (you can see the rest of the pictures after the jump).

Annie Leibovitz and Patti Smith at Paris ExhibitionHere I presented you some of her works from the exhibition that I have been able to find on the internet.

Of course you always have her Vanity Fair and Vogue works in case you’ll miss the exhibition (or you have already missed it).

I do appreciate her style, and her magnetism. She seems to have not only an eye for art, but also for controversy. And she sure has a uniqueness to her work (at least the fashion magazines work). Love her or hate her, I think she’s one safe investment. What about you? Friend or foe of Annie’s work?

Kate Moss Starlight T-Shirt For Charity

Knowing how it really works and how “personal” are the personal designs of celeb-turned-designers, what exactly does it mean that Kate Moss personally designed a t-shirt? Giving her signature on a predesigned theme?

All the profits from the Kate Moss Starlight T-Shirt go to the Starlight Children’s Foundation that just celebrated the 21st birthday this week: “Starlight offers a lot of hope to a lot of children at a difficult time in their life. I was really happy to help.” Does a charity involve you more when a celebrity is already in?

Why Celebrity Goes Designer

And here I was, day after day, wondering how far and how many more from the celebrity lines will join the designer ranks…

Now I know why there’s hardly a day passing by without a new fragrance by an actor/singer, a new furniture or home decoration signed by a songbird or big/small screen star, and of course, a new line of clothing, a new collection of something signed by one of our beloved celebrities.

Tom Ford Cfda Gala
Here’s Tom Ford’s moment of wisdom without moderation at the CFDA gala where he won the Menswear Award:

“I used to be an actor before I was a designer – I was never a good actor as you saw, which is why I became a fashion designer. But it was fun.”

Sooo, taking things logically – if you’re bad at what you do, forget acting, dancing and singing and go designer! At least you gave it a try!
