(must be the worse pretext ever!) I was genuinely in awe when I discovered the July 2013 Vogue UK cover: Helena Bonham Carter is one of my favorite actresses for a long time and a clearly unique and outstanding personality, fashion and otherwise. I couldn’t be happier to discover her on a Vogue cover!
And since it’s such a unique moment in (style) time, I will do my best to procure this issue. Would make my first British Vogue to add to that ever growing stash I hold so dear to my heart and so precious to my eyes. I don’t even mind that the Mert and Marcus cover photo makes this Vogue UK look so much like your usual Vogue US, completed with (not so complimentary) Photoshop generous smoothing (which totally made lovely Helena look like Rachel Weisz) and Ralph Lauren outfit.
But why is Helena Bonham Carter on the cover of Vogue after all? Could it be because her movie alongside Johnny Depp isn’t doing so well, critics-wise? Or maybe because she has an Elizabeth Taylor movie scheduled for release soon? Either way, I’m really enjoying her stylish shoot.

Being such a cinematic issue, it’s not that surprising to see Cara Delevingne and Tom Hiddleston play a couple for Peter Lindbergh’s lenses in the May 2013 issue of Vogue US.
Not the chemistry they’re trying to convince us there is, as Cara always looks detached and over-precious and this is no exception, but a rather interesting pairing as Tom is known as a little mischief himself, pretty much like Miss Delevingne here. Take Two is the name of the pictorial, styled by Tonne Goodman and the two models/actors try to make us believe in a romance between takes that’s more interesting from individual perspectives and not as a twosome.

Remember we discussed Vogue Paris April 2013 and more specifically the wasted potential of what could’ve been a glorious cover&cover story: Isabeli Fontana photographed by Mario Testino in an issue about Peru and its wonders.
At the time, we also found out that Kate Moss was in the said issue, also photographed by Mario Testino, also highlighting the Peruvian treasures. I was so curious to see the inside goodies so when I finally got around to peak at the pictorials previews, I was stunned: Kate Moss is definitely cover-material. The only reason I can accept her not being on the cover of this issue is that the highly esteemed fashion people want to see ‘change’ at all costs, even if it means unconvincing covers like Isabeli’s here.

This one is for all of you out there who have seriously mixed feelings – to put it mildly – about Helen Mirren’s pink hairdo! Yes, she might have risked her style ratings when she coifed her usually impeccable hair like that for the 2013 BAFTA ceremony, but her Vogue pictorial only hits the right fashion notes!
Photographed by Mikael Jansson and styled by Sara Moonves, Helen Mirren is very picture of elegance and distinction wearing makeup by Lucia Pica and hair by Luke Hersheson.

Remember when everyone was complaining and whining about Megan Fox appearance in Vanity Fair’s Jude Apatow special guest edited issue? And about her deja – vu, cheesy pictures? I bet you’re having second thoughts about that now, huh?
Megan Fox is back. And she’s taking is slow, one magazine cover at the time. But you know she’ll get to world domination soon enough. Now it only depends on us: are we going to allow her comedian breakthrough? (I admit, I haven’t seen ‘This is 40’ yet, so I actually have no idea if she’s any good at being funny, but I do admire her for trying – at least she has aspirations and she’s not just ‘the Transformers girl’ anymore)
Back to the UK Marie Claire March 2013 issue now: Megan Fox, as we all remember her, as photographed by Matt Jones.

There’s much to talk about in this month’s Vogue editions! If Vogue Paris is feeling left out with all that Vogue US talk lately, here’s something to make up for that: Milla Jovovich pictorial from Vogue Paris February 2013.
I wanted to add these images – upon their surfacing – to the original cover story. Except something changed my mind about that. The very pictorial. Clearly not what I expected. And as good as that may sound, the reality is much worse! Milla Jovovich is actually shooting her way through the entire pictorial. And that, in the light of recent events, just seems wrong. (more images after the jump)

I started talking about Zoe Saldana earlier, one of my favorite actresses today. How about Emma Stone? I wouldn’t leave her out for 2013, now would I? Now after saying again and again, in 2012, how talented, lovely and down to earth she is!
Emma Stone is on the cover of Glamour UK February 2013. In a weird – ish pose, but I try to only concentrate on her smile and forget about the bending over thingie. It must be really hard to come up with an original cover, huh?

Nothing seems to stand in the way of Kate Upton’s taking over the world. One fashion magazines at the time. After the disappointing Vogue UK January 2013 cover, it’s time for yet another Vogue feature for Kate Upton. Vogue Germany January 2013 has her all feathered up for Bruce Weber’s lenses. We may just be the last unconquered bastillon: Kate Upton does nothing to me. Fashion wise. {voguegermany}
