It’s an interesting end of editorial 2012 for Vogue magazines worldwide! Oldies but goldies, one would say, and in all justice. After discussing the pretty but oh – to – photoshopped Carla Bruni’s Vogue Paris cover, let’s see what Vogue Russia found suitable for the December 2012 cover!

Linda Evangelista as photographed by Karl Lagerfeld in a lush Fendi fur coat. But wait… that cover really reminds me of something I’ve seen not long ago! Naomi Campbell’s gorgeous face popping up from white fur in the middle of Vogue Russia’s December 2008 cover!

And as far as I’m concerned I could very well go ahead and call it a coincidence. Except the passionate and restless tFS people discovered even more furry covers as you can see below. Much like many of you, I too have overheard the rumors talking about Rihanna and Anne Hathaway having their Vogue covers for November and December respectively. And I wasn’t happy, I admit. At first.

Then I started thinking: what if… I’d switch perspectives? And start looking at these “celebrity covers” from another angle, not from the fashion loving individual’s corner, who’s always asking for model covers? After all, months have passed, and things don’t look better. Au contraire: the celebrity covers have widely spread throughout various fashion magazines all over the world. It’s time for a change! And – as the legendary tune goes – ‘better start with the man in the mirror’!

Rihanna. Vogue US November 2012. Her second Vogue cover. Impressive, huh? My pros? It’s not a ‘white cover’! And that’s huge for Vogue US. It’s not a waif thin, underweight physical frame! It was about time, huh? Of course Lady Gaga’s Vogue September 2012 cover was altered in photoshop (duh!) but do you know how the picture looked like when it was initially taken by Mert and Marcus? Well, it kinds looks like the one below. Great, huh? Gaga wouldn’t be herself without Photoshop or circus – like looks. Vogue Cover Photoshop Before & After: such a Gaga – drama! {E!}

When they said that Rosie Huntington – Whiteley withdrew from the Olympics closing ceremonies because she wants people to see her more as an actress rather than a model, I wasn’t anticipating this Elle UK September 2012 cover!

I don’t think anyone was! Especially with the title “Rosie The Supermodel Confesses”. Photographed by David Vasilievic, Rosie looks 100 % a model. A pouting, wind blown, model! So where’s the catch? She could’ve done the Olympics ceremony as well if she did this Elle!

This and Vogue UK’s September cover makes me think that even fashion people got too preoccupied by the Olympics to consider properly doing their job. They exhausted their creative energy. Bottom line.

When I started talking about magazines covers going dark and lacking the joyful shine of the summer issues the other day, I had Vogue Italy’s July 2012 cover in mind. The absolute goth of it is haunting and not necessarily in a bad way.

The models, who are relatively unknown, contribute to the freshness supported and promoted by Vogue Italia through their various cover – initiatives (let us not forget that Vogue Italia did an all black issue in 2008, something that, as far as I know, wasn’t, even up to this day, leveled by any other edition of Vogue ). Julia Nobis, Linda Fox, Elena Bartels, MacKenzie Drazan, Vanessa Axente – these are your goth fashion witches! Care to ride with them?

Victoria Beckham on a magazine cover. How cliché. But what a lovely cliché! Victoria Beckham is the story of success everyone can dream of. Rising to fame with the Spice Girls and getting married with one of Britain’s most desirable (public) figure (just in case you forgot, it’s David Beckham we’re talking about – wink), Victoria seems to have won the life’s lottery whenever she’s talking about her perfect life.

And, honestly, I love that. Positivity. Positivity is good. Positivity makes my world go round! So although we’ve heard the story a thousand times before, we know so much about the Beckhams already, so many magazines before Harper’s Bazaar UK May 2012 have had Victoria on the cover, I still don’t mind. Slightly boring but still enjoyable, Harper’s cover is a hydrangea fashion heaven.

What was I saying? That we don’t see enough of Kate Moss lately? Well, it would appear that today we’ll have enough of Kate Moss for a while! Vogue Eyewear new Spring Summer 2012 ad campaign features none the other but the beautiful Kate Moss. Because all the other models were already booked, duh!

But I’m not complaining, after all! The pictures were taken by Mario Testino, the sunglasses look interesting enough and I admit I’ve been scrolling up and down their website for some optical frames for kids (remember, two of our kids wear corrective eyeglasses). And, although the Vogue eyewear website isn’t generous in information at all, I managed to find at least one item I liked! So you see, Kate Moss was convincing enough for me as to go browse Vogue’s eyewear website, hence, La Moss worked her marketing magic once again! This is great! And I’m not saying it just because it’s Adele and I love her to pieces! But because on Vogue’s US March 2012 Cover is a British singer and on Vogue’s UK March 2012 Cover is an American singer (Lana del Rey)! I’m amazed! The little coincidences making life even more interesting than it already is! (although I have my doubts that the two editions don’t know what they’re planning months ahead)

Adele, as photographed by Mert and Marcus, looks thinner than I remembered her. However, I don’t know if I should cast the stone at the Photoshop – people or take a better, closer look at Adele as she appeared last night at the 2012 edition of the Grammy Awards – after all, she’s been through a difficult surgery… (more images after the jump; check out the gallery here)
