Lindsay Lohan Incredibly Accurate Trash Portrait By Jason Mecier
April 6th, 2013 by kpriss
You often read me say how disappointed I am of the new entertainment generation, of how alienating, disturbing and shallow much of it can be. Many times over you read my thoughts on how the media works in inoculating the superficial and the non-important into the everyday routine, making a point of interest of what has a trash level or importance.
Well, today I finally found a piece of Lindsay Lohan news worthy of praise: a portrait of Lindsay Lohan made by Jason Mecier from trash. Literally. Objects found and collected, arranged and styled in a very accurate depiction of Lindsay Lohan’s face, botoxed lips and all! I can’t take my eyes off it and I really believe that Jason Mecier is one great contemporary artist!
Laetitia Casta’s Glasses: Chanel New Ad Campaign
April 5th, 2013 by kpriss
You may safely go ahead and declare this the Chanel day. This is another topic about the French label’s products and may not be the last before the day is over! Because we all know Karl Lagerfeld is one of the most lucrative designers with a lot on his plate, constantly. Therefore, we too have a lot to discuss about Karl’s doings.
One of his latest fashion enterprises involves Chanel accessories (again) and the beautiful Laetitia Casta. She’s advocating for the new sunglasses and eyeglasses Chanel collection in a series of black and white photos shot by – who else? – der Kaiser!

Orly Nail Polish Bottles Revamp
April 5th, 2013 by kpriss
Did you know who invented the French Manicure? The answer may surprise you as it’s not the French (wink), it’s an American: Jeff Pink. Or at least he was the smart one who branded it if he wasn’t the one who invented it.
After branding the French nails, he went further and started an entire company based around the lovelies manicures: Orly. After more then three decades of successful business, Orly is revamping its image. The conscious nail polish (remember when we talked about Butter London? Well, Orly is one of those nail lacquer brands who care about the environment and the customer’s health and so their products are 3F: free of DBP, toluene and formaldehydes) is going for another cap and another label.
Are Chanel Bags So Iconic As To Buy And Carry Chanel’s Flask Bag?
April 5th, 2013 by kpriss
My dahlings! As we all agree upon certain items as being iconic and representative for their brand or their customer, I wanted to discuss the matter of Chanel handbags, and more specifically about Chanel’s new Sporran Flask Bag.
It was released with Chanel’s Scotland inspired Pre-Fall 2013 collection and now, as more details about its price are available, my eyebrows went up in disbelief: two versions are available of which the small one retails for $3,625 and the larger one for $4,775. For and item that would make its wearer hint at drunken habits!
Natalie Portman Thor 2: First Look
April 4th, 2013 by kpriss
I have to say this upfront: up until a couple of hours ago, I was still hesitant about writing this piece. What changed my mind was something I found out from my Facebook friends (thank you, Ellington!): bromies. Are you familiar with the concept? Hint: it has something to do with ‘My little pony’. Seriously! It’s about grown-up men who really enjoy the animated series! So if a full fledged men fanbase exists for ‘My little pony’, why wouldn’t I come clean about liking ‘Thor’? (And looking out for news about the upcoming Thor2 which is still currently filming, thoroughly enjoying a first peak at Natalie Portman who has returned for ‘The Dark World’ episode as Jane Foster.)
And you know what I loved about Thor? No, it’s not Chris Hemsworth (although I appreciate his commitment to the character). I like the Thor’s candor. He’s marvelously (pun intended) simple brained: brawl & live. The very simplicity of the tool of his trade (that humongous, mythical hammer) reminds me of a toddler’s perspective on the world: a toddler and Thor have so much in common, it’s frightening to even advance this theory in open-internet-field. Someone might unleash the fan anger on me.

Girly Inspiration: Katie Rodgers Fashion Art
April 4th, 2013 by kpriss
I was feeling a bit intoxicated by the polished rock’n’roll moment we shared yesterday, courtesy of Hedi Slimane so I tried to source out some girly inspiration to discuss upon today (Ana, please concentrate on something more positive than la Lohan for Saint Laurent? Think pink? And please immediately shut down any additional Courtney Stodden thoughts!).
I was actually saving this story for the right moment. And that’s today! All the glitter, the tulle, the sequins! Definitely needing some after SLP’s major fail!
My dahlings, I’d like you to meet Katie Rodgers! More like meet her art! Her unbelievably delicate, girly fashion art!

Dress Your Superheroes: What Would Wonder Woman Or Elektra Wear?
April 4th, 2013 by kpriss
The other day, when we had that kids bedding conversation, I started thinking – more seriously – about how we’re brought up, about how we educate our children and about how the gender issue is put in perspective from our tender childhood years.
Because, as you well know, this is an endless source for potential controversy, an endless source for potential subjectivity. Because, if you haven’t already given it any thought, you may do so as of right now! Picture this: we’re growing up with fairytale princesses and courageous, bold princes. Our gender stereotypes are cleverly inoculated and carefully cultivated during our continuous education, shaped into what we see and acknowledge as the gender-specific culture we’re living in. Not always favorable for us, ladies.
This is the topic I want to address with this story. And I picked the super-sheroes to do so because I know one of our dear friends, Ellington, is a fan, like so many others. And, much like our fairytale princesses, superheroes are part of our childhood and yes, they do contribute in shaping up that gender prejudges and cliché we so want to erase from our society!
