Salma Hayek’s V Spain 7 In Alexander McQueen

There’s something about Salma Hayek and Alexander McQueen. She somehow find his creation to be extremely representative for who she is now. Too bad she has to stick that décolleté out so much (don’t tell me you haven’t noticed – this Spanish edition of V magazine no7 isn’t the only occasion she’s showing off them curves) . I, on the other hand, always saw McQueen’s creations fit for some other frame, other than Salma Hayek’s. Which is perfectly charming as it is, only not very McQueen-ish in my eyes.

Then there’s something else: I love how she’s bringing McQueen into normality. Into the everyday life. It’s like living the extraordinary in the mundane. No stage needed (only a multimillionaire husband, maybe), no perfect physical frame, no model body. Just a normal woman (with a multimillionaire husband) wearing extraordinary clothing. That’s beautiful! Too bad they had to smooth her ad infinitum and beyond! I wonder what der Kaiser (Karl Lagerfeld is the photographer) had to say about the Photoshop laminate work. What’s your take on Salma’s V? (photo via)

Gear Up! Even Victoria Beckham Started Working Up!

How’s that possible? I thought she was the only one out there not getting any grueling working out program to stay in shape! I thought Victoria Beckham was a natural!

Well, I may have had my facts a bit blurred by her ever skinny frame since Victoria recently confessed that she’s running (on the treadmill, biensur – you wouldn’t expect to see her Poshness actually hitting the streets wearing jogging clothing and sneakers!). Wait, there’s more! She has a personal trainer at the Santa Monica gym also!

“I run four or five miles every day on the treadmill. For me I like the fact I can get off whenever I want … I’ve also started seeing a trainer at the gym and he’s fantastic. Brutal, but absolutely fantastic.” Oooh! Can’t wait for New Year! My resolutions list will have “working up” on top! Everybody’s doing it, it’s the new it! Isn’t it? (entre nous: if a simple gesture as wearing high heels can make you suffer, than why not going to the gym? How much more painful can it really be?) (via, photos via)

Frankie Goes To Hollywood Relax

Can you believe I never actually included this song? Despite of referencing numerous times the Zoolander and its brilliancy?

So it’s time for some glorious modeling memories brought to us by the one and only Derek Zoolander by means of Frankie Goes to Hollywood and their notoriously controversial Relax. I hope you had a wonderful week, and that this first weekend from December will bring the Christmas spirit closer to you. If you want more information about the song, do click through. Enjoy!

Wearing High Heels Gets Painful After 34 Minutes

Did you ever actually counted how long you were feeling comfortable while wearing high heels? We recently went out and since I didn’t had anything decent to wear, I went for my boyfriend jeans, you know the ones I was telling you about a while back. The only trouble is I have to wear them with high heels. Or else I’d be trashing the living fiber out of them. And I’d look like a misplaced cowboy.

So I put on some high heeled booties and off we went. It was all good while we were still in the car. Then we got off and started walking. Approximately a half hour later I was desperately scouting around for a place to sit my fashionista self and catch a breath. My feet were killing me! Now, discovering that there’s actually a study saying that the average woman can comfortably stand wearing a new pair of high heeled shoes for about 34 minutes it all became clear as daylight! It wasn’t my post – baby body that would not adjust to wearing high heels. It’s the way things are. High Heels / New Shoes only get you as far as 34 minutes with a real smile on your face. After that, you’re faking it: the comfort, the fashion. Everything. Cinderella much? (Insolia via; photos via)

Gisele Bundchen’s Vogue Italy December 2010

How could a Steven Meisel – shot Vogue cover look wrong? It’s a star maker, a cover star maker. Now take that, add Gisele Bundchen to the sauce and you’ve got yourself a winner Vogue Italy December 2010 cover!

Shot in black and white and followed by an equally b & w pictorial, the new Gisele Bundchen extravaganza feels like her most important appearance since Vogue US (we’re talking in post baby issues, biensur). And there’s something about her Rubber Soul pictorial that brings a new light on Gisele the doll. Changing expressions and stretching her usual portfolio, it’s surely something good coming from Gisele the supermodel Bundchen. Would you say she’s a better model here or in her usual poses? (more photos right after the jump; click here for the gallery!) (photos via)

Lila Grace, The New Kate Moss?

Would you believe that Kate Moss is actually pushing her daughter in the public eye? It may be just an impression, however, hearing her say that Lila Grace is just like her may fuel some ideas to the modeling agencies out there.

Why? Well because Kate started modeling at 14yo and Lila Grace is 8. And growing fast! Could she be the next Kate Moss? “Oh, it’s terrible, she’s a mini-me. It’s awful. She’s so amazing but then sometimes I’m like, ‘Oh my, it’s like looking in the mirror. […] She’s like me in every way. She’s very sensitive but also very grown-up, just like I was. I was more when I was 10 than I probably am now and very serious as a child, probably because I went to work when I was 14.” (via, photo via)

McQ Ad Campaign Videos

Two videos are already out and set to accompany and promote the new McQ Collection. Both made in the sweetest tradition of the fashvideo creeps the living fashionista out of me.

They’re a strange mix of reality and fiction, of video confession and interview, of fashion parade and loneliness. The only good thing (for me) it’s that you get to see the clothes in actual movement, in real life situations, not under heavy catwalk / studio orchestration. It’s always good to look at things from a positive perspective. Though watching the second video (that you can find after the jump) made me think of that 30 – minutes new shoes comfort rule!

Fashionable Reading – The News Clutch Bag

They say the new technological wonders will absolutely erase the importance of the paper magazine / newspaper. Some find that to be a normal progression, some, on the other hand, still prefer the old fashioned written word printed on paper.

While I tend to be on the hi-tech platform side of things (especially due to environmental issues), my kids, however, have a clear penchant for the paper written word. Especially when it comes with drawings! So we have to keep the paper written word after all! And for those of you who think the same, here’s the News Clutch made of fashion pages from the New York Times and Los Angeles Times covered with soft laminate and turned into a fine clutch. Or a zip purse? Or a tote? Or a bow tie? (no, it’s not because I love bows that I happen to find this bow tie particularly beautiful) (available here; via)
