Can Someone Please Stop Anna Dello Russo’s Dancing?

I feel like this is going on for too long! Anna Dello Russo having yet another dancing video is like approving that cats made the internet and watching yet another omnomnom shortie. It’s lovely, fun, but too much!

The last thing I want is to turn Anna dello Russo’s flamboyant, candid enthusiasm to ashes, but I so wish she could get her act together here and there (plus she seems to have such odd taste in music). People will be under the impression that Vogue’s staff (especially the editors at large like Anna here and Hamish) are just rejected show(wo)men. Is this the case? Anna dello Russo also wanted a slice of the X Factor?

Movie Sequel Style: The Expendables Sequel Is Happening!

I was thinking the other day (when I was doing the Burberry Acoustic piece) – what if I would tell you more about my cinematic weaknesses? About the movies I liked (without being a complete spoiler about it)? Although it’s hardly your everyday fashion & style fix, I find it to be very interesting. Whenever I get the change to run off with my Adored Husband and spend few hours en amoureux, just him and me (romantic sigh), we treat ourselves with a late night movie too.

Because we looooove movies and going to the theatre is pure adventure when you have a handful of kids at home! One of the movies we were lucky enough to catch (we barely have the time to do a little research before hitting the theater, see which movie is better than the other and why), was The Expendables. And we definitely loved it! Now I hear, with extreme delight, that a sequel is being made to The Expendables (rumor has it that August 2012 is the month of the Expendables 2)! Yaaaay! (are you the least familiar with this movie? Either way, hit the jump for a fast talk about it!)

Live In Love Perfume By Oscar De La Renta Ad Campaign

With a fresh yet classic approach of perfume and a romanticized, yet simple campaign, Oscar de la Renta’s Live in Love fragrance has every chance to hit the success wave.

Oscar de la Renta’s philosophy (at least where perfumes are concerned) revolves around scented flowers “a flower that doesn’t smell is like a woman with no fragrance”. As such, he prepared a perfume for women with top notes of ginger orchid (which he also grows in his garden), bergamot, hyacinth, middle notes of jasmine sambac, orange flower and rose. The base of Live in Love is sandalwood, cedarwood, musk and amber.

The name of the perfume is inspired by the tattoo of someone who actually works with Oscar de la Renta and the ad campaign, both in print and in video is the handy work of illustrator David Downton (you can watch the video after the jump). I especially loved the words that carry the campaign: Oscar de la Renta Live In Love, The New Fragrance for Women created by a man who adores them. Simple truths enchant me. I will most certainly give it a whiff! Will you?

Hamish Bowles X Factor With Britney Spears Oops I Did It Again!

When this was brought to my fashionable attention, I was convinced it was a joke. That this was, in fact, April 1st and I was sitting duck for a funny on-line experiment. Well, after doing a little research, I concluded that it is most certainly not a joke and this is the real Hamish Bowles performing in the final audition stage for the X Factor.

Awkward… if we’re to take the fashion side of it, Hamish’s stage alter ego, Leo Mercure, was a style hero dressed up in Thierry Mugler (or was it Jean Paul Gaultier ?), Philip Treacy hat and Christian Louboutin glittery gold shoes. His eyepatch makeup will forever pin him as my stage hero, especially since he was performing a Britney Spears cover “Oops!… I did it again”. Also the pearls strand was really unexpected!

Just to clear thing up – Anna Wintour put him on the job, signing him up in the X Factor. Hamish complied with the mission and accepted the challenge with a little help from the famous Joan Lader, vocal coach instructor for the likes of Madonna and Bjork. When it came to his stage name and act, he was counseled by Liza Minelli to opt for Brit’s first hit single in the manner of Cole Porter (hear what that means here), under the name of Leo Mercure, a play character by Noel Coward. There you go, all your facts lied down, now press play, you know you want it! (also – could that have anything to do with Nicole Scherzinger being photographed for Vogue? hmmmm)

Michael Kors Men’s Underwear Ad Campaign

With Rafael Nadal booked by Emporio Armani lingerie, what was Michael KorsUnderwear division to do? Go out of business? Of course not! They hired a handful of smart advertisers to put together one of the smartest campaigns of the moment in men’s underwear.

A man and a woman modeling together for Michael Kors’ men underwear campaign in a very explicit attitude. Would this make you buy from Michael Kors? If you ask me, the major flaw is addressing only to one segment of the potential clients out there, the major plus is that they’re not frowning in this campaign. (not smiling either, but we can’t’ have it all). How do you like it? (also – although I’m sure it’s a racy enough campaign to raise questions, let alone brows, it won’t make the buzz it could’ve if, say, Rafa was in it – wink; click the image for larger picture)

Burberry Acoustic: Burberry’s Music Collection (Burberry Short History)

…. Kind of. Although I’m a conscious music listener and I choose my playlist components carefully (also sharing my most treasured musical finds and pleasures throughout the weeks with you), I had no knowledge about Burberry being so much into music. What? Neither did you?

Well, let’s find out more about it, then: Burberry is now under the undeniably brilliant creative reign of Christopher Bailey since 2009. From that year on, although Christopher Bailey had been with Burberry since 2001 as one of its creative directors, Burberry has been on a steady ascension. Towards the hearts and wardrobes of fashion consumers worldwide.

Aside from the beautiful clothing and accessories, Christopher Bailey also associated a playlist to the Burberry name. Burberry Acoustic. It’s a clever initiative as fashion is so much about inspiration and ever so often, music plays a decisive role in a creative process (I don’t know about you, but I know my imagination works in musical ways and I can openly admit being addicted to music). Fashion people can associate certain music to the Burberry brand. And that’s good. For business. (click through to discover more details about Burberry and Burberry Acoustic!)

Keanu Reeves, A Biker Style. Keanu Reeves In GQ

I’m fully aware (and ashamed) of the lack of men around here. You’ll have to excuse me (blushing), I only have eyes for one! (wink). Every now and then I have to do something about the Men of Style, so here I am at it, again, with Keanu Reeves.

He’s one of those people you get a good vibe from (at least as far as I’m concerned). And although his enigmatic figure brings a lot of attention to his persona, Keanu remains modest and away from it all. Can’t wait for another movie with him, though! GQ UK November 2011(yeah, that’s the Kristen Stewart covered one!) did a piece with Keanu Reeves on his love for motorcycles, notably testing the new Ducatti Diavel.

It’s a good pretext to talk about Keanu. And Motorbikes. I also included the scans of his interview in the gallery, so please check it out. Keanu doesn’t talk much, so it’s a rare find. (do you really think Keanu is one of the immortals? I mean.. he doesn’t seem to have aged a day since Point Break!)

Steve Jobs Biography To Become A Movie!

Since we’re talking about books… (I know, I know, I’ve got an “iObsession”! One day it’s a dress, the other is a genius. Too bad it had to end like that.) Either way, a tell all book is going to be published, October 24th. It’s the only authorized biography of Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson which has already moved to the top of Amazon’s Best Sellers list (you can preorder it here).

Sony has acquired the film rights and although a date hasn’t been set yet, I’m sure things will move quickly and a movie about Steve Jobs will be made in the next 18 months tops. In the mean time, you can delight yourself with a 1999 TV seriesPirates of Silicon Valley” talking about Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. The people who made all this possible. Check out the trailer below! Who do you think should play Steve Jobs in the biopic? Oh, and don’t forget about Discovery’s iGenius documentary, on October 16!
