How About Green Day’s Spring Summer 2012 Ad Campaign For John Varvatos?
January 10th, 2012 by kpriss
When I first saw the John Varvatos Spring Summer 2012 Ad Campaign, I decided to ignore it. Because I really though it was a (photoshop)fake. I still think it’s manufactured, but I happened to stumble across a Green Day classic video while trying to find a decent cartoon channel for my kids to watch (I’m really not good with television, I told you neither I nor Adored Husband count TV watching among our free time activities – we do watch a looooot of movies and TV series – only on DVD and BluRay. But I digress). So back to Green Day: I saw this video with them and this John Varvatos campaign popped in my mind. So what if it isn’t real?
Who cares nowadays? It’s a good remake (ahem adaptation) of a famous moment in time, so it passes! It’s an interesting salad of Philippe Petit’s Man on Wire and Ebbets’ Constructors Lunch, all with a rock’n’roll grin. Would people remember the original and buy Varvatos to pay homage to that? (I laughed out loud writing that last sentence!) Will they buy Varvatos because they love Green Day? Who cares? It’s just another fashion ad campaign at the end of the day and in few months another shot will erase this one from our memory!
Daniel Craig, George Clooney, Matt Damon For Vanity Fair February 2012
January 10th, 2012 by kpriss
This, my daahlings, is officially Today’s Leading Men trifecta! And they’re all on a magazine cover for your eyes delight! That’s also because, officially, the Awards Season is on a roll and we’re expected to have our eyes peeled on the movie industry heavygamers for the next couple of months. I wish this Vanity Fair cover was one of those fold – out covers (like Vogue models) with more amazing additions: Joseph Gordon – Levitt, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Leo DiCaprio, Viggo Mortensen, Captain America whatshisname, and so many others could’ve been on the cover!
Anja Rubik’s Colorful Balmain Spring Summer 2012 Ad Campaign
January 10th, 2012 by kpriss
I have this picture on my desktop for a few days and I don’t even remember where I got it! Yesterday, when I talked about Anja Rubik doing the Giuseppe Zanotti campaign, it hit me: where have I seen that format before? And finally: Balmain Spring Summer 2012 as photographed by Inez and Vinoodh! (geez! Are the other photographers in vacation, or what? yes, yes, I know Inez and Vinoodh and Anja Rubik are Balmain regulars, but still! It’s the third time I mention Inez and Vinoodh today only!)
I know it’s a different story altogether, but there’s a strangely familiar feeling to it! Yes, I’m aware it’s the same model! (forehead slap) Now take a look and tell me what you think – I love it! Don’t know if I would’ve if Anja wasn’t in it, but that minidress is surely something I’d love to wear. At least once. In the change room – I wouldn’t dare out in the open! (is that ad in mock 3D?)
Lady Gaga Determined To Sell Men Fashion Magazines
January 10th, 2012 by kpriss
…with yet another Vogue Men cover! January 2012 L’Uomo Vogue presents us Lady Gaga as photographed by Inez and Vinoodh and sporting the gradient hair (backwards, true, but still ombre!) for the Italian edition of Vogue Hommes. Bit puzzled, though, about men tastes – is android the new beauty standard? Calderone flopped or that’s just a Japan treat?
David Beckham Undresses To Sell H&M Underwear
January 10th, 2012 by kpriss
With a wee one at home, we can all understand and support David Beckham for throwing his clothes out the window and exposing himself to the world. In H&M underwear!
It’s true we’ve seen him do it before, for Armani, but I’m sure women worldwide don’t mind seeing him at it again! Just in time for Valentine’s Day 2012! So the details: David Beckham’s bodywear collection for H&M is a lucrative team embarked for a long trip. The first stop is this February, in 1,800 stores worldwide. Hopefully, if the customers are buying the new line, women (and more) around the world will see more of David Beckham sans clothes in H&M’s future ad campaigns! Happy? Sad? Indifferent? (hit the jump to make up your mind!)

Pringle Of Scotland’s Spring Summer 2012 Rocky Ad Campaign
January 10th, 2012 by kpriss
Pringle of Scotland’s ads were a league of their own for as long as I can remember. As such, we note having had Tilda Swinton as a model for the house’s past ad campaigns. Usually set in Scotland.
Now they’re “experimenting”. A very artsy picture has surfaced showing two models (ahem collages) visibly migrained down to a rock. Which they say is in Switzerland! Pringle’s design director, Alistair Carr, wanted this campaign to be elsewhere but nowhere specific in the same time. The idea is greatly illustrated using collages. It’s the headaches I don’t get! Actually I do – I get dizzy just by trying to see which is which in the picture! (David Benjamin Sherry photographed Suvi Koponen and Kati Nescher for the occasion). I miss Tilda! I do! Don’t you?
Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt In Black & White On The Red Carpet
January 10th, 2012 by kpriss
Usually matchy – matchy, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt confirmed their Red Carpet style attending yet another event in New York: New York Film Critics Circle. They wore black & white for the occasion, Angelina going back to her old love: leather and accessorizing it all with emerald jewelry. Brad had his cane (and the Best Actor Award for Moneyball and The Tree of Life).
Rad Hourani’s Latest Ad Campaign Is Beautiful. And Unisex
January 10th, 2012 by kpriss
You know when the boyfriend jean was barely starting to reveal itself as a trend, they were saying: don’t go out and buy a pair, raid your man’s / boyfriend’s / brother’s closet instead! Well, seasons have come and passed and dust settled over the boyfriend jean mania. I think. (to be honest, they’re so comfy and flattering, I’d wear them regardless of being “du passé”)
Rad Hourani’s ad campaigns keep on showing us that boyfriend’s anything can be yours. And viceversa! A unisex attitude through amazing pieces of clothing! Those black fabric and leather jackets have me all daydreaming! No need to ride anyone’s closet now, huh?
