Vogue US Michelle Obama April 2013 Cover. Reality Vs Fashion

Michelle Obama. Covering Vogue USApril 2013 issue! An event in itself, without being fashion-related or style-imposed. It’s a fact. A reality. Thankfully!

I was really surprised to see, though, that it wasn’t a well-received cover. That the fash-population is judgmental. Everything pledges against The First Lady, should she stand on fashion-trial: the style jury is looking away in a profound and unanimous yawn. I’m flabbergasted. Appalled. And, finally, resigned. It’s a mom-thing! Do you know that one of the reasons why this cover look was deemed unworthy of fashion praise was Michelle Obama’s mom hair?

Marc Jacobs Designs Diet Coke Bottles. Finally!

We may not agree on everything, but we do agree that Marc Jacobs is a fashion genius. Everything he puts on the catwalk sells out, spreads out. Instantly. Certainly.

It’s only natural that he assumes his newest mission, as a Diet Coke creative director with the highest expectations. Other fashion luminaries have done it before him but Marc was chosen for a very special edition: the 30th anniversary of Diet Coke! Thus he imagined a bottle for every decade, with different prints & different designs, three young ladies having all the fashionable fun of their times all in enjoying the privileges of Diet Coke.

Eva Mendes New Role In Vogue Eyewear 2013 Ad Campaign

Although I’m really looking forward to the premiere of her upcoming movie ‘The Place Beyond the Pines’, I’ll have to settle for another kind of role Eva Mendes is playing this year: Vogue Eyewear 2013 ambassador!

You may remember that the grand Kate Moss did their campaigns for the last couple of seasons and, although I only think the best of her, a change is more than welcome! Eva Mendes is – undoubtedly – one of the most gifted actors of her generation. Actually, her co – starring with real-life boyfriend Ryan Gosling and Oscar nominated Bradley Cooper in ‘The Place Beyond the Pines’ is what will make that movie so grand: a trio of incredibly talented young actors with such an amazing talent for both drama and comedy!

John Malkovich Technobohemian Fashion Online Collaboration

Remember when we talked about John Malkovich and his fashion brand? It was not that long ago that I actually first discovered that John Malkovich had a fashion brand to begin with, now I’m reading that he’s already getting capsule collections partnerships!

Not bad, for an actor, huh? Starting out his label in 2009, Malkovich tried to establish his refined sense of style with a series of interesting designs for men – not so much in terms of shape and construction but mostly in terms of prints, and mix of fabrics. His brand’s name is actually the best description for his perspective on fashion and I strongly believe that Technobohemian should be placed in that special repertoire or fashion words labeling this or that fashion manifestation.

Isabeli Fontana And Vogue Paris Take You To Peru With Testino, April 2013

Remember how enthusiastic I was about that special issue of Vogue Spain guest – edited by Mario Testino? It was truly a great example of what a fashion magazine can be, in my opinion. From the cover inwards, that was a flawless issue!

As opposed to that, Isabeli Fontana covering the Vogue Paris April 2013 issue, also photographed by Mario Testino and somewhat dedicated to Mario and his native Peru, isn’t all that appealing. But maybe it’s only meant to charm the French fashion eyes and not the outsiders fashion amateurs as it seems to be a very intimate issue in which Testino shares his personal favorite Peruvian spots and hangouts, treasures and hideaways.

Advertising, The Bond Style: Ewan McGregor Citroen Commercial

While going up and down the interwebs today, I came across something pretty interesting I thought you might appreciate, despite of it being an auto commercial. Yes, as in a cars commercial. Starring Ewan McGregor.

It’s not the usual Jedi cliché you may think of but something better. Don’t expect Ewan’s wave to convince us into buying the new Citroen – imagine a more subtle game. A Bond–like game. Actually – why aren’t they considering Ewan McGregor for the next Bond film? One look at the James Gray (We Own The Night, Two Lovers) directed commercial after the jump is enough to make him a very believable candidate for a Bond role.

Boss Spring Summer 2013 Ad Campaing Looks Like Versace SS09 Ad Campaign

Remember we talked about that lovely Miu Miu fashion film by Ava DuVernay a while back? I loved so much about it: the clothes, the stars, the story! But I also couldn’t help but notice the settings: the house where they did the main shooting was outstanding! I try my hand at a little décor talk every once in a while and so I notice décor, design & architectural wonders like that.

When I saw the new Boss Spring Summer 2013 ad campaign with Toni Garrn and Gabriel Aubry, my décor mechanism started ticking and I remembered – among other things – the Versace Spring Summer 2009 campaign. The two advertising initiative are so strikingly similar, I had to bring it on!

Alice Dellal, The Bag, The Horse & The Man: The New Chanel Boy Bags Campaign

Karl Lagerfeld found inspiration in Coco Chanel’s life when he conceived the new Boy Chanel Ad Campaign – in Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel’s love for horses. What’s a girl without her bag? Especially when the bag in question is a Chanel?

And what’s a girl without her man? Especially when it references Coco’s paramours, Arthur ‘Boy’ Capel. And last but not least, what’s a girl without her horse? We’re in 2013, dahlings. Good $-fortunate people like to keep their equestrian ways still. For image purposes.
