Helen Mirren Is A Marks & Spencer Designer?
December 16th, 2008 by kpriss
With Matthew Williamson flying from Debenbams to Hennes and Mauritz, I see a possible further collaboration between Dame Helen Mirren and British retail giant Marks & Spencer as a normal one!
After all, we all noticed how all boutiques only sell sleeveless clothes, haven’t we? Dame Helen Mirren saw that too and she’s up for a designer challenge, aiming mostly dresses. DWS will be the name of her brand, and that comes from Dresses With Sleeves! I have very high esteem for Dame Mirren and her elegant signature style, but do we really need another celeb-turned-designer? I see plenty of dresses with sleeves! And even if there were not enough of those, couldn’t a simple suggestion be enough in order to produce more sleeves? (via telegraph.co.uk)
The Beautiful XXist Candlestick By Victor Vetterlein
December 16th, 2008 by kpriss
You must remember Victor Vetterlein’s beautiful creations! Starting with the great crystal shaped jewelry case, then the YO speakers dock, he really is on an inspiration spree!
He just send me the pictures of his last signature project: a candlestick called XXist. Said to be symbolizing Birth, Live and Death, the symmetrical design of this candlestick is very appealing to me. Because I like regular shapes, simple yet efficient in purpose and aesthetics. The XXist candlestick is made of aluminum and available in white, red, gold and black. I think they’d all make a great visual effect, each in a different color, what do you say?
Hayden Panettiere’s New And Improved Style
December 15th, 2008 by kpriss
You may remember that a while back I was wondering if Heroes actors don’t get paid according to their TV-show cash-ins! Because our favorite Cheerleader wasn’t saving her looks, let alone the world!
She must have read Stylefrizz because ever since we were alarmed by her wearing the same clothes, she changed her style. For the better. No more dressing like a granny when you’re in your teen years! One of the latest (good) examples was an appearance at Kohl, San Gabriel, California (acting like a spokesface for Candie). I know skinny isn’t really a valued trend anymore, but it goes wonderfully when you’re 19 years old. Matched with a black and white striped t-shirt is simply ageless. She could’ve changed her mommy’s shoes with her own, but let’s forgive that and encourage her for showing her age and changing her same ol’ skirt, shall we? (photos via justjared)
Avant-Fashion Without Moderation By Stefano Gabbana
December 15th, 2008 by kpriss
You know I have a thing against pre-season fashion shows. Meaning I don’t keep the fashion shows up to presenting date because I think it’s amoral. Because I don’t want to think about summer when it’s snowing and I don’t want to go boots hunting when I’m wearing bikini.
I may have been in minority until now because the big names of fashion are getting tired of this pre-season madness. And by that I guess you know what I mean – Stefano Gabbana’s recent declarations:
“I don’t want cherries or strawberries at Christmas anymore. I want to eat, dress and live on time. I think we all need to sit back and ponder over this anxiety we all have of constantly needing to anticipate,”
This may seem plain utopia to most fashion makers who need the stylist’s cahier to work the upcoming collection, but to the average fashion consumers it’s order in chaos. I love being au courant with every fashion news avant anyone else, but is it really fun to know every detail of those summer collections when you’re getting ready for a snow fight? (via wwd)

Kate Hudson For InStyle US January 2009 By Stella McCartney
December 15th, 2008 by kpriss
InStyle goes with something unusual for the January issue! With Kate Hudson as covergirl, the main interview of the magazine’s, with the very covergirl, is handled by none the other but Stella McCartney!
When and how did she became a journalist, it’s beyond my understanding. But I guess if celebs can turn designers, fashion graduates can turn to being just a celeb anytime. Especially when being born and raised in showbiz, like a McCartney. However, it seems InStyle turns to pairing celebs like a sure ticket for success. Whether it’ll be that way or not, it’s only a matter of time and popular taste. So I’m turning to you, asking if there’s any chance Kate Hudson by Stella McCartney for InStyle could be the beginning of a new, brilliant journalism? And how about the pictures? Is this celeb duo more appealing than the average magazine product? (via phun.org, wwd)

Light Drops For The Rainy Days Diva
December 15th, 2008 by kpriss
After the glowing purse, now here comes another one of those glitzy wonderful inventions ready to bright up your days! Especially your rainy ones!
The LightDrops Umbrella by Sang-Kyun Park is an ordinary looking umbrella with a special add-on: it carries an intelligent membrane conducting the energy from the falling rain to the embedded LEDs, lighting up instantly (and changing intensity – heavier the rain gets, brighter the LEDs shine!). I don’t know if standing under the umbrella light it’ll turn you into a star, but at least it’ll help you find the way in the rain! Would you buy one of those if they went into mass production? (via)
Naomi Campbell Does Vogue China January 2009
December 15th, 2008 by kpriss
From that beautiful Mixte pictorial to this Vogue China, it seems Naomi became a different person! Gone is the cheerful, colored mood, here to stay the gloomy, dark and tacky!
Even if I like the Asian editions of Vogue, even if I think they’re to bring true glamour to worn out Vogue, I cannot appreciate Naomi’s cover (and pictorial) as being a gorgeous one. She can’t make up for the lack of styling in a photo shoot, can she? So, in my view, whoever did this, bid more on Naomi’s beauty and fame than on the photos in question. Do you think this is a good cover? In compensation, I added a beauty pictorial attached to the very January Issue of Vogue China, a truly beautiful one, even if the model is Ali Stephens and not the great Naomi Campbell! Who’s your favorite now? (photos via tfs)
Easy Like Monday Morning
December 15th, 2008 by kpriss
You may wonder where did the “Easy Like Sunday Morning” disappear! It did not vanished! It came in full force on Monday Morning to help you start a better than ever new week! Now, other than saying that there’s a picture following, more words have so little meaning! I was looking for that special “Easy” moment to share but in my search I found this glorious image and, guess what? it simply wouldn’t fade from my head!
Simply charming, close to being a brilliant picture, it really rules out the question photoshopped or not, leaving me with only non-existential Monday-dilemmas. It’s a long way till Friday, ain’t it? (photo via pixdaus)
