How To Choose Your Sunscreen
June 28th, 2010 by kpriss
The time is now, as the hot season is upon us and there’s no escape from the burning sun. However, I’ll keep this one brief and informative, because you have the right to know that you usual sunscreen may be of no help, or worse!
A study has been conducted by the Environmental Working Group and some frightening facts came to light. For instance – did you know that some higher than 50 SPF (sun protection factor) don’t mean higher protection also? And that some vitamin A used in sunscreens (retinyl palmitate) is also helping skin tumors develop? (more info right after the jump!)
Angelina Jolie’s Vanity Fair August 2010
June 28th, 2010 by kpriss
With a catchy cover title like “Farewell Angelina” one might walk right into the media trap set by Vanity Fair in their August 2010 issue and ask “wait, what?”. Luckily, they also added a question mark to that cover title. So we won’t really fall into it.
If my memory serves me right, this is the first interview Angelina is gracing this year. Is it? And I’m guessing also (which isn’t hard to do, after all) that it’s a marketing do, since her Salt movie is coming up soon. (which wouldn’t justify her look, recently adopted for filming her latest role in “The Tourist”, but hey, who are we to judge the marketing maneuvers of the young and the beautiful?). Angelina Jolie on the cover of Vanity Fair. Pretty dramatic look, pretty grown up attitude, I guess the “Farewell” was well placed: Farewell Angie! We will always miss you! Angelina is nothing compared to you! (if you’re interested, there’s a fragment of her interview here; photo via)

Lindstrom And Christabelle Lovesick
June 28th, 2010 by kpriss
Every now and then, I jump off the pattern of movie/Friday breaks. And then I bring you some new, persistent musical obsession I’m experiencing. Because I want to share so much with you!
This week it’s Lindstrom and Christabelle with an amazing piece called Lovesick. It’s their first album and Lovesick it’s mighty powerful, please experience it and tell me what you think! Thank you for this amazing week and your wonderful comments! I trust you had a wonderful week end and you’re now ready to rock and roll the new week! (more info right after the jump! I initially included the original video of this song. However, given that it was removed by the user, the video wasn’t available anymore. I had to opt for a still image as video instead of leaving it out altogether. I hope you’ll still enjoy the music, though!)
Madonna’s Material Girl Collection Hits Macy’s This August
June 25th, 2010 by kpriss
You knew about it, you’ve heard about it and as the weeks go by, you’ll be exhausted by the campaign, the looks, the Material Girl. Yes, Madonna’s Material Girl (you clearly don’t expect me to call this “Lourdes” ‘ collection, do you?) is Madonna’s chance to live her young years over and over again.
And impose her Madgestic will on us! With accessible prices (ranging from $12 to $40) and what I’m sure it’ll be an aggressive ad campaign (starting next week – June 29), looks like the ones sketched below will flood 200/300 Macy’s stores nationwide. Now really, Madonna, do you really expect us to believe a this is what a 13yo’s wardrobe should actually look like? (via)

Lauryn Hill’s Style Evolution
June 25th, 2010 by kpriss
You missed Lauryn Hill, I know you did! And even if you didn’t, then know that I did! So very much! Lauryn Hill’s voice and her singing ways – I loved her so much!
Whatever happened to Lauryn, though, is a mystery to me. At least fashion wise. I haven’t had a personal approach of this sensitive matter, someone else did traced Lauryn’s life/style evolution and it goes like this. For more images, click through. I hope this won’t turn into a save Lauryn Hill’s style meme soon… (via)
Designer Dolls Spring Summer 2010 By Andrew Yang
June 25th, 2010 by kpriss
Commissioned by The Block magazine for their 20th issue, these dolls were made by Andrew Yang, dolls creator extraordinaire. They look amazing, tres haute couture and ready to be part of your collection (that if you’re willing to spend more than $1,000 for a single doll).
The dolls were inspired by Ann Demeulemeester – Givenchy, Comme des Garcons (for the Siamese twins), Katie Eary, Gareth Pugh, Rick Owens, Lanvin, Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler. To this date, three are already sold: Proenza, Comme des Garcons and Ann Demeulemeester – Givenchy. However, there’s much more in Andrew Yang’s collection and if you’re a doll passionate, the least you could do is take a peak at his fantastic world. Don’t they look magic? (via)
