Now let’s get the obvious out of the way: sure I was going to bring Emma Watson’s Vogue UK cover on board! Bring on the “men of style”! I’m guilty as charged!
Getting a December 2010cover feels like one of the most normal things to do with the new Harry Potter soon in theaters. (can’t believe we’re talking about December covers already! I still feel the summer pouring down my veins!) With her new cut and her new un-Hermione approach, Emma looks and feels like a breeze of fresh air (sure, if we count the Twiggy flavor out). Now how do you feel about Emma Watson (photographed by Mario Testino) on the cover of a fashion magazine? Again. (hit the jump for more images, click here for the gallery!)
How’s that possible? If I only had a hint of what was going to happen, I would have hold on to that Vogue Paris story and today a side by side comparison would have seen the light of Stylefrizz. Oh well…
October 2010 was Lara Stone’s Vogue Paris month – Vogue UK has her on the November 2010 cover, as photographed by Alasdair McLellan (should we expect a Vogue US December 2010 cover? Just for the fun of it). Clearly worlds apart from the unsubtle Vogue Paris cover, Lara Stone’s bleached eyebrows look feels much more familiar. Plus Britain is her official home now, following her marriage, so a next-girl-look was more than appropriate. It’s a good cover, irreproachable, however in no particular way outstanding. In its own posh, quiet way, Vogue UK brings on the celebrity, don’t you think? (click through to discover more images, click here for the gallery!) (photos via)
As moths go by and fasheditorials ensue, I feel there’s little space left where I go run and hide from Lara Stone and her “iconic” fashlook. She’s the great new find, she’s the greatest thing that happened to fashion magazines since Kate Moss. Now can you please take her out of my face?
It may be just my old fashioned self talking, however, I would have been immensely delighted if Carine Roitfeld would have opted for a more subtle aesthetic when it comes to Lara Stone. Sure, that’s not the way Vogue Paris operates. Especially not for their 90th anniversary issue, October 2010. Oh, no! Let’s make it masque, the world will surely rejoice celebrating the excess we’re pretending to live on! (more images right after the jump!)
This may not look as good as Manolo Blahnik’s home (partly because it lacks life and actual fashion and mostly because it lacks the vision of the talented photographer), however, do take a look at Anna Wintour’s summer house!
It’s her Long Island property, reworked and redesigned to fit her Vogue-ish Majesty with all the royal comfort and style she deserves! The result is pretty much symmetrical to whatever fashion standard she’s trying to maintain in her Vogue editor offices, as celeb ready and artificially natural as possible. However, it’s Anna Wintour herself who said it best:
“…an 1834 farmhouse, with loads of additions and 12 poky bedrooms. It had a perplexing reception room with difficult, though grand, proportions. It had lawns that tumbled down toward a beautiful-to-the-eye, toxic-to-everything-else river. It had nearly 25 acres of difficult trees in deer-infested woods. It was, as we say at Vogue, challenging.”
um… yes, Anna, the nature is pretty challenging usually. And pretty as it is. But then again, there must be some kind of Photoshop ops for natural environments also. You can have a glimpse at what was before the Summer House of Wintour right after the jump! (tA via NYmag)
Why is Cheryl Cole relevant for the fashion industry? Oh, I know, I know, I should be asking this every time a non-model or a fashion outsider covers a fashion magazine. Still, I’m ready to forgive and forget, close my eyes and get on with the show. When a good cover happens.
This Cheryl Cole Vogue UK October 2010cover is so wrong, so eye hurting and fashion insulting, I can’t bring myself around to digest it. Everyone loves Cheryl Cole. It’s a fashion. Get a highly media – covered divorce and you get a DemarchelierVogue cover as bonus. Great deal, eh? (Voguevia)
That’s the way that art goes, gross and beyond any other comment! Thank you, Lady Gaga, for teaming up with one of fashion’s most notorious persona non grata (at least in my books)! (that’s Terry Richardson, in case the cover was too discrete in announcing it)
It makes it so much easier to loathe what you did and the visual product of your so-called artsyness! Lady Gaga, my daaahlings, thought the idea of her transcending into Jo Calderone was (maybe) too subtle for the masses of monsters so she got her true self out, on the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan. This issue truly made the world a better place. Not. (via)
Have you heard about Charisma? No. How about Gabriel Aubry? yeeees? oh, well then… Gabriel Aubry has been the target of an unusual amount of publicity. Not because he’s a male model and he suddenly got all the campaigns. Oh, no! A woman is behind Gabriel Aubry’s success. Two, actually: Halle Berry and little Nahla.
Now the split between the two was official (and Vogue approved), Gabriel may return to his normal model – life. No more paps constantly on him. I wonder, though, after seeing the clip (it’s just for appx 4 minutes. Easy Monday entertainment), was he ever this smug and self absorbed? It’s distracting. It also distracts his neurons. They’re obviously in vacation or something… (via)
Did you know that Vogue Paris had a Children Supplement Edition? I didn’t! If you’re aware of any related details, please share, I find it most interesting!
Not just because I’m a mother myself, but because it has so many implications. Look at the Beauty Supplement – who’s raising eyebrows when reading its Malgosia Belacover announcing that the contents revolve around hair and how to style your hair for the fall? In exchange, when you’re looking at the Enfants Supplement you’re feeling itchy for more! You want to see what’s inside! Because children are fun, children are the future!
