Gucci Spring-Summer 2008 Ad Campaign

I was impressed with these pictures. Normally I don’t fall for advertising campaigns, except when there’s something deeper than clothing (or accessories) involved. I wrote about the Marc Jacobs campaign and the one from Pepe Jeans London because I thought it was something more to them than mere tagging.

Gucci Spring Summer 2008 was not all dresses, skirts, pants or shoes. It was all pictures! Beautiful pictures of beautiful things (i started with my favorite-the one with the shoes). Enjoy!

5 Resort Dresses for 2008

I’ve been meaning to resume the Resort 2008 Collections for inspirational reasons. Picking up 5 of the dresses that I found wearable and beautiful at the same time was not an easy task, but pleasant nonetheless.

You can find printed dresses and simple dresses in this little Resort Dresses Selection. From a simple white dress from Botega Venetta to the floor-length-printed-dress from Yves Saint Laurent, there’s a little bit of everything in this selection. The fifties inspired printed dress form Tory Burch is refreshing and simple. The flower-printed from Versace is sophisticated yet easy to wear and the Richard Chai layered dress is one little wonder I’d count happily in my ideal wardrobe.

Natalie Portman Te Casan Collection Unveiled

For someone who declares wearing shoes from Stella McCartney, Natalie Portman has set her inner-designer free in an awkward manner.

Shoes made from alternative materials (politically correctness for no leather involved), a noble, enthusiastic and harm free project that puts the world on hold awaiting the marvelous collection. Well, well, well, no need to put everything else on hold, go spend those “Té Casan” economies on the last days of sales, it’s really beyond any disappointment! It’s a style came from a galaxy far, far away from our system of fashion respectful products. Enjoy the view (and go buy a pair if it’s your granny’s birthday .. or grandgrandmother’s..for the sake of those 5% going to charity)

UPDATE: Not long ago, I discovered a little video with Natalie Portman presenting her own Te Casan Collection. Enjoy!

My 2008 Spring-Summer Wishlist – Alessandro Dell’Acqua and Alexander McQueen

UPDATE: Alexander McQueen sadly is no longer among us, read more here.

Today I give you the fourth episode of the Wishlist Series. I wanted to get you all inspired from Alessandro Dell’Acqua and Alexander McQueen, but the truth is, I haven’t had much of a choice.
So I’m stuck with McQueen, after all. Hoping you feel the same way, here’s my 2008 Spring Summer with Alessandro Dell’Acqua and Alexander McQueen.

Alessandro Dell’Acqua 2008 Spring-Summer Collection
I’m not into latex or any rubber-ized thing-to-wear-as-a-regular-outfit. Neither am I a suicidal in matters of lingerie or wearing it to cut off any mood on earth.

So the Spring-Summer 2008 Collection from Alessandro Dell’Acqua was, in my opinion completely style offending. However, I chosed one outfit to present you at least one decent element from the Dell’Acqua runway.

I would not wear it, personally, it’s kindda edgy in a bad “working” way, but nevertheless, one of the most respectful outfits of the collection.

The 2008 Spring Summer looks all grey for Alexander McQueen. I cannot complain for this special combination of grey-white-red it’s particularly appealing to my heart. The 3 colored dresses are all different but interesting.

Alexander McQueen Spring-Summer 2008 Collection

The Asian-construction of the kimono-dress in degrade it’s not for any kind of occasion, but I admit it pleases the eye. Though it’s not a joyful print, the strapless printed dress is indeed wearable. Same goes for the feather-printed dress with an impressive v-neck.

Alexander McQueen Spring-Summer 2008

The two metallic dresses are interesting more in shape and use of material than in wearing result. They look very architectural and even if I’d feel honored wearing them, I’d still think twice before putting them on, as it’s all in the occasion.

Looked at in the wrong way, McQueen looses his tailoring genius. It just gets odd and hermetical.

Daria Werbowy and Ashton Kutcher Electric Pepe Jeans

David Sims gives us a new image of Daria and Ashton. They were pictured for the legendary Pepe Jeans London Ad Campaign following Sienna Miller as representatives for the Spring Summer 2008 Collection.

Disco but boho-chic outfitted, they both leave a strong impression. Looking forward for the others pictures of the campaign.

Victoria Beckham for Marc Jacobs Ad Campaign – Unexpectably Funny

It’s been only few days since the photos of the advertising campaign for Marc Jacobs were issued and now everyone’s talking about them. Especially after Posh’s special appearance in the famous Blackwell list as the worst dressed celebrity, people wandered more and more how could Marc Jacobs have chose her to pose in his Spring Summer Ad Campaign.

When we saw the first pictures, we instantly knew why! Not to worry, though, we are promised a lot more ads for the following months.

We thought the funniest thing would be to show the Victoria Beckham ads that don’t show Victoria Beckham, but just to see those legs coming out of the bag.(…)
‘People will think it’s an odd choice for me to have made, and people will think it’s odd for you to do. I mean, you’re not really my girl,’ although I never think that I have one. (…)
And I said, ‘I like the idea of you being this product, and you being this product that Marc Jacobs producing, like a doll or something, I explained it to Juergen and he made the big shopping bag and a big box and had Victoria dressed in our clothes.

The images are humorous and ironic. (…)You can’t be afraid to experiment with fashion, especially when working with Marc and Juergen — you have to push the envelope and show a different side.
“Marc is a genius, I completely trusted his vision and the opportunity to work with Juergen again after so many years was a privilege.

I wanted you to know the story behind the Marc Jacobs Ad Campaign as it’s been told by the main persons involved. Not only because it’s always good to know what designers have in mind when doing something with their collections, but also because it’s funny and unexpected. Not many are successful in the quest for original especially when having to work with such powerful images.

From my point of view, Marc Jacobs pulled off a genuine “coup de génie”.

Louboutin Shoes Match Any Occasion – Jessica Alba Peep Toe Pumps

We agree on the simple fact that Louboutin shoes are simply gorgeous? I assume we do, since it’s also a commercial known fact.

We also have to agree that a heavy named accessory goes with everything – from tracksuits to bikini. This time goes-with-everything-accessory is a pair of pumps. Beige, peep-toe, red-sole.
Guess I’d be talking about Christian Louboutin, then.

Here’s an example of day-to-night Platform Peep-toe pump:
Showing up all pink ladylike for the V-Day 10th anniversary and then for a casual look making a shopping stop at Barney’s.

Feeling she could set up a trend, Jessica wore the same pink cardigan too (and the same clutch, same earrings but who’s keeping track when we’re set on the Louboutins?).

Inès de la Fressange Paris Sales Ambassador

Winter sales in Paris, “les soldes” were declared officially started on Tuesday, January the 8th at the 6th floor of the renowned store “Printemps de la Mode”.

“Soldes by Paris” is meant to transform the French capital in a shopping must for Europe, just like London is.
The opening was supervised by Inès de la Fressange, Chanel muse and Jean Paul Gaultier consultant designer.

Inès de la Fressange Soldes by Paris

The Soldes by Paris operation counts:

• 209 euros the daily spent for the average tourist in Paris
• 69 days of sales per year
• 8 “grand magasins” – big stores in Paris
• 6.800 fashion stores concerned by the sales
• 16.000 retails concerned by the Paris sales
• 62.000 proximity retails in Paris

If you’re in Paris, by any chance, within January 9-20 for the sales period, then you’ll find these shopping circuits very useful!

The clock is ticking for the countdown it’s already at its middle point. We’ll exchange opinions on this famous operation’s impact after January 20th since I’ll be taking the trip to see the “soldes” in motion myself.
