Timeless Cate Blanchett Does Harper’s Bazaar Australia, May 2013

It’s been a while since we last talked about Cate Blanchett, huh? But talking about her has no limit of time or topic, as Cate is just like this May 2013 Harper’s Bazaar issue she’s covering: Timeless!

Photographed by Steven Shee, Cate is as beautiful as always and the cover needs no further styling beyond this simple black and white picture just surfaced. Can you believe that Harper’s cover title quoting Cate Blanchett saying ‘Chaos is my friend’? I honestly can’t. But I guess I’m too much into her Hobbit character to imagine her otherwise but elfishly perfect! Her birthday is next month, May 14th and she’ll be turning 44. Flawless! I would buy this magazine issue for the cover alone, and the promise of reading about Cate inside!

Nicola Formichetti No Longer Designing For Mugler

With Lady Gaga in recovery after having had hip surgery, the news about Nicola Formichetti’s departure from Mugler is raising all kinds of question marks in my head. Isn’t Gaga his muse anymore? Isn’t Formichetti’s style propane-enough to launch and sustain the Mugler label any further?

Until this sudden departure’s mystery will be solved, we only have the delightful speculations to push back and forth, about what lead to the Mugler separation from Nicola Formichetti or viceversa. They said it was mutual, so we put things in whatever perspective we like (‘mutual’ is usually the politically correct explanation for any and all reasons).

Dare To Wear, Home Edition: Message Pillows By Pilloe

Yesterday I mentioned a delightful discovery for the home: the bedding sets for girls and boys. Who did appear to be pretty controversial, true, but what’s life without a little controversy? Hoping that today’s little home find will bring a smile on your lovely faces, here I go: no pink, no helmets this time!

Pilloe Company is a young company reaching out for support. And always melt when support is involved, especially for the young creative talents struggling to reach out to wider audiences. Only 5 designs are available for now but, if given the opportunity, I was told they’ll expand to 25. I’m a simple girl, I like a simple design and a simple story. And I can only hope it was also honest and truthful.

Sasha Pivovarova, Back In Modeling Shape: Interview Craig McDean Pictorial

You know I have a serious weakness for Sasha Pivovarova. And you also know I pretty much follow all her fashion moves. Well, the gorgeous lady seems to be back at her fashion routine after having had her baby. We’ve seen her walk the Proenza Schouler show, here she is in a lovely pictorial.

Amid the vivid rumors speculating on Gemma Ward’s return on the catwalk and in fashion magazines, Sasha, who looks like she and Gemma had been separated at birth, is more than just a comeback rumor. She’s actually working her way back in fashion, and she’s doing with the same excellence as always. Must be because she’s not sporting the infamous mom-hair? Possibly. Maybe. The fashpopulation is an unfaithful crowd, ready to turn their back on anyone with no previous warning or justifiable cause.

Want Gwyneth Paltrow’s Nails? Here’s Gwyneth’s Butter London Nail Polish Collection!

It’s not a collaboration per se, more like a selection. Gwyneth Paltrow and Butter London decided to team up for a special offering. Five nail polish sets have been cleverly assembled for Gwyneth’s Goop followers.

All from Butter London, a well-respected nail polish brand offering mindful, conscious nail products. Free of Formaldehyde, Toluene or DBP, the 3F standards are met and respected in each case, should you opt for a Candy Coated set or a simple duo of Top and Tails (base coat and top coat). I rather like Gwyneth’s Goop projects and, since I’m a self confessed nail polish addict, this one really caught my attention.

Hedi Slimane Rocking Musicians And Fashion Together In New Campaign

Days ago, just before Easter, I came across a picture of Marilyn Manson in what appeared to be a Saint Laurent ad. I was partly shocked, partly in denial so I moved on. Today I forcefully became aware of the reality I wasn’t allowing myself to acknowledge days earlier: Marilyn Manson is, indeed, part of the Spring Summer 2013 Saint Laurent Paris Ad Campaign.

There’s more: also starring in the same campaign are Courtney Love, Kim Gordon, Ariel Pink. All shot by Hedi Slimane, biensur. The grand Yves Saint Laurent has never been a rock’n’roll stranger, having dressed the iconic Mick Jagger for his wedding to Bianca. But this is a tad too much, though. This is like working too much on a potentially inspiring concept – exhausting the inspiration and transgressing into obsession.

Backpacks Are The New It-Bags: DIY Polka Dot Backpack

Ever since they started they fashion adventure, the Olsen sisters managed to create hit after hit. The hipster value of whatever brand they tie their name to is higher by the season and more expensive by the stitch.

Take this polka-dot backpack, part of a special 12-pieces collection we talked about a while ago: it’s just a leather-looking backpack with colorful appliqué dots on signed Damien Hirst. And still, if you want it from the Olsen sister’s The Row label, you’d have to find it in your heart and in your pocket to pay unreasonable loads of money for what you can do yourself with less than $200.

Freshface: Maria Borges

It’s been a while since our last Freshface post, huh? We see so many lovely faces, so many charming models nowadays that it all blends in, in a sea of catwalk beauty with no end.

We’re not living the supermodels era anymore (well, duh?!) and the widespread of the modeling has as many pros as it has cons. Sure, there’s still a handful of girls who have taken the lead and come as favorite for this or that designer, but then there are the newcomers, like this towering Angolan angel Maria Borges. Stunningly beautiful, amazingly fit and so graceful that it’s impossible to think that she won’t make it big one of these days.
