These Beauties Can Sing: Gisele, Miranda & Keira!

I’m convinced you’ve heard all about Gisele Bundchen and Miranda Kerr both releasing cover songs this week! But have you heard about Keira Knightley releasing her own music? sort of. In a movie. With Adam Levine and Ceelo Greene though! And Mark Ruffallo! (the movie is called Begin Again and looks like the perfect rom-com with a hint of rock’n roll)

Gisele is here, Gisele is there, Gisele is everywhere these day! But so is Miranda Kerr… So before getting to Keira’s singing, let’s see what else do these two supermodels have in common?

Both Gisele Bundchen and Miranda Kerr are very successful models in their 30s and although they’re both mothers & married (Gisele has two children with her husband, Tom Brady, Miranda has a son with Orlando Bloom – they’re currently separated, no word of reconciliation at the horizon) they both snapped back in model-shape faster than we realized they were pregnant at all!

Both Gisele Bundchen and Miranda Kerr were Victoria’s Secret Angels Although they both hung their wings now, the lingerie giant propelled them into the spotlight and no matter how many glorious Haute Fashion catwalks they’ll appear in, they’ll forever be ‘Victoria’s Secret Angels’ although they both advertised for giant fashion retailers. From Louis Vuitton to H&M, it seems, there’s just one little step for Gisele Bundchen! And from the Dior catwalk into Mango’s catalogs, it’s just a dimpled smile away for Miranda Kerr.

Mixing high fashion with affordable fashion is part of their work portfolio. Now, both Gisele Bundchen and Miranda Kerr recorded and released songs! Remember last fall when H&M released their ad campaign with a soundtrack signed by Gisele Bundchen? Well, it must’ve been a real success!

Gisele Bundchen sings Heart of Glass

H&M Spring Summer 2014 ad campaign is not only fronted but also accompanied by Gisele who covered Blondie’s ‘Heart of Glass’ with a little help from Bob Sinclair.

No match for the original song and glamour oozed by rock’s glam diva, Debbie Harry, but a nice try and, definitely, a fabulous body as Gisele languorously shows off H&M’s swimsuit collection for the 2014 Summer.

Miranda Kerr sings You’re The Boss

Miranda released her single via the generous and viral Internet ways. A duet with Bobby Fox covering Elvis Presley & Ann-Margaret’s You’re The Boss. A playful, sweet way of bringing back the original song that was considered a too-hot song to be featured on the soundtrack of Viva Las Vegas as the two co-stars (Elvis and Ann-Margaret) allegedly fell in love while filming the movie.

As we’ve seen before, Gisele and Miranda are not the first models who tried showcasing their singing talents – will they be as successful as Karen Elson or Carla Bruni? Or will their musical adventures be only limited to ads (Miranda sung in a Lipton commercial before) and parties like Kate Moss always does?

Keira is better than the two models singers wannabes before and that’s why I kept the best for last! And she’s not better just because she has a better voice (which, by the way, she doesn’t, as we’ve heard her before) but because her singing is authentic. It was written for her and performed by her in a movie that seems great and it just feels real! No re-mastering with a music chief like Bob Sinclair, no swimsuits to dazzle the attention away from the empty singing. No crooner to sustain half the charm of a dusty, old song. Just a folk-ish Keira being all lovely and cheerful in movie! yaay for real-ness!

As an added bonus, here’s Gisele Bundchen’s campaign for H&M Summer 2014:

Sorry, sorry, sorry…… why? Even though I’m in love with Mark Ruffalo I didn’t make it through the whole trailer! Let alone the film with Adam Levine? But I have to agree, Keira is lovely and sounds authentic plus I like her. But when the movie will be once available for rent on my movie channel subscription and it’s such an evening when I need a feel-good-movie I probably watch it nonetheless. My guess is this is a feel-good-movie? Famous rock singer dumps his cute talented girlfriend Keira, Adam Levine as himself, Mark Ruffalo charming as ever shows up and sees her talent and all ends good and happy. Yes, I gave the trailer a second chance after all. ;) :)
As for these other two ladies, not exactly my favorite models, please girls, don’t sing, shut up and look pretty! Do your job, just be pretty and sell illusions. Especially Gisele killing Heart of Glass…. ugh…… Hmm, Karen Elson made a great album, she has real talent. I listened a lot to her album. Carla Bruni is not my style of music (that French whisper singing) and she has writing skills, plays guitar like Karen.

So here’s on of my favorite Blondie tracks in certain cases and the Queen Debbie herself tells it like it is. ;)

“Yeah, you know her
Vera Vogue on Parade
Yeah, you know her
With the fish eating grin”

Last time I admired Mark Ruffalo’s acting skills, he was co-starring Gwyneth Paltrow (and others as well, but she was his direct opponent, so-to-say), it was ‘Thank you for Sharing’ – what an amazing performance! I think I threw in a story about the movie, I loved it so much, I couldn’t resist sharing my feelings about it…

I love singing (I think my kids would testify to that wholeheartedly as almost any school run turns into a car-concert :) ) but I for some reason, I believe singing shouldn’t be a democratic process – at least not one that would be distributed to large audiences :) So I completely feel you and your opinions about Gisele!

Karen seems like an artistic soul through and through (must be in the redhead genes ;) ) whereas Carla Bruni sounds perfect for lullabies = she should do a lullaby-only album! hih
