February 21st, 2008 by kpriss
Everybody’s getting ready for the big Red Carpet Event. Now that the strike’s off, people want to really make this Oscar night a celebration.
Swarovski teamed up with Rodarte, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Libertine, Jovovich-Hawk, Alabama Chanin to make one-of-a-kind dresses embroided with selected diamonds. The results were exhibited from Tuesday at Chateau Marmont (bungalow one) and will remain there until tomorrow.

Fashion Photographers Portfolio – Mario Testino
February 20th, 2008 by kpriss
I was always forced to blush and look away from a discussion about fashion photographers. I knew the names, saw them everywhere, but wasn’t quite able to make the difference or tell which was what.
By starting out this mini-series, I’m hoping to get things brighten up, at least a little bit so when it comes to fashion photographers, we won’t have to change the subject ever again. Or at least about some of them…I hope you’ll find this useful, I’m counting on you to tell me if I’m hoping right.
Today we’re dealing with Mario Testino. A Peruvian born photographer, he was first set out to study economics, law and international relations but he moved on to London to begin photography training.
Isabelle Adjani is the New Lancel Ambassador
February 20th, 2008 by kpriss
Isabelle Adjani found herself a new role. Marc Lelandais, the chairman of Lancel talked her into accepting this part after a Marie Stuart theater representation.
After sweet-talking her with proposals to represent the “french légèreté”, he declared that it was an artistic meeting with a soul supplement. She climbed on board with great enthusiasm and it’s said that she would carry the role for the next two years.
She’s also manifesting a great interest in taking her design-shot (how could she have done it differently since everyone’s into design lately?) at a Lancel bag:
“You’re never proper served except when doing it yourself.” So she’ll create a model “soft and at the same time oversize and structured. Beautiful but most of all functional. I’d love slipping some hidden drawers to the bag.”
Rumor has, the upcoming bag will cost approximately $700. A true bargain!
How incredibly fascinating and innovating! Imagine that her bag will be called “l’Adjani”! Exquisite!
And when taking a look at her oh-so-convinced-face when posing alongside Lancel Bags it makes me run screaming for mercy!
So? Happy with this piece of news? Can’t wait to get your hands on that perfect-l’Adjani-Lancel?

Eva Longoria Advertises for Skimpies
February 20th, 2008 by kpriss
I guess the Writers Guild strike made life hard to live for anyone in the movie business, not only in fashion industry.
I remember Eva declaring in an interview that the strike has kept her in the kitchen or plain eating for some months now (and if you’ve seen some of her pictures lately, you’ll notice she was very sincere on that).
Anyway, I wasn’t aware that the “Desperate Housewifes” could end up these desperate… Today I found these pictures of Eva Longoria posing (or at least allegedly posing) for an advertising campaign for Skimpies underwear.

Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson at the Other Boleyn Girl Premiere in London
February 19th, 2008 by kpriss
Last time I saw these two girls for a red carpet night out I took it all on Natalie. I shouldn’t have! Seems like now she’s redeeming and looking stunning and modest as usual (well, if you overlook the scarf).
Scarlett, on the other hand, is looking like the last chicken tin-foiled I cooked and now it’s stored in the fridge. If I take Scarlett and exchange her with my tin foiled chicken, you wouldn’t see the difference (ahem.. except for that bad-taste-arm-tatoo that my roasted chicken really doesn’t sport)! Or maybe I’m just exceedingly hungry?
You tell me – how about Scarlett’s dress? she’s pulling a Nicole Kidman on us? Or she’s perfectly charming?
Dress of the Day – Nina Ricci L’Air du Temps by Olivier Theyskens
February 19th, 2008 by kpriss
Olivier Theyskens drew this sketch the first days spent at Nina Ricci wanting to create a spiral sensation, like the dress would take off on its own. The dress was presented as part of the Spring-Summer 2007 Collection.
Said to be inspired by the very bottle of “L’Air du Temps”, this dress hits me like an urban fairy tale.
It’s supposed that every little girl dreams about her wedding day, the day she’ll get to wear a crinoline dress and look like a princess.
I don’t recall dreaming about crinolines or wedding days, yet this gown is so princess-like to me that it contradicts my memory.
It looks like a doll’s dress after years and years, like it was forgotten somewhere and survived an atomic bomb attack.
Shoes of the Day – Nike Talk Trash
February 19th, 2008 by kpriss
Fashion is definitely into recycling! The Nike Trash Talk is the result of Nike and Steve Nash (from Phoenix Suns) collaboration.
The upper of this sport shoe is puzzled together using zig-zag stitching from leather and synthetic leather waste. The mid sole is made from scrap-ground foam, the outsoles includes Nike Grind material from footwear outsole manufacturing waste.
Christina Aguilera Jewelry Line with Stephen Webster
February 19th, 2008 by kpriss
News flash – We remain in jewelry-land as we find out that new mum Christina Aguilera has found yet another way to keep herself busy and her bank accounts full.
Besides selling out the baby photos like every other celebrity mum, she’s signing for a line of jewelry named “Shattered” with her friend, Stephen Webster (I’ve gathered some of his creations in a picture so you’ll see his work).
Stephen is the designer of her $114,000 engagement ring (with a large diamond set in a diamond-encrusted white gold or platinum band). The new Christina-made (of course, like we’re really supposed to believe that she designed any of it!) jewelry is made from sterling silver, 18k gold with stones (agate, chalcedony, goldstone, jade, hematite).
The first collection is named “Shattered”, the second (already!) is named “Superstud” (being a punk-inspiration collection) and it will launch next month (reselling via Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman) with prices between $343 and $3,528.
How about it? Hardly waiting to wear a Xtina Jewelry? Or it’s just another celebrity-turned-designer over night?
