Models Before and After Part 3
March 2nd, 2008 by kpriss
I guess it’s my way to relate to the fashion weeks without getting too much into.
This is the third episode of the series Models Before and After with another set of seven gorgeous girls that walk the runway especially photographed without make-up and then arranged for photo shoot. So here we go again:

Bare Legs are No Longer In (this Summer)
March 2nd, 2008 by kpriss
Word is bare legs are no longer in. Then again, legs are absolutely in.
So, if we are to logically connect the two above, we’re supposed to show some serious legs this summer without showing any. (skin). Because s-s 2008 collections abounded in short skirts/dresses (yes, I know, besides prints), the general advice is to take care of your skin and tone up your muscles before showing them beauties (I have here few examples from Emporio Armani, Alexander McQueen, Philosophy by Alberta Feretti, Moschino).
Now comes the news – show those legs, girl, but don’t let anyone see the bare skin! You have to lace it, wrap it, cover it in shreds, nothing is too much, nothing is too frilly (hereby some examples from D & G, Benjamin Cho, Etro, Givenchy). I for one can’t wait to put on some gladiators! Even lately I saw gladiators worn with socks. Kinda shocked me at first, but when thinking more about it, I was intrigued by that look and would like to give it a try.
I won’t obsess over the gladiators/socks but I will ask you this – do you agree with this
show all but don’t let anything to be seen policy on spring-summer 2008 bare legs?

Marc Jacobs Splash Collection – Sorbet Fragrances
March 1st, 2008 by kpriss
I guess it’s his special way of delivering a message for a special friend…
Marc Jacobs enriches the Splash collection with three new fragrances – Basil, Grapefruit and Pear. Alongside Rain, Grass & Cotton, Ivy, Violet & Amber, Cucumber and Orange, the new Splash Sorbet launch happens while Victoria Beckham runs the ads at Marc Jacobs should make her think about food. A bit.
I know that looking at this picture it kinda makes me think of aspirin and ice cream. Contradictory, I know, but pregnant women tend to be like that.
So what about you?
Are you familiar with Marc Jacobs Splash collection? Expecting only the best from the new Sorbet additions?
Or really couldn’t care less if Posh gains or loses anything (talking about weight, of course)?

Madonna Dazed and Confused in April
March 1st, 2008 by kpriss
The show queen is back. And with a new flavor “Hard Candy”.
Madonna’s breaking out the silence with another album worked with everyone’s favorite Timbaland (who never comes by himself so he brought his bunch – Justin Timberlake and Pharrell). Soon enough, all music aired on the radio will sound exactly the same. JT is working with Timba, Nelly’s working with Timba, Madonna’s working with Timba.. Hey! Wonder if I could work with Timba?
Well this wasn’t about Timbaland at all, this was about Madonna and her gracing the April Number of Dazed and Confused with an exclusive interview and lots and lots of pages about Madonna’s fashion and art. As soon as photo updates will be available, I’ll keep you posted! In the mean time please enjoy Madonna’s words of wisdom:
“I have moments where I feel incredibly invincible and know that I have the audience in my hand… and then I have panic attacks, where I feel like everyone is breathing my air, and I might just die on stage.”
O! Hail! The Almighty Queen! Step back, don’t breathe her air or her singing can worsen up (even more!)!
After that disco wreck of a record she pulled out last time, are you curious to see what music style is she going to resurrect?

Solve Sundsbo Invitation à la danse
March 1st, 2008 by kpriss
When looking around for something interesting I was just mesmerized by these pictures and the only thought I had was to share with you.
It’s a photo shooting called “Invitation à la danse” (having Elena Sudakova as model and Solve Sundsbo behind the lens). Just beautiful! Technique aside (because I do believe it was tricky to pull these kind of movements in an easy way), I’d go for art. What do you say?
New Fendi Store Opens in Paris
February 29th, 2008 by kpriss
…or how many square foot one needs to feel luxury floating all over?
In a city where living space seems to be created in the fiercest of economies, where parking lots are most likely to have created the very definition of claustrophobia, a new luxury store opens for everyone’s delight.
Fendi moved his store into a 5,400 square foot space simply because the older one wasn’t fashionably decorated anymore and, as the Fendi Chief Executive Michael Burke said:
“We were not up to our full potential” and now with the new store “I think this is really cool”.
So it’s a two floored boutique – for one you have accessories and upstairs ready-to-wear collection (and furs). The main level features a splintered vortex of balls (looks like someone put a silver Christmas Decoration in the wrong season so he kinda messed with it so no one would see that we’re a long way from December), a Loris Cecchini large scale silver sculpture and every store must – the scarf wall.
It may seem naïve, but does luxury has a specific surface? I mean like – when you’ve got a 500 square foot store – that makes it a low brand issue. When luxury involved, we’re thinking big! We’re thinking above 3,000 square foot? Why not 5,000? Of course, if we’re talking museum space, it’s completely comprehensible. But when talking commercial space, isn’t it too much already? You tell me – do you feel restrained under 5,400 square foot of store space? Or anything goes as long as you’re talking shoes and bags and stuff? (who cares enough to look around, anyway?)

Shoes Obsession – Hussein Chalayan Falke Socks Boots
February 29th, 2008 by kpriss
Hussein Chalayan is a very busy man. Yesterday, his collaboration with Puma was announced, today we focus on his latest catwalk.
It’s seems we get around shoes for this one too – for his fall-winter 2008 he managed something amazing – socks-boots. I don’t know how you look at these, but me I’m rather impressed! I wouldn’t mind at all if they would become the new it shoes! Made with Falke, the german producer of hosiery, these boots are still going under “concept” name, but I still hope they’ll go further than that! What do you think?
Are these Chalayan Socks Boots pretty enough to take over the streets? Or do you find them rather strange?
