Liya Kebede Covers UK Harper’s Bazaar For May 2008

One of my favorite models, Liya Kebede is on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, the UK edition for May 2008.

Even if she’s not spectacular, the pink overall of the cover makes things peaceful and spring-related. However, the editorial itself isn’t that breathtaking, unless for her legendary good looking self. She’s a quiet one Liya, I come to appreciate discretion more and more in a world where more you party hard or get more arrested, people talk about your royal self and embrace your wild attitudes.

$37,500 Gucci Yellow Crocodile Hysteria Bag

Why not? Crocodiles are hard to catch, everybody knows that! Fetching one, removing all the skin, nasty job! Someone has to pay a fair price, right?

I like yellow. It brightens up my day! And the Gucci Spring-Summer 2008 was a beautiful collection for me. Sunflowers, black-white-yellow, it’s all joy! However, a crocodile handbag, be it yellow, brings no honor to my wardrobe.

Gucci Hysteria Yellow Crocodile Bag

As I remember, Gucci was the first brand in the world (sales concerned) and the popularity it brings to every article produced under their name crashes any other moral involved. For instance, I haven’t heard anything else about the Gucci loves NY campaign after it was signaled that the NY logo was used without permission. Like all vanished and hailed the almighty $ and the amazing profits of the marketed promotion (since everything was sold in the blink of an eye). I wonder if I wasn’t where I am today and my background wasn’t such, if I would have actually had a money tree in front of my window and every morning when I open up to smell the fresh air I would have picked up mmm, let’s say $3,000 “just because”, would my perspective over the world be different? More “mellow yellow”?
Oh, informatively – there are blogs where Gucci worths every cent of the yellow Hysteria! And I’m sure they’re not the only ones! I guess kiss-blogging has its rewards too..

Fergie Covers Glamour, Photoshop Courtesy

It’s a common technique, however that doesn’t mean we can all get used to it and close our eyes every time it happens.

This Glamour edition was the last example I laid my eyes on. A very bright looking Fergie. Like she would be a couple of years younger (I know, she’s just 33 years old but still looks like she’d have more, maybe due to her addiction years). You’d normally say “good for her! She’s in wonderful shape!”, then again when you’d see the next candids with the same Fergie, you’d notice something wrong. Her face is nor that thin or flawless.

Marc Jacobs Reveals Another Victoria Beckham Ad Print

I looked and looked at these two new releases from the oh-so-fabulous advertising campaign for Marc Jacobs and still don’t feel my logic sense kicking in.

I’ll take up the story teller road maybe somewhere along the way, bells start ringing. In the first picture we’re honored with a house-wife-ish Posh all foetus-like-lied-down sucking up her thumb while wearing ménage-gloves (or at least what bears a striking resemblance to the gloves I wear when majoring scrubbing the house), dressed up with that dressing gown most fashionable described as “robe de chambre”. She accessorized her most glamorous outfit in this uber glamorous pose with the signature shades. Brilliantly useful!

Messi Jilly Jewelry Collection – Underwater Love

I guess that a someone who likes jewelry, likes it in every way possible or at least appreciates a strikingly original creation.

Looking at these rings I can’t think of anything else more than seashells and running around the shore, collecting them and playing like a child with nature’s wonders. Actually transforming them into wearable jewelry, especially into rings, couldn’t have crossed my mind.

Pearls Comeback for 2008

So are those pearls back on track? I know Sarah Jessica Parker’s moves are awaited and followed. When I saw her difficult-to-qualify-all-black-outfit and long strands of pearls I wondered if this was sending a message other than “I received these shoes for free, I couldn’t offend the sponsor and I matched them with the pearls so I won’t go style suicidal”.

Later on, internet was invaded by young Ashlee Simpson wearing the famous Chanel strands matching them to a casual skinny jean-t-shirt-high-heeled-sandals outfit. Hard to believe, but Ashlee pulled it off far better than SJP. Then again, we couldn’t overlook a classic dressed Katherine Heigl with her pearls perfectly retro or Nicky Hilton sporting them for some time now. It was never an actual question of pearls actually getting off-fashion, but it’s always good to know if they’ll come in full package with the 60s trend or if they make that extra too-much of fashion revival.

The Pregnant Man And Fashion Talk

I guess everyone’s heard about Thomas, the 6 months pregnant man by now. At first I was shocked, because the news aren’t quite fair on the subject, announcing the world that a MAN is actually PREGNANT.

In my head it was a natural contradiction that could only be explained by a bit of respect in the media for the actual person they were presenting and for the world receiving the news. It’s about a transgender who is pregnant. Thomas was Tracy before all this adventure…

Thomas, the Pregnant ManAnyway, fighting over prejudice and education, Thomas and his wife wanted to go Oprah-public. The organizations meant to protect and support them from the start weren’t behind them, actually suggesting to back off and keep everything away from the public eye. They didn’t. I know this is supposedly a fashion/style talking environment, but I’d be deliberately closing my eyes to this news if I wouldn’t touch the subject. It’s, after all, a question of life. Times are changing and sooner or later, that reflects into fashion too. Read more…
