Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2011 Collection

I’ll start with the end. Because that’s what shocked me the most! If you’ll just fast forward to the 11th minute and 46seconds of the video you’ll find after the jump, you’ll have the honor of seeing Mr Marc Jacobs in a peculiar shape for his designer reverence. That was the cherry on top of a collection pie that felt pretty awkward already. Now let’s get to l’ordre du jour: the actual Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2011 Collection!

Impressed? No. Surprised? Yes. But not because the collection came across as original or inventive. But because Marc Jacobs is convinced that he can sell us just about anything. And the irony is that he actually can sell us anything! And more: I was right – Qipao seems to be the new black (that and any/animal print)! (let’s talk some more with a selection of pictures from the collection and the video right after the jump!)

Care For A Purple Umbrella?

Yesterday’s Hump Day edition was delayed. I do not plan on giving up on it just yet. Because I reserved you this high dose of adorability I can’t keep for myself! More I look at this image, more I feel my heart bursting out of my chest with love and admiration for such a fashionable little soul!

Though we watched the shows together and the trends reports for Spring Summer 2011 say that next summer will be orange or not at all, this cute purple umbrella is my current favorite accessory! Wouldn’t you want one? (Flickr via)

The New App Fashion, Jason Schwartzman Edition

No particular reason for this one! What? Haven’t seen me feature men around here too often? (there’s a simple reason for that: my eyes, heart and mind only operate in one direction – my Adored Husband. There’s simply nothing else besides him) Still, you have to admit Jason Schwartzman has that geeky attitude and that Gentleman style Matthew McConaughey will never, ever, in a gazillion aviator years reach!

What’s it really about? The New Yorker’s new iPad app. I may not be in Jason Schwartzman or any other man out there, but I’m definitely into iPads. So there goes the motivation for this subject today. That plus – it’s a really entertaining video, galactic years away from any fashvideo I’ve seen lately! (and directed by Roman Coppola – yes, that’s Francis Ford Coppola’s son)

What Use For $219 Leather Socks?

I grew accustomed to Karl Lagerfeld’s glovey ways more than I wanted to. The man just won’t let go – before he lets us get a glimpse at his wrinkled hands, he’ll change his name and cut away his ponytail! Whatever the order!

Now I’m looking at these leather socks and can’t help but wonder what they’re here to do! Rachel Comey Leather socks with hidden zipper – only $219! Sure, but what’s the use? Fancy gloves for your feet? Objects of adoration? There’s definitely something slipping through my logic’s fingers with these ones! Help me out, will you? (Creatures of Comfort via)

Modelgeddon’s Versace Love

Not a day without your fashvideo fix! With every passing short film made in the name of fashion and about fashion, I immerse myself into a sea of fashlogic and fashexpression which both stand a long way from the classic, common sense logic and expression.

Fashion has clearly its own (branded) mind and spirit. The new collaboration between Love magazine’s Katie Grand, Versace and James Lima stands proof to that rising eyebrows – no – explanation – moment you fully experience while looking at a fashvideo. Watch Alessandra Ambrosio, Ana Beatriz, Claudia Mason and Julie Ordon wearing Versace and kicking a droite et a gauche worse than a five year old while buildings Inception-ish collide around them! Now don’t you just want your minute and half back? Viral ineptness. (via)

Keira Knightley’s New Short Bob Haircut

From Emma Watson’s very short new haircut to Anne Hathaway’s (fake, true, but we still had few days of short certitude) boy haircut, there’s a wave of scissors liberty in our beloved celebs locks. Not that we mind, au contraire! It’s just that our usual trend setter, Victoria Beckham decided to let her hair grow (either that, or she opted for a glamorous set of extensions, comme d’habitude) and I feel a bit undecided whether to think that the new it is long or short. So now, with Keira Knightley showing off her new bob haircut, we’re right inbetween: it’s not short, short, it surely ain’t long either!

That’s because I care to share with you only the latest trends out there – I won’t touch my long wavy locks no matter what trends sweep the fashion shores. I’m an old fashioned girl, plus – do you have any idea how many years it takes for frizzy hair to grow? Not that it wouldn’t, it’s just that the longer it grows, the more it curls and twists and stubbornly keeps the same (visual) length for months and months. Years, even! Now getting back to Keira – which hair cut compliments her better? (photos via)

Alexander McQueen Spring Summer 2011 Collection

So how did you like Alexander McQueen Spring Summer 2011? I’ll be honest with you and say I was afraid she would bring it all to pieces, just like they did with Valentino after he stepped down.

Sure, with Sarah Burton it was supposed to be different since she was his right hand for so many years. And it was pretty different indeed. The collection had the McQueen edginess only a bit softer, more feminine. And that’s not such a bad thing, is it? The way the fabric was twisted and bent look McQueen-ish enough for me, an outsider, and the regal, bourgeois feeling I got from this spring summer 2011 collection was blue enough to make it credible; also the Earth Goddess warmth and attitude charmed my heard and impressed my aesthetic eye.

In my perspective, the show was successful, Sarah was successful in keeping the Alexander McQueen spirit alive. What say you? Click through to see more images and a catwalk video! (images from the entire collection here)

Adriana Lima’s Victoria’s Secret Bombshell Fantasy Bra 2011

The time to dream about Victoria’s Secret 2011 fashion show is finally here! With all of those Victorian beauties pregnant or ending their Victorian collaboration (Heidi recently announced that she will no longer represent with the Angels and that her Victoria’s Secret time has come to an end), Adriana Lima’s comeback after motherhood was logical.

So she’s the one wearing the Bombshell Fantasy Bra this year. 2,000 diamonds, $3 million, not bad for such a tiny piece of fabric! Either way, I think it looks prettier than last year’s fantasy bra (worn by Marissa Miller). What say you? (and more – does anyone actually end up buying this bra?) (via)
