Converse By Givenchy
May 10th, 2011 by kpriss
Though it’s only available in Japan, the new limited edition of Converse by Givenchy sneakers is one piece of (fashion)work. First because it’s about Converse, and we all lov’em. Then because it has Riccardo Tisci‘s iconic design trademarks and we couldn’t be happier that he chose to grace us with such a sneakers collaboration!
The Converse Addict Givenchy sneakers happened before, in 2008, only this time they feature the special leopard print (black on black, which makes them even more appealing and stylish) which was the big thing in Givenchy’s Spring Summer 2011 Men’s collection. Do you think anyone would tell the difference (from a reasonable distance) between a pair of black leather Converse and a pair of Givenchy Converse sneakers? (via)
Lagerfeld Girls Support His New 2012 Chanel Cruise Collection
May 10th, 2011 by kpriss
Talking about Karl Lagerfeld today is the rigueur as he just presented his latest collection for Chanel, the Spring 2012 Resort Collection. All the Kaiser’s girls were there to cheer on him and applaud his sense of style.
Vanessa Paradis, Anna Mouglalis, Blake Lively and Rachel Bilson, Clemence Poesy, Alexa Chung and Poppy Delevigne, Caroline Sieber and Carine Roitfeld. Der Kaiser was very proficient, stepping Resort – forward with a long collection (which we will detail later). Does the Front Row counts as a second catwalk? (photos via)
Karl Lagerfeld Publishing Nietzsche, Designs S.T. Dupont Pen
May 10th, 2011 by kpriss
Oh, Karl Lagerfeld and another book related news! I’m getting used to this, more than I’m getting used to seeing his other fashrelated works (actually, his latest ads with Magnum were a major disappointment). The word got out that he will be publishing the complete writings of Nietzsche, the 19th century German philosopher.
However, the complete works, handwritten in original will only be published in German (for now, at least) as Karl admitted it would take five to seven years to translate. However, in the mean time, you can check out T. S. Dupont for a Lagerfeld pen. Though yet undisclosed, the design of Lagerfeld’s new pen will most definitely highlight his black & white obsessions.
Which one of der Kaiser’s latest achievements would you rather have? The Nietzsche book or the Dupont pen? Below, with no (apparent) liaison with the above mentioned news is a photo of a young and smiling wide Karl Lagerfeld. Something we don’t get to see very often and so there you go, enjoy it, he looks so merrily (those were the days when he used to drink non diet Coke –wink) (via; photo via)
January Jones’ Baby Bump
May 9th, 2011 by kpriss
Rumors of January dropping out of Mad Men circulated all around the interwebs. Then those rumors were replaced by certified news saying that January Jones was pregnant with her first child.
While nobody knows who is the father, let’s enjoy one of the first pictures of January Jones’ baby bump. Lovely and radiant, January was enjoying a basketball game with a friend (Dexter’s Jennifer Carpenter) when she was photographed with her burgeoning baby bump! Congrats and may she enjoy a fuss-less, trouble-less pregnancy (and delivery)! Isn’t she cute? (photos via)

Uma Thurman’s Confusing Style
May 9th, 2011 by kpriss
Talking about badvertising, I couldn’t help but notice Uma Thurman’s latest foray into the ad land. It’s pretty confusing, but I’m guessing it falls right in the line with the new French advertising.
Which line, you might ask? Well, the one that’s pushing intimacy right in the spotlight. The Ad light. I remember not long ago the interwebs were buzzing about the latest McDonalds ad in France (you can watch it here). Then about the latest Orangina ad in France (which you can also watch here). Now Uma? Uma loves Schweppes and wants to have it anywhere, anytime, at all times, with anyone and everyone. If she continues, they might have to make a Kill Bill remake where Uma would chase all those who refused to have a Schweppes with her. Hell ensues (are we even sure this isn’t one of Lagerfeld’s ads too? It’s just as “good”)!

Karl Lagerfeld, Rachel Bilson, Magnum Ice Cream And Baptiste Giabiconi
May 9th, 2011 by kpriss
Karl Lagerfeld and Ice Cream. We’ve seen what happens when Karl meets something chocolate – sweet: something really, really bad. A chocolate true size Baptiste Giabiconi. That… can’t be good. Can it?
Karl Lagerfeld’s work with Magnum Ice Cream has been materialized in three video commercials (well, technically four, if we’re to count the Magnum United States ad). His work with Rachel Bilson (and biensur, Baptiste) would have, could have been so good. Instead we only got this (below and after the jump you’ll find three of the four videos, the fourth haven’t been released yet, but we get the general idea, no need to hold our breath any longer).
I’m unable to tell if it’s Lagerfeld, Baptiste, Rachel Bilson or Magnum – which one should be held responsible for having created such lame advertising. I understand der Kaiser it’s only at his debut in cinematography / video advertorial work. Shouldn’t he be advised to stop already?

Pixar Disney Soundtrack Break
May 9th, 2011 by kpriss
Since this Mother’s Day issue, I wanted to share something I hold really close to my heart. Music – wise. Every week I’m trying to make our beloved Friday break as lovable as possible, as special as possible.
This week it’s about Pixar via Disney. I’ve made no secret that Pixar’s movies are pretty much as masterpiece as it gets, in cinematography, for me. Yes, cinematography, I’m willingly expanding the animation category in which, normally, Pixar / Disney movies fall into. Movies like Ratatouille and Up can permanently alter my perspective on the way movies are made and on what a movie script should or should not be.
Please join me on a magic journey through Pixar’s and Disney’s soundtracks! Below you’ll find Camille Dalmais’s Le Festin from Ratatouille’s soundtrack as well as the Married Life from Up (by Michael Giacchino) right after the jump! Enjoy my special Mother’s Day playlist, a gift from me to moi, hopefully for you too!
Impressive Gift: Your Portrait On A Building
May 8th, 2011 by kpriss
I trust you had a marvelous, dreamy Mother’s Day? It’s been pretty crazy around the house these days as we had guests coming over (well, mostly family, but even so, our daily routine was clearly not what it used to) and we barely had the time to wish your, my lovelies, a blissfully happy Mothers Day!
So here I am, in the after hours fashion (being late is so fashionable, after all! Marc Jacobs preached that by being late show after show after show and still delivering a breathtaking success) with a dreamy portrait on a building. Count the tree as a bouquet and the street light as a candle and there you have it, a truly unique gift. How would you feel is someone painted your portrait on a building (I know it’s graffiti, but it still counts as a painting in my head)? (if anyone has any ideas about where this beautiful photo was taken, who took it and who may be the artist who delivered such a stunning piece of urban art, please step forward!) (photo via)
