Nail Polish For Men

Speaking of men – you’re aware of the cosmetics or beauty products created especially for men – the last one joining the beauty case is the nail polish for men!

EvolutionMan Nail Varnish and Nail Paint were “Formulated with men in mind” and, you guessed it right, addresses to the stylish, uber fashionable or simply rebel men population out there who loves a good manicure (and / or pedicure) every now and then (or, why not, on a regular daily basis).

While naturally asking myself if this nail polish created especially for men is any different from the usual nail polish for women, I couldn’t find a satisfying answer that would point out the notable differences. Sure, the names sound a bit different than the girly, funny names we’re used to reading on the bottom of our nail lacquer bottles, but that’s it? (EvolutionMan is declined in shades like Pure Matte, Pure Bling, Pavement, Stand Out gunmetal or purple Alter Ego) Well, at least we know Gwen Stefani would be a sure client! Don’t we?

Are You Familiar With The Ballerina Project?

I almost forgot about this wonderful project of unspeakable beauty! This is the best part that comes with celebrating a beautiful heart – beautiful things come to mind!

The Ballerina Project was initiated by (what else?) a photographer. Dane Shitagi, original from Honolulu, started all this madly charming series ten years ago and carrying it from her native Honolulu to skyscraping New York. There’s not much to say about it and I prefer to let the images speak for themselves – they do a much better job than I with my noisy, overenthusiastic speech! (there’s a short clip after the jump if you’re in the mood! – so tell me, were you familiar with the Ballerina Project?)

Louis Vuitton Island Maison Singapore

Talking about Louis Vuitton earlier reminded me of this amazing aerial view of their amazing LV Island Maison Singapore. (yes, again, the repetitive use of “amazing” is a must in this case where the ostentatious maison is playing both the modesty and the overwhelming luxury cards right under our highly fashionable noses!)

The store, located on a private island in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, was designed by Peter Marino, a world renowned architect (also responsible for Ermenegildo Zegna flagship store in Milan, the Chanel Tower in Ginza, Tokyo and other high fashion houses boutiques scattered around the world). Louis Vuitton has just added this impressive Maison to its commercial portfolio, its 12th Maison in the world (the first in Southeast Asia). It’s so mind numbing from where I stand that I think if I’d ever see it, I’d be more concentrated on the architectural prouesse than on the women, men clothes, the jewelry and the bookstore contained within! Wouldn’t you?

Famous Stylish Men Love Thick Nerdy Black Rimmed Eyeglasses! You Should Too!

Okay, not just men, but I’ll just keep it manly for these festivities… Because Men of Style was suggested by our Birthday Girl (wink). We have eyeglasses wearers here in the Stylefrizz household! Two of the wee ones wear eyeglasses! Naturally, ever since we have the kids wearing specs, we were also exposed to the trends in the field. Year after year we see pretty much the same spectacle in the specialty stores: thin metal frames for prescription glasses.

We’re pretty much counter culture so we wanted something else for the kids – something less thin and less metallic. We wanted plastic frames! And we could barely find any! Because you see, my daaaahlings, plastic frames are nerdy. Geeky. Un-fashionable! I say stop that! Le Geek C’est Chic and you know it! Bring back thick black nerdy glasses!

And hereby some of the world’s most famous men (by entertaining standards, biensur) who have chosen the Geek Chic look! Horn rimmed glasses, black rimmed glasses, plastic frames, baby! That’s the new eyeglasses must!

Thandie Newton For Louis Vuitton Double Exposure

One of my all-time favorite actress, Thandie Newton, whose innate grace and beauty shine through her every movie and her every Red Carpet appearance is the face (and the body) for Louis Vuitton’s Double Exposure campaign.

The advertorial initiative proposed itself to “counterbalance to today’s disposable media culture” by using images shot by Tom Craig in a 19th century technique (the subject must pose for 12 seconds). The end result is pretty interesting and unique today, especially in ad campaigns looking to promote their latest products!

However, the most important part of the campaign lies in the styling – the subject is immortalized wearing Louis Vuitton, biensur, and surrounded by her most personal treasured possessions. Hit the jump to see what Thandie wanted near her when she was photographed!

Sasha Pivovarova, Joan Smalls For Macy’s Giambattista Valli for Impulse Collection

Two of my favorite models together in the same ad campaign? That has to say something! (that I’m not the only one seeing how special they are, for instance?). Either way, the unearthly gorgeous Joan Smalls and the quirky Sasha Pivovarova joined hands and showed their party moods in an ad campaign for Giambattista Valli for Impulse at Macy’s.

A pretty special collection, in the haute fast fashion couture spirit, with prices ranging from $50 to $150, just in time for the Holidays! I think it falls right into the spirit of this truly festive weekend, don’t you?

Audrey Hepburn Singing In My Fair Lady. Audrey Hepburn By Givenchy And More

My darlings, I don’t know how it happened and a most important date slip my mind. A very dear friend of ours just celebrated her anniversary two days ago and, in all shame, add my modest Happy Birthday, Ellington!

And because we all know one of her favorite sheroes, as she says (if not her most adored sheroe), is Audrey Hepburn, I wanted to make a special break this week, in her honor, with two songs interpreted by one of the most amazing actresses (and human beings) ever to have existed! Audrey Hepburn performing for My Fair LadyShow Me” and, after the jump, “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly” and “Just You Wait“. Happy Birthday, Ellington!
