Kitsch Avantgarde: Mercedes Benz Necklaces

It’s amazing to see how a hipster can turn kitsch into gold. Literally! Wearing a Mercedes – Benz emblem around your neck is not only so eighties but so… bad taste too! However, if you’d be Mike D from the Beastie Boys, wearing a Mercedes – Benz sign hanging around your neck from a chest long golden necklace, the gesture wouldn’t be considered kitsch but avant-garde!

I’m puzzled! I was really fascinated with the Beastie Boys music when I was younger. There was this street – wisdom charm to their songs I couldn’t always relate to. But this? I couldn’t relate to even if I wanted to – Mercedes – Benz is behind some pretty awesome cars, I give you that, but wearing their emblem around my neck is taking appreciation one step too far. Towards lame. But what do I know? (more after the jump)

Heidi Klum Shows Her Allure Without Clothes, May 2012

Following a highly mediatized separation from her singer husband, Seal, Heidi Klum is embracing the spotlight with open arms. And no more clothes. In Allure’s May 2012 issue, the annual clothesless Allure issue, Heidi Klum shows off her enviable toned physique at 38 years of age and four (natural) kids.

I’ve said it before, I’m saying it again – Heidi is a true role model for mothers out there. She showed us that determination, discipline and passion can really push you forward and keep you going in life. She’s not saying that a reconciliation between Seal and her would be impossible, so there’s maybe hope for these two (and especially for the kids). Either way, Heidi rocks the Allure fashion before Norman Jean Roy’s lenses (and there’s a video after the jump to prove that!)

Mother – Daughter Matching Outfits From Calypso

Here’s a lovely initiative from Calypso: their latest ad campaign involves mothers & daughters wearing matching tunics. It’s not so much about the tunics but about this generations – marketing I’m fond of. “Generations of Style“, mothers & daughters of various ages wearing matching outfits. Because we’ve all played dress – up when we were little and our mother’s closet had no more secrets we didn’t personally tried on.

Calypso Mommy and Me Campaign Michelle Paige (former first lady of New York) and her 23yo daughter are part of Calypso‘s initiative (as reported by wwd), as well as Annie Georgia Greenberg (Refinery29 editor) and her mother, Ella, among many others. Isn’t it sweet?

Charlotte Gainsbourg Fights Nicolas Ghesquiere For Jean Paul Goude

More goodies from printed fashion magazines: if the other day we found out priceless details about Caroline Trentini’s wedding in Vogue, now it’s time we admire Charlotte Gainsbourg and Nicolas Ghesquiere’s fighting skills in Harper’s Bazaar May 2012.

Playing the good & the bad in an hypothetical fashion Star Wars as photographed by the mythical Jean – Paul Goude and styled by Alex Aikiu, Balenciaga’s Nicolas Ghesquiere and his muse put on a pretty fighting show in the pages of Harper’s Bazaar. It’s actually not hard to imagine the designer as Darth Vader – after the benches collapsed at one of his shows, he asked the eminent fashion audience to assist his runway defile while standing up. Anna Wintour was among those who stood up for Balenciaga. But the Force is strong with Ghesquiere, he’s back, stronger than ever!

ABBA Eagle

ABBA. One of the greatest bands to have ever existed. Although the band broke up before I got to enjoy one of their concerts, they’re in my personal top five bands I wish I could’ve seen perform live (Queen is on top of that list).

But this is not why I’m bringing them here today. As I mentioned earlier, it’s a really special day, and this is a really special music video for our dear friend, Adriana. (did I mention it’s her birthday today? Happy Birthday! once more!) And this is one of her favorite songs (from what I heard, her favorite Abba song, actually). So Have a Wonderful Earth Day!

The Smallest Things…

Today, my dahlings, is one of those very special days. And I’m not just saying that because it’s Sunday! Not even because it’s Earth Day! (although that doubles the fondness I have for this day, every year). Today is someone’s special Birthday. Our dear friend, Adriana, is celebrating her Birthday today: Happy Birthday, dear Adriana! We love you dearly!

This little image below is my way of marking the date on StyleFrizz’s Calendar. Sometimes, The Smallest Things Take Up The Most Room In Your Heart! Ain’t that true? (the image was assembled with outmost care and dedication by yours truly. If you happen to know where some of the images come from, please step forward so I can credit them properly! Hoping you’ll enjoy this image)

Have You Seen Laetitia Casta’s Inside Pictorial From Vogue Paris May 2012

They’re pretty interesting, to say the least! It’s like a multiple personality fashion moment where Laetitia plays provocatively under Emmanuelle Alt’s style supervision.

White and black for the most part, Laetitia the Adored is undoubtedly amazing at what she does, Mario Testino’s photos capturing in depth the cheeky show (literally) put on Vogue’s display by the French beauty. But the simple truth is that this Vogue Paris May 2012 cover story pictorial is not far from the usual Vogue US star profiling. With the only notable exception that Laetitia Casta was (and is) a model previous to being an actress.(click through for more images, click here for the gallery!)

Fashionable Gadgets: Apple MacBook Perfume

That’s way better than Lagerfeld’s Books Scent. For me, at least. I love being surrounded by gadgets. All kind of gadgets. But mostly, computer – related gadgets. I’m fascinated by them. Some are bag – girls, I’m a gadget – girl.

Apple Macbook scent Naturally, my curiosity was all over this MacBook Pro perfume thing when I first read the news. Basically is like living that feeling of opening an Apple box and smelling the “new” scent within.

Air Aroma wanted to capture and release that for an art installation in Australia. However, Alexander Cosic, the Sales Manager from Air Aroma, who described the new product as: “a mixture of ink, paper, foam, sticky tape, and the Macbook with a hint of glue smell” is now looking for distributors, according to the Fashionista. Would you be interested in buying if ever?
