Jimmy Choo Flash-es Natasha Poly In Perfume Ad

Jimmy Choo’s second perfume, Flash is already campaigning with a little help from Natasha Poly. Photographed by Steven Meisel and styled by Charlotte Pilcher, Natasha’s pose, although meant to be glamorous, is pretty much on the strange side.

I could also add the very name of the perfume to my list of ‘strange’ motifs, but I think that dissecting the ad itself is pretty much enough. Given that it’s Christmas and all.. (wink) So: what does ‘Flash’ mean in this case? Because from where I stand, Natasha looks pretty much like she’s presenting her underwear to the camera. Is that the Flash? (sad face) but then again, Jimmy Choo is so much about shoes, they couldn’t overlook their main identity even in a perfume campaign. (image Steven Meisel)

Gwen Stefani’s Boots Dr Martens Cherry Boots

Though she just graced the cover of Vogue US January 2013, Gwen Stefani seems to be spending the Holidays in the UK. Recently spotted in Primrose Hill, walking around with her husband, her kids and her step daughter, Gwen Stefani was sporting her usual edgy look.

I loved her hat – my inner hat gal was envious of her hat coolness. I was in complete and total awe about her layering capacities – that long cardi underneath an army coat? Sheer fashion brilliance! But wait – what’s there finishing up her army – edgy mom outfit?

A nice, comfy pair of Dr Martens boots! Cherry, all pretty laced up (curiously, I always thought Dr Martens boots were for the young population. teens and tweens. clearly I was wrong). But really? Gwen Stefani? Vogue cover girl wearing a pair of $120 boots we too can wear? Wow, now I see why the world didn’t end on the 21st! (image Wenn via; DrMartens)

Kate Moss, Joan, Daria Versace Spring 2013 Ad Campaign

Have you seen the visual gorgeousness that is the Versace Spring Summer 2013 ad campaign as photographed by Mert and Marcus? There’s only so much fashion flawlessness one can handle in a single ad campaign! Kate Moss, Daria Werbowy and Joan Smalls (not a day without Joan)!

How interesting is that: Kate Moss, the absolute reigning queen of fashion models, Daria Werbowy, one of the best models ever (who, if you notice – keeps her trademark long hair for this campaign) and the most praised model of the moment, Joan Smalls. Together. If that isn’t the new Holy Trinity of Modeling, than I don’t know what is! (the story continues right after the jump, click here for the gallery!)

Kim Kardashian’s Temptation, Also Promoting Her Lingerie In Factice

So look who’s an actress now! Kim Kardashian, honeyz! She’s starring in ‘Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor’! I had no idea whatsoever, so if you were blindsided just like me, note that Kimmy is acting her way into Hollywood next to the likes of Vanessa Williams and Brandy.

And yes, I’ve watched the trailer! Boo! And you can watch it too, after the jump! I know it’s a movie I won’t necessarily see it in the theaters, so why not? I was too curious about Kimmy K and her movie role. But I needn’t worry – she was born with the faking gene. She pulls it off wonderfully! Now let’s see how she’s promoting her lingerie line! (more images right after the jump, click here for the gallery!)

Hollywood Demands A Plan Against Violence

‘It’s time. It’s not too soon, it’s too late!’ That what we’re all thinking, so why not do something about it? How long till we realize that before the economy, before taxes, before anything, it’s about human beings? It’s about a better world? It’s about love?

We owe it to ourselves to try to do something! Nobody has any guarantees, there’s no way of telling if it’ll work or not, but at least we tried! We did something to contain this madness! Media has such an enormous influence right now! I’m happy they put it to good work every now and then!

This ‘Demand a Plan’ PSA against Gun Violence is emotional but doesn’t break one’s spirit. It pushes us forward, to action. To carrying. To loving. It’s about life. It’s about our children. Our dear ones. Ourselves.

Carey Mulligan’s Gatsby Daisy Buchanan Wears Prada & Tiffany

It’s hard to believe that in times like these, when all is but glitter dust in the economic crisis wind, a movie like The Great Gatsby can be successful. And still – I believe it will make a great cinematic splash. Baz Luhrmann’s movies always do.

And the cast he worked with for this new adaptation of the Great Gatsby – Leonardo di Caprio (with whom the director has worked before in Romeo and Juliet) or Carey Mulligan (a longtime Prada fan whose wedding dress was also Prada) have found a perfect fashion match in Miuccia Prada. She designed (more like tweaked her own pre existing designs) Carey Mulligan’s 40 dresses from the movie. Also, Tiffany & Co provided the right amount of jewelry Carey’s character – Daisy Buchanan needed to to be: ‘…the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.

Call me crazy, but I’m convinced that wearing dress can make even Cruella de Vil look like a beautiful little fool! (poster Concept Art via)

Joan Smalls Black Ethnic Vogue Brasil January 2013

As I’ve said it so many times before, Joan Smalls is clearly one of the best models out there and also a personal favorite of mine. I enjoy seeing her in fashion magazines, I love seeing her on the catwalk. But I keep getting the feeling that as much as they’re liking her as well, the good fashion people will always have her entrapped into some silly cliché.

Take this Vogue Brazil January 2013, for instance: it’s summer in Brazil now. And this should be a summery cover. Instead, it’s a pretty disturbingly contrasting cover, with heavy studio lights on lovely Joan who’s photographed against an idyllic backdrop of sun & sand & sea (Ocean). Miu Miu Amazing Spring Summer 2013 Ad Campaign

So my dahlings! Today it’s Mayan’s version of world’s last day. Or so they say. That the Mayan calendar ended this day. So I feel a moral obligation to talk about something really significant – fashion wise – in what could’ve been the last day for mankind and the world as we know it.

The Miu Miu Spring 2013 ad campaign feels like the right topic now. It’s secretive, it’s aesthetically outstanding and forever playing with clichés. Masterfully shot by Inez and Vinoodh, packed with first class models and appealingly styled interiors crumbs, it was cleverly released the day before the Mayan World ended.
