It took a single evening and a single Angelina Jolie to make the tuxedo a must-wear for every lady who wants to make the best impression while attending an official event. Just like she did when sticking her leg out the leg slit, Angelina set a tuxedo trend we can’t help but notice and note everywhere.
Although I’m a girly girl at heart and I have my eyes set out for the pink and the ruffled dresses, I welcome this power-statement formal wear trend! Let’s see some of the beautiful and famous ones so we can take proper inspiration! The BAFTA Red Carpet, where Angie and Ruth Wilson were my favorite ladies:
Kim Kardashian wearing a black tuxedo
For The Late Night show with Jimmy Fallon, Kim Kardashian chose a pantsuit outfit, something we’re less used to seeing her wear since she (used to put it all on) flaunted her curves with every chance she got. Honestly, I like her better this way!

Barbara Palvin black tux For Elle Style Awards
Model Barbara Palvin wore an all-black look (save for the cobalt blue clutch) and she balanced her strict suited outfit by letting her hair loose and opting for minimal makeup. A formal yet relaxed look.
Helen Lasichanh Red Carpet pantsuits
Perfectly matching and looking all sorts of happy and glamorous, Helen Lasichanh and husband Pharrell Williams were picture perfect in pantsuits for the Elle Style Awards and BRIT Awards as well.
Cara Delevingne, Daisy Lowe, Kelly Osbourne pantsuits at formal events
Without trying to imply that British simply wear it better, I’d like to take a moment and admire the relaxed&fabulous looking young ladies attending various events in tuxedos! Daisy Lowe chose to manifest her provocative self with a sheer blouse at the Elle Style Awards, Cara bet it all on her playfulness with a cobalt blue tuxedo when launching her bags line with Mulberry while Kelly Osbourne went for an androgynous look at the launch of yet another season of RuPaul’s Drag Race!
Nicole Scherzinger edgy tuxedo look
Attending the BRIT Awards, Nicole Scherzinger looked edgy and daring by pairing a tuxedo with a leather top with huge golden studs matching her jewelry and pointed pumps. Not a bad look if want to get noticed.
Tallulah Harlech black tux tasseled look
Talking about getting people to notice you: Lady Amanda Harlech’s daughter, Tallulah seems to think of herself as fashion-forward but the finish look is unfitting, unflattering and unstylish all around.

Samantha Barks and Emma Willis elegant pantsuits looks
Normally, I’d say that you can’t go wrong with a pantsuit. However, Samantha Barks looked ready for an office reunion more than she looked glamorous for Elle Style Awards. Emma Willis opted for a red tux jacket and although it could’ve been a strong style statement, it made her look like she was out for a work-related lunch.
Shop your own Tux look!
If you’re looking for shopping inspiration, I rounded up the affordable and the not-so-affordable options below, take your pick, but always remember that the cut is capital when thinking of elegant pantsuits. Always try them on, make sure they look good from every angle and always buy two of each item fitting your perfectly! (images getty)

Oh, come on, the tux, the pant suit has been around for decades! Angelina does not set a trend. Nonsense. I and many, many other women and girls wore the tux and pantsuits way before Angelina was a star. I own a few pant suits.
To me a pantsuit was the right dress code for a regular day at the office.
Ah, Ruth and Angelina were my favourites as well. What a coincidence, love it! ;) <3
LOLz! After my reply I watched the arriving and homage of our great Olympic athletes. The female mayor of Assen (Netherlands) wore a black pantsuit doing her speech. I know it’s not a red carpet but I’m sure that pantsuit is just a basic in her wardrobe as the LBD or the T-shirt. Great for a regular day at the office a pantsuit with a comfy T-shirt. ;) <3
I know, it must be my recent obsession with well tailored suits, but still, it’s like I’m seeing tuxedos everywhere! :)
You see them everywhere because they are everywhere. ;)
Gosh, all the Spring shop windows was filled with suits already. In all colours. Also all over the internet….. and that was before the BAFTA’s!
I haven’t watched many none fashion shows this season because of the Olympic Winter Games. But I did view a lot of the fashion weeks visitors street looks. Fascinating in so many ways.
Further about tuxedos and pantsuits: it happens all the time one needs another size of the jacket than the pants. Ja, ja…. keep that in mind. ;)
