How do you feel about Lady Gaga? How do you feel about Lady Gaga wearing Alexander McQueen? I’m struggling hard not to see a bad side to this fame story!
So we had the MTV 2010 VMAs this very Sunday. You can just as well name it the Gaga edition since she swept this edition with 13 nominations from which she actually received 8 trophies (notably video of the year for Bad Romance, best collaboration for Telephone). That’s just a brief introduction to her stage outfits, actually. Because Lady Gaga chose to wear Alexander McQueen to start the night with. It’s a dress she had already worn before in her Vanity Fair pictorial. The Mohawk head piece was signed by Philip Treacy. (the story continues right after the jump with more images, click here for the gallery!)
That wasn’t the most outrageous thing she had worn for the night. The Alexander McQueen dress (paired with the impossible Armadillo shoes) was the most decent and the most fashionable by far. Remember that Vogue Hommes cover she did? The one not-so-easy to digest? Yep, the meat dress thing? She had a very similar piece tonight, on the MTV VMAs stage with a matching head meat piece and a meat clutch. For some reason, though, even if I highly appreciate any public highlight of anything McQueen, Gaga’s attempts at being different smell like fame desperation, thus not honoring McQueen’s memory in my opinion. Where others see art in Gaga, I see nothing genuine / original. Posing as a “special” someone doesn’t necessarily make her one too. It’s all a stage game. The Fame game. Please, Gaga, enough McQueen already! (photos via 1, 2, 3)

The dress is outstanding and so is her headpiece. This is the nicest thing that I have ever seen her wear. I like it but I am still not a Gaga monster. : )
I am proud to admit I am too old to get & understand the relevance of the ‘meat’ dress. It was just gross!
The Gaga brand team must work overtime to cash in as soon and often possible me thinks. I’ve an OD of her. Though I’ve to confess I still sing/dance along with her catchy tunes. The VMA’s have become a joke for die hard music fans. The McQueen dress is breathtaking so I wish it was wore with more style and grace. Most funny part -as I’ve read- was Cher, holding Gaga’s matching ‘meat bag’ in an outfit similar to her “If I could turn back time” video outfit. Then banned due to the fact children were watching too…tsja…..So who was the real diva here? I wonder if Gaga will ever achieve Cher’s longevity.
well the alexander mcqueen dress is the only thing that I admire. In fact I appreciate her because she really wears or do whatever she want to express. Kudos!
Saw the repeat on tv yesterday. She didn’t pay honour to that marvelous dress neither could she walk on the hoof-shoes. The envoriment was the wrong place too. It hurt my eyes and heart, this was too painful to watch….:(
The Alexander McQueen dress and shoes are absolutely beautiful. But the meat dress is just downright bizarre.
weird, bizzare, atrocious, horrendous, stupendous………………….. just some of the words to describe her and style.
