It would appear that the beauty industry’s efforts to switch focus from nails to (anything) else is working! To say that the latest Red Carpet nails were dull is just an understatement!
However, considering that the outfits were also playing the safe fashion card, the manicures must’ve naturally followed that path. For the new year, at least as far as the Golden Globes announced us – neutral beige and dark tones of red are the trendiest nails to wear! Neutral Nails
If we were used to seeing some intricate manicures on Kelly Osbourne, this time she opted for neutral beige. The same as Heidi Klum and Lana del Rey. All three ladies were wearing long, almond-shaped neutral nails – keep that in mind for your next visit to the nail salon!
Another significant segment of celebrities among which Diane Kruger, Salma Hayek, Zosia Mamet, Giuliana Rancic, Allison Williams opted for shorter, squoval nails in neutral shades of pink, similar to the French manicure opaques. Some even went with transparent lacquer, for the ultimate natural look: Julianne Moore, Amy Adams and even Cindy Crawford went all transparent with short nails.

Deep Red Nails
From Jennifer Aniston, Ellie Kemper or Amanda Peet, Viola Davis and Michelle Monaghan, the Red Carpet was overloaded with red nails! You can definitely replicate that look at home, on short, square nails – they’re a timeless classic! The only exception was Jennifer Lopez who opted for a satiny shade of plum for her long, pointy nails.
Dark Short Nails
Jessica Chastain matched her chocolate Versace dress with a short chocolate mani while Kerry Washington matched her Mary Katrantzou dress with almond shaped deep blue sparkly nails. Mellisa McCarthy was also wearing sparkly dark nails while Keira Knightley went all retro boho with deep grey metallic nails. Kate Beckinsale contrasted her sparkly dress with dark, short nails, just like Leslie Mann who was dressed in a beautiful yellow gown, complete with green clutch and dark nails!

Notably and proudly mentioning two ladies who were brave enough to go artsy with their nails: Green Grammer completely matched her dress and her nail art with a candy pink and gold glitter ombre while Maria Menounous was wearing a retro white halfmoon manicure spiced with golden lines.
