That’s it! The Fashion Week is officially on the roll and last night’s 2013 Style Awards kickstarted the fashionable event for which the island of Manhattan is getting smaller each year. Before we got our fashion week talk, I’ll let you in on a little secret: black is the new black!
Formal evening wear is getting back to black as numerous fashionable ladies attending the fancy Style Awards last night were wearing black outfits. Among them, our beloved Kate Upton, star of the night, in black Altuzarra dress and Jimmy Choo pumps. (hit the jump to see more celebrities walking the 2013 Style Awards red carpet in black)
I actually like Kate Upton’s look for the evening: tasteful, not too much, not too obvious and unusually classy for the young model! Jessica Pare was also wearing an Altuzarra black dress, from the same collection (Fall 2013) as Kate Upton’s, also slightly customized and deeply flattering Jesse.
Rachel Zoe showed off her new baby bump in a black dress with empire waist and pockets while her former protégée, Nicole Richie, who was hosting/presenting the event, walked the 2013 Style Awards Red Carpet in a black outfit from Antonio Berardi which she later changed in a handful of equally fashion forward outfits for her hosting duties.
Lily Aldridge was presenting at the fancy event in a sequined mini dress from Louis Vuitton complete with matching bow pumps from the same Louis Vuitton Spring 2013 collection. Also in black were singers Crystal Starr Knighton and Laurhan Beato and TV personality Melana Scantlin.
Legendary model Chrstie Brinkley brought along her 15yo daughter, Sailor Lee Brinkley Cook and she was also dressed in black. Designer Janie Bryant, fashion muse and writer Amy Fine Collins were also dressed in black with adornments here and there.
Stylist Trish Summerville adopted the dress code of the evening with a black dress and white lace trimmings.

I love Jessica Pare’s LBD but without the huge buttons. The snit of the neck and shoulder line is so perfect for me. I also like this dress because it’s wearable with pumps like she did. I would combine it also with knee high boots or over the knee boots, ankle boots, skinny pants like the model etc.
A very versatile LBD. :) <3
