The nineties super girls, in all their glory! How could you not love this Spring Summer 2009 campaign from DSquared2?
Linda going from Prada to DSquared could have been strange. Only this year, (maybe due to budget cuts) Prada went for a tiles-models-lineup so I have no regrets Linda Evangelista went dueling under Steven Meisel’s lens. Her fighting Naomi has a special kind of fashion drama I could stare at for hours! (isn’t it strange to see the temperamental Naomi Campbell in such defensive positions with such calm on her face?)
Besides the obvious smart black and a white girl – contract, do you think the fashion-violence mélange is a safe one? (photos via fotodecadent)

I don’t know are they going for the Glamazon gladiator beauties in a contest of death, honour and fashion,( a kind of fashion friendly Kill Bill) or are they going for the stereotypical catfight, HEY I SAW THAT BAG FIRST! or THE GET YOUR MITTS OFF OF MY MAN!! approach?
It is a fun photo to look at just to gaze at Linda and Naomi. : )
looks like stylized fighting
i dig it
“Besides the obvious smart black and a white girl – contract….” ???
I see Naomi Campbell, whom I do not think of as “obvious smart” and I see Linda Evangelista, whom I doesn’t see as just “a white girl”. Naomi looks fierce as ever and Linda, sorry, she’s has botoxed her beauty too much, that its gone in my view. I do not regonise her anymore. I do not blame Linda because women above a certain age do this “for business” and its normal these days…….
This ad-campaign: the violence-sex-artsy-fashion-photography by Steven Meisel. Mwah……
I love this campaign! It’s hilarious.
And I disagree…Linda doesn’t botox beyond recognition. This is pure internet fodder. Linda is one of the only ones brave enough to admit it and she has to suffer for her confession. Linda’s treatments are very subtle and for someone who is about to turn 44, she looks fantastic. Sure, she’s aged and THAT makes her look more different than anything else. Her lips have obviously thinned (but she refuses to plump them up). One needs to just look at Linda’s candids to see that she’s still the same Linda, always looking different with each season.
Anyway, the campaign is utterly captivating and fun! :-)
I remember a MTV programme broadcasted in the 90’s presented by Cindy Crawford. She interviewed some of her fellow supermodels. Linda was the only one who said she would do anything to be able to go on as a model. Kate [Moss], still “the baby” back then looked a bit like “aarrghh” and giggled. She was so cute back then……None of the others would think about it ever! Only Linda had no shame.. So I’m not surprised. But I don’t have to like her look now do I? I liked her a lot you see and thought at the time that she would never ever needed to do anything!!!
In the fashion media its not longer normal to grow old gracefully. And not only in the fashion media….
In the past women had to suffocate due to corsets as one example. Now we’re pushed into another corset: eternal youth a. o. things. And that annoys me because it doesn’t excist…..
Awesome photo shoot – it looks great! Can’t stand Naomi Campbell however. She looks every bit as arrogant and charmless as her reputation goes.
