The Red Carpet confrontation between two continents is not only fantastic but also an opportunity to conclude on major trends for the evening formal wear we’re supposed to look for. Cannes vs Billboard Music Awards, the dramatic leg slit glam dress case:
Jennifer Lopez 2014 Billboard Music Awards
Donna Karan red dress Looking at this gown, one may as well conclude that Jennifer Lopez has a glam style of her own as even 14 years later, J.Lo seems to go for the same design that made her famous in 2000 when attending the Grammy Awards in a green Versace dress.
Part of the Fall Winter 2014-2015 collection, the Donna Karan red see through dress was flattering and fabulous on the entertainer’s body as she looked like she never aged a day since the day she made Red Carpet history with the green gown! Yet here she is, 14 years, two marriages and a two gorgeous twins later, a real lesson in official events fashion extravaganza.
Blake Lively 2014 Cannes Film Festival Gucci Premiere bordeaux dress
A really enchanting sight, Blake Lively stepped on Europe’s most prestigious Red Carpet, on the French Riviera, at the premiere of Grace of Monaco (May 14th, the opening night of the Film Festival). The leg slit is one the essential spices of formal wear as it would appear yet again (remember Angelina’s now-legendary black velvet dress and her leg sticking out?)

Known for a series of Gucci ads, Blake seems to be taking her spokesperson role seriously as she goes out dressed exclusively with Frida Giannini’s designs for Gucci and looking fabulous each and every time. Although her involvement in the Grace of Monaco movie is still unclear to me, Blake was part of a star-studded cast in Beyonce and Jay Z’a ‘Run’ tour promo released this weekend. On a side note: Please listen to the words of Beyonce’s songs in this ‘Run’ teaser: doesn’t it explain the sudden ‘marital crisis’ as induced by the security footage depicting the scandal trio (Beyonce, Jay, Solange)? I know it’s a long shot, but it feels like a pre-teaser to this teaser, contributing to the popularity of this upcoming tour…
