Fur Dilemma – Burberry Faux Fur Revealed to be Real
February 5th, 2008 by kpriss
Why all this fascination around fur coats? Can it be reminiscence from our “savage” years? A way to show our hunting prizes without the mess of the actual hunt?
I always found myself on the other side of the barricade when natural fur involved: never understood why women (especially after a certain age) fall for those incredibly massive disgraceful, unpractical fur coats! What makes them proudly wear dead animals on their backs?
The Humane Society of the United States warned consumers that some of the winter coats labeled as “faux fur” or accessorized with “faux fur” may actually be made of real fur. A two-year investigation resulted in pulling out Burberry parkas from Saks Fifth Avenue because they were mislabeled with “faux fur collar”, Burlington Coat Factory were pulled out from Bloomingdale’s. For more accuracy – the mislabeled “faux fur” come from China where reports state that raccoon dog fur is mostly used for this kind of products.
Are you fascinated by fur coats? Or do you feel it’s rather “savage” and don’t want animal blood on your back?
Marion Cotillard Pictures by Raymond Meier

The script for Edith Piaf’s “La vie en rose” was written by the director, Oliver Dahan with just one face in mind. More specifically with two eyes in mind – Marion Cotillard’s eyes.
When I first heard that Edith Piaf’s life is going to be a movie, I was very curious about who’s going to play the main character. Now I won’t make this article a spoiler, but I will show you these wonderful pictures of her taken by Raymond Meier.
Chloë Sevigny the New Ambassador for Samsonite
February 4th, 2008 by kpriss
We can’t get enough of Chloë Sevigny! Tonight is her party for her collection at Opening Ceremony (at Webster Hall) but we also find out that miss Chloë is wrapping things up for Samsonite, for the party from the Bryant Park Hotel on Tuesday.
She’s the Samsonite new Ambassador for the Trunk Collection. Last year it was Christina Ricci for Samsonite’s Black Label Fashionaire line.
Now, now, let’s see – fashion disaster, check! Own clothes line, check! Fashion adviser for Elle magazine, check! Ambassador for a big brand’s line, check! Acting on the side, check! What’s next? If anything, I still want my teeny tiny square inch in NY Times Style Magazine, Vogue (remarquez, please, with every passing achievement in miss Chloë’s CV, I’ll enlarge my list of demands!)
Do you really look up to her sense of style?
Lafayette Lives La Vie en Rose
February 4th, 2008 by kpriss
The world wide renowned French retailer Groupe Galeries Lafayette is one of the most important fighters in the internationalization trend war. Tendency criticized in France as invasive and stealing away French individualism. But France itself pales in comparison to the ambitious Lafayette Groupe.
Whether it’s about les Galeries Lafayette, les Monoprix, the Groupe had a fabulous economical grow – from 1895 when two entrepreneurs opened a small store where they sold what was coming out of their first fashion atelier to today’s giant it was, certainly, a long road, but a very successful one!
Top 10 Colors for Fall 2008
February 4th, 2008 by kpriss
We’re not over spring-summer 2008 and yet I give you the colors for fall 2008. The selection is Pantone’s and representative for a majority of designer’s fall Collections.
Of course, our liberty of choice is not limited by this report, and if you do cherish black, no one will stop you from over flooding your wardrobe with it!
Nevertheless, I must have my say – stop wearing black! It’s so unimaginative!
Just look at these beautiful shades! The first one is called Blue Iris, on second comes Royal Lilac, on third is Shady Glade, fourth is Caribbean Sea, fifth is Twilight Blue, then Aurora Red, Ochre, Burnt Orange, Shitake, and Whitered Rose on last.
“Withered Rose is a very strong element that stands out on its own. It plays a dual role as a strong mineral hue and also has a touch of natural terrain.”
Besides being blue-ish, the 2008 fall season is colorful. I can’t wait to see that happening! What about you? Planning to stick with grey and brown?
DKNY Pro Bicycles Campaign Ended Unsuccessfully
February 4th, 2008 by kpriss
Fin January, the Marketing department over at Donna Karan New York decided to take the streets by two wheels. The New York City Department of Transportation and DKNY partnered in trying to promote biking as alternative mode of transportation.
Spotted in New York were the chained orange bikes with DKNY.com logos on. The locals reaction was, however, surprising. The DKNY bikes were installed on Thursday and by Saturday afternoon they had all been defaced and removed spontaneously. The unseen face of this fashion initiative is that it was, in fact, a copy cat action!
Outfit of the Day – Herve Leger Max Azria Rainbow Bandage Dress
February 4th, 2008 by kpriss
Max Azria is taking BCBG and putting it into Herve Leger. For now I feel rather in expectancy of what it may become of the Herve Leger company, set to become public next year.
One of the celebrities attending the Max Azria Herve Leger was Joss Stone. Her dress looked so joyful to me that I couldn’t do else but showing it to you! It’s a figure embracing dress, full of bright, rainbow colors and even if it looks like a dress worn by LiLo last year, I still find it oh-so-pretty! I sure hope to find one like this on a budget. Who knows! If you happen to see a look alike dress, please let me know, I just love it!
Madonna’s $10 Millions Hair Deal
February 3rd, 2008 by kpriss
Forbes made her first-ever Cash Queens of Music list of the top-earning female musicians, banking $72 million between June 2006 and June 2007.
Then what could have gone so terribly wrong to make her appear in a Sunsilk Commercial?
Ok, it’s for the Superbowl, ok, the same commercial features Marilyn Monroe (and Shakira), but Sunsilk? If I’ll add a monstrous 10 millions check for this participation in the advertising campaign, then it all goes crystal clear with Madonna.
How low can one go for money? (m.. tricky question, I agree, but it’s true she was rewarded with a rather high amount to participate.. would it be because it’s a lame product? hmm, it’s for you to say. I for one, never used it. So? Is it that good? Or that bad to worth $10 millions?)
