Marc Jacobs Ad Campaign Billboard
May 15th, 2008 by kpriss
I’m imagining that even when the advertised product is a brand, it’s still a product. And that advertising needs a message. A message that’s supposed to make you buy that product even if you don’t need it.
How about Marc Jacobs Advertising lately? At first it was surprising. And funny. Now it’s boring and gross. Well, someone pulled a bad joke on this billboard from Murly Square, West Village Manhattan so now it’s cut in half, we’ll never know why those two pictured up there look so…ahem…happy! Maybe looking from waist down we would have had a chance to understand Marc. Jacobs.

Alex And Chloe Sunglasses – Wayfarers And Aviators In Sight
May 15th, 2008 by kpriss
For a year I’ve been meaning to take the Wayfarer ways and buy myself a pair. The only problem was which color?!
And then, when deciding the color, I wasn’t happy about the shape. They seem too little for my face frame so I held back. Then I thought about my long time love – the aviators. Only this time I wanted two pairs. For me and my husband. The only problem was they seem too little for my husband’s face frame so, again, I held back. Now I know why – I was waiting for Alex and Chloe’s collection! First time I laid eyes on these beauties I knew they had my name written allover! Just take a look at them (two more follow the first red ones that I found stunning)!
Natalie Portman In Lanvin At The 61st Edition Of Cannes Film Festival
May 14th, 2008 by kpriss
I love this girl because she’s ambitious and a perfectionist, cute like a button and all modest. Not to mention she’s a smart kid.
What I don’t understand is how someone with that many synapses can go so fashion-wrong! The Lanvin she’s wearing, it’s not a bad dress, it just looks bad on her (I already posted a gorgeous purple number today)! And maybe it could have been.. acceptable.. if it wasn’t for those black patent shoes! They may be from her vegan te casan collection and they may cost $255, they’re still ugly and suited for a 50 years old!

Cate Blanchett In Armani Prive At The 61st Edition Of Cannes Film Festival
May 14th, 2008 by kpriss
I read somewhere that Cate looks just like she’s eating a halogen bulb every morning. And so she does!
Looking at this fresh face, incredible smile, serene expression, I’d go for a dozen of bulbs, but then again, mothers always have a special halo. Would you say she just gave birth a month ago? Not to mention the beautiful Armani Prive dress she chose for this 61st Edition of Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet! Bravo Cate!

Charlize Theron Goes Dior Resort
May 14th, 2008 by kpriss
I look at this and see no flaws whatsoever. Not only the combination of purple and yellow is almost impossible to wear and Charlize pulls it off like a princess, but the dress is so feminine and perfectly balanced, it’s simply irresistible to stare at.
She has a way to show herself and the clothes she wears in the best light possible so her presence in the front row for the Christian Dior Resort Collection 2009 wearing such an outfit, almost stole the show from the catwalk.

Galliano For Christian Dior Resort Collection 2009
May 14th, 2008 by kpriss
I don’t usually cover fashion shows, especially a year ahead. But this Resort Collection 2009 from Christian Dior looked like a candy show.
Admitting it was very commercial, it’s a plus and a minus. Minus because haute couture is not about wearable but mostly about art. Plus because it looks so beautiful on the catwalk, I can’t hold back writing this article about it (have struggled for a day now, and still can’t get it out of my head!). I’ll just give you what I loved (and of course, would suit me, so I’m completely subjective).

Nike For Opening Ceremony
May 14th, 2008 by kpriss
We knew it would be a sneakers year, only we didn’t see it coming quite like this! Nike has a literally blooming collaboration with Opening Ceremony.
Not that I wouldn’t embrace trends, not that I wouldn’t be open minded. Not that Opening Ceremony hasn’t got enough attention already with that Chloë so-called-business…But these Nike honestly look like some bad joke on fashion. I’m sure hundreds of adorers will cast the stone, but I ask you – how long until a… well.. for the sake of diplomacy, let’s call it “design” like this will fade from fashion’s radar? A month? Two?

Day For Night Solar Dress – Perfect Nightclub Dress
May 14th, 2008 by kpriss
It looks pretty, it sounds interesting… And it’s not one of Paco Rabanne famous sixties signature dresses!
It’s called Day-For-Night Solar Dress and it’s a completely ecological couture. It has 448 white circuit board tiles that soak up the solar power and make it shine during night time (I’ll cut the circuits-story and the technical details). You could be your own nightclub, the spotlight remains on you, no matter what.. not to mention the legendary power of the Rabanne-like design!
