Kate Moss Starlight T-Shirt For Charity
June 7th, 2008 by kpriss
Knowing how it really works and how “personal” are the personal designs of celeb-turned-designers, what exactly does it mean that Kate Moss personally designed a t-shirt? Giving her signature on a predesigned theme?
All the profits from the Kate Moss Starlight T-Shirt go to the Starlight Children’s Foundation that just celebrated the 21st birthday this week: “Starlight offers a lot of hope to a lot of children at a difficult time in their life. I was really happy to help.” Does a charity involve you more when a celebrity is already in?

Victoria Beckham Loves Ana Sekularac
June 6th, 2008 by kpriss
When I first saw Victoria Beckham smiling, my world came tumbling down and I couldn’t care less if she was wearing her usual sack of potatoes or a gorgeous frock! Posh smiled!
However, she couldn’t have stunned everyone with her forgetting the pout and smiling so people actually asked what she was wearing. Naturally a pear of her own designed denim brand dVb but other than that I was clueless. The ways of fashion blogosphere are not without answers so here I am reading a piece of Victoria Beckham wearing Ana Sekularac, a British designer who swept everyone’s attention at the London fashion week (last season) and discovering it was the actual outfit I had no idea what it was.
Not your average designer, but then again, not your average fashion consumer either. Posh is one-of-a-kind, so are the clothes she’s choosing (ok, maybe except for the red carpet appearances, a mess altogether, but as for her regular outings, is Posh guilty of fashion offence?)

Ma Dame By Jean Paul Gaultier With Agyness Deyn
June 6th, 2008 by kpriss
99’s Fragile perfume for women has now a younger sister (or a daughter). Ma Dame (actually means My Lady) is a fragrance for young androgyny women.
It’s a light, floral fresh rose-grenadine -musk-cedar-smell-like perfume with a clear enough agenda since the ad splash features Agyness Deyn and Gaultier himself (photographed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino. I also added the clip so you’d see what kind of campaign we’re talking about).

Friday Break – Liza Minnelli Money Money From Cabaret Musical
June 6th, 2008 by kpriss
So many times we feel sitting ducks in front of the merciless marketing, so many times we felt the urge to absolutely buy something we have no use for nor need in any way just because… well, because “Money Makes The World Go Around”!
I always found this piece of Cabaret irresistible and never out of fashion. A simple way to make fun of the engine behind almost every thing now. Oh, if people could forget running after the money from time to time! They’d see the world around and how beautiful and simple life can actually be! Enjoy a wonderful Liza Minnelli in a scene from Cabaret, the musical par excellence: Money, Money! (and feel free to sing along, I also added some of the lyrics right after the video)
Nicole Richie House Of Harlow Jewelry Collection
June 5th, 2008 by kpriss
At first there was the news about Nicole Richie’s intentions to launch a maternity clothing line. Now those rumors are swept away by the “House of Harlow” Collection.
No, it’s not about clothes. It’s about jewelry. Just like Christina Aguilera, new mum Nicole has a jewelry collection coming out. This Fall, House of Harlow will proudly hit the market.
“It’s all costume jewelry. I like to play with jewelry and mix and match. (I’m working with) this really talented woman named Shelley Gibbs. She’s an artist and she sketches everything.”
Am I getting things wrong here? Clothing is harder than jewelry making? I thought opening your wardrobe for a team of hardworking stylists who will ever remain in shadow it’s as simple as it gets…(via popcrunch, sfgate)
UPDATE: Here are two images from the House Of Harlow 1960 Collection by Nicole Richie. Have to say, it looks pretty catchy! (click thumbnails to see larger images)
Brad Pitt Buys $293,000 Table
June 5th, 2008 by kpriss
Every now and then, I fall under the spell of a piece of furniture, some interior decoration or some amazing house.
When I saw this white…. something…. I didn’t knew what to say…I didn’t even understood what it is or what it stands for! Then I read it’s a table. Freshly purchased by Brad Pitt, this very particular looking table is called Cinderella and costs $293,000. As impressive as it may look, this white marble rococo style table is made by the Dutch artist Jeroen Verhoeven with CAD-CAM (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing) and hand-finished.
I wonder if integrating computer into art is not less of an art… I always looked at hand-crafted-objects like this one with admiration and thought the work put into them added an enormous value to the outcome. Does modern technique steal that all away?

Inès de la Fressange Légion D’Honneur
June 5th, 2008 by kpriss
Given that the distinction “Legion of Honor” is awarded to those who contributed to the glory of France ever since Napoléon Bonaparte established it to be so in 1802, today’s choice of “Légionnaires” is at least strange.
Inès de la Fressange’s contribution to the glory of France is not quite obvious to me. Of course she’s famous, of course her face is easily recognizable for having been a Chanel model (now she’s in charge with communications at Roger Vivier), but where’s “la gloire” in all that?
