Daria Werbowy Vogue Paris August 2008

Isn’t this a bit harsh for a summer cover? Then again, it’s a Vogue Paris issue, so everything’s allowed. Even a black and red cover in august.

The pictorial is all black and white signed Inez and Vinoodh and of course made by Carine Roitfeld. I like the photos. And Daria has a powerful look. She almost makes it to the “supermodel” standard. Or maybe it’s because of the retro air from the photos. And the ones where she’s wearing a sheep for vest or coat or boots are really beautiful. The contrast between her skinny legs and those sheep-boots has a cliché sound to it but still makes a great impression. Is this Vogue Paris working for you? Friday Break – Nicole Kidman And Robbie Williams Somethin Stupid

I guess you already know I’m not a Nicole Kidman fan. On the contrary, I find her so false and artificial I can hardly understand why she’s so sought after.

However, even I am entitled to a little exception every little now and then and this is my Nicole Kidman’s exception. Alongside Robbie Williams she’s working such a wonderful character I hardly can deny the beauty of it all. You tell me how it looks like and especially how it sounds like! I for one confessed my falling for this song. Enjoy this Friday Break – Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman Somethin’ Stupid!

Gisele Bundchen V Magazine No 54

It won’t be long before fashion shows will exhibit intimate parts and call it art. Those were the words of my dearest husband no more than two weeks ago when he read one of my postings about a fashion show.

I looked at him and raised my eyebrows “You really think so?”. At the time I wasn’t expecting something like this V cover. Now I’m facing a playboy-like Gisele on V 54 (by Mario Testino) and ask myself if my husband qualifies for fashion guru. Oh well, I guess I’m the lucky one! Now back to Gisele – if she’s posing like that for a fashion magazine, it doesn’t surprise me she tops the best paid models of the world. I just wonder what’s in it for a woman. Speaking for myself – I don’t really see the fashion in those poses. I see the body. I see the skin, of course (who doesn’t? you don’t have to be a fashion guru to accomplish that vision) I even see the pink nails (toe nails matching). Now where’s the style? Where’s la moda?(the pictorial follows right after the jump)

World’s Most Expensive Cake – Louis Vuitton Patchwork Cake

You’re wondering, maybe, what is that cake talk on stylefrizz… Well it’s not for nothing, you can be sure of that!

Gregory Paul Soriano has made something far more appalling than that tribute patchwork Louis Vuitton Bag. A Patchwork Cake. I’m impressed by the idea. I’m even impressed by the looks and still couldn’t find reason enough to convince myself it’s not outrageous. Don’t get me wrong – I love cakes! And most of all, I love every reason that calls for celebration, even the smallest one! Now you tell me – what celebration calls for a patchwork Louis Vuitton cake?

Kate Moss US Vogue August 2008

When the rumors about a new Vogue with Kate Moss promised a Brigitte Bardot look for her I felt disappointed. The eternal lack of originality disappointment.

Then again we’re talking a vacation issue somehow, clichés are the assured success. Or not. US Vogue is stubbornly committed to shred everyone’s conception about age and looks into photoshop pieces and throw them to the crowds. They’ve done before, they’ll do it again. And again.(two more images follow after the jump)

Tiffany 0 eBay 1

Isn’t lovely to have a piece of good news every once in awhile? France may be the promised land of fashion and style, but surely isn’t the honey land of commerce!

I could get political on this one so I’ll just take on the day’s subject for me: eBay won against Tiffany in a lawsuit filed four years ago (Tiffany accused eBay of not having the legal responsibility to prevent counterfeit sales). The judge decided that it was not up to the site to play vigilante over Tiffany’s brand. (there’s a fragment from the judge’s decision after the jump)

Hosting Worries

As you may have seen, yesterday we had some hosting troubles. I guess it’s true when they say a trouble doesn’t come alone. The day before I was facing a minor digestive problem, the day after our beloved website refused to work for several hours.

As a result of long and brilliant administrative interventions, the issues were eliminated (or at least 90% of them) and things came back on track.

Server cablesI wanted to wait and be sure that everything was in order before I stated my apologies in the name of technology – if you find something working against you within stylefrizz.com, please send a message so things may be rectified in the shortest time possible! Thank you!

Switch Flops – Change Straps Like You Change Shoes

This could be the next big thing in shoes! And why shouldn’t it be? I know I have at least one pair of flip flops I really love and I’d take just about anywhere (and to be honest I think they really would match just about everything because the straps are transparent). Let’s be honest – how many times have you sworn never to wear high heels again? And those flats that offer no comfort, the rigid soles working almost against you every time you take a step?

People don’t go just for the elegant look, they’re also drawn by the infamous uggs, the upcoming new uggs – the muks, the elegantless but oh-so-comfy birckenstocks so why not choose a pair of flipflops and change the straps every time you please (not to mention the space economy this would mean)? Could it work, what do you say?
