Drew Barrymore’s Harper’s Bazaar October 2010
September 20th, 2010 by kpriss
There’s actually just a handful of things a magazine issue can do to you – besides actually buying it, that is – and one of them is appalling you with a cover only. Today I will get into that. Again.
And I’ll start with a mild one: Drew Barrymore on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar October 2010. Lovely lady, lovely looks, horrific photoshop work. We talk so much about this and still nothing changes – we don’t get used to it and those responsible of over – using it don’t get the right measures! We like Drew enough already, there’s no need to give her a statue – like complexion or alienate her physical features just to make a cover smoother and more commercially interesting. More so: why’s Drew looking like Julianne Moore for the people of Harper’s Bazaar completely eludes me. Anyone has any ideas? (HB via)

What Men Know About Fashion
September 20th, 2010 by kpriss
Now did you ever asked yourself that? You or / and your man? It’s tricky one, I promise! Here’s the proof: they conducted a study about fashion terminology on a group of 1,356 men and the results are amusing to say the least!
Did you know that when you say “tunic” some men will think of a flower? (about 53% from the study group) And when you say “hosiery”, some men will imagine it has to do with gardening appliances? (33% from the studied group) Oh, and please, don’t even hope that “Halter – neck” will evoke the oh – so – simple clothing item! Oh, no! For some of our men, halter – neck is just a way to designate a roller coaster or a neck brace! (10% for the first one and 27% for the second). You know what “culotte” means to them? For a good 32% it’s all about a disease and for 39% it’s a reference to a French town! And get this: a “wrap – over” is most certainly a sandwich (for 40% from the studied group), “chiffon” is the a name for a cleaning product (38%), a “bandeau” designates an 80s musical event (27%) aaaaaand (are you ready?) a pashmina is definitely an Indian meal or a country while a “gilet” is a type of kitchen knife! Herve Leger By Max Azria Spring Summer 2011 Collection
September 17th, 2010 by kpriss
How do you convince yourself through an entire movie if you sense it’s not worth the visual trouble? I had to fragment Herve Leger’s Spring Summer 2011 Collection fashion show viewing just to make it till its end.
Challenging. Really challenging. Herve Leger’s mythical bandage dress has diluted so much over the last heavy entertainment industry people rotation that it has lost its meaning and charm. Max Azria sensed that (or maybe not, who actually knows what’s going on in a designer’s head?) and went for a rising aesthetic value in the ranks of our beloved celebs: the corset. (there’s more after the jump, don’t miss the images and the video from the collection!)
Ralph Lauren RLX Affinity Bicycles
September 17th, 2010 by kpriss
Cycling is the new couture? I wish! I still have dreams about taking the family out for cycling! I would pretty much look like a biking kangaroo right now so I’m taking a rain check on that and still making this huge inspiration panel in my mind for when we’re all be a big happy cycling pack.
Now getting back to that couture mention – Ralph Lauren has designed a bicycle with Affinity: Affinity Lo Pro and Kissena Ralph Lauren RLX. Looking great (if you like the fixed gear bikes – and even if you don’t, you have to agree it’s a pretty clean looking bike design) but not a word on a price yet. If you’re in the area – the grey Kissena will be available at the Ralph Lauren Rhinelander Mansion, on Madison Av, NY – you could give us a hint about the price tag. Great looking bikes, really! Wouldn’t you agree? (Affinity via)
Megan Fox Armani Jeans Video Ad The Tip
September 17th, 2010 by kpriss
Much to my surprise, this fashvideo actually had a story. Not academy award – worthy, but a story nevertheless. And that’s oh-so rare in the fashion advertorial business nowadays!
It’s Armani Jeans by Megan Fox. Nothing Fox – unusual that, God forbid, could challenge your intricate neuronal system! Easy, clear intentions, predictable actions and reactions. Classical. Typical. They didn’t bother too much about morality and reality either. Low intelligence ad starring a gorgeous – by – Red Carpet standards woman and some male drooling all over for her while she’s dressing up in plain view. Please, do not try this at home or any other place!

Rodarte Spring Summer 2011 Collection
September 16th, 2010 by kpriss
You know, I was feeling remorseful (in a fashionable way, biensur) for having started the NY Fashion Week reviews with (what looked like) the best collection – Marc Jacobs. Now I know I was actually lucky! Lucky to have stepped out in the Fashion Week Wide Mad World with the right foot. I ever I would have taken the NYFW road using the Rodarte Spring Summer 2011 perspective, doom was written all over my articles.
Long introduction, but I needed it! After watching the Rodarte Spring Summer 2011 collection video (you can watch it too, I included it right after the jump), I felt lost. All my Rodarte certitudes were turned to dust. Golden dust, but dust nevertheless. Come, come click through, let’s debate this!
Jesus Luz Does Vs Magazine
September 16th, 2010 by kpriss
As much as I love Vs. Magazine, I have to keep my honest self above everything else and keep the objectivity path when pointing towards a certain topic. We talked about Vs. and their latest issue not long ago. What you have not seen in those preview images was that Jesus Luz is also part of this issue.
He’s there, yes, he is! His Jorgen Ringstrand – signed pictorial looks like what you’ll see below and after the jump and there’s also a video available on the Vs. website, a behind the scenes video of the actual photo shooting. Now let’s talk Jesus.
Donna Karan Spring Summer 2011 Collection
September 15th, 2010 by kpriss
Yesterday I thought there wasn’t anything that could pull the plug on the colorful seventies fiesta that was the New York Fashion Week until now. Today things have changed.
Donna Karan’s Spring Summer 2011 collection was acclaimed and received with warmth and applause. I think they were just being polite since Donna Karan is celebrating 25 years in the business. Diplomacy runs the world. Sincerity, however, flows through my veins. So let’s see what this collection was really made of!
