Real Hair In Real Fashion Magazines. Shalom Harlow From The 90s

I realize this sounds like cut – out from Chris Rock’s documentary, but I mean good, I promise! I want us all to love our God given hair! Our natural resources! And I promise one other thing : we’re beautiful, just the way we are!

Now – I came across this pictorial from a (apparently Vogue) fashion magazine circa 1997. I’ll keep the “so beautiful” comments short because I really want us to focus on the hair – This is how my hair looks like. And I bet many of you can say that. My unstyled locks are identical to those shown by Shalom Harlow in this pictorial. And normally, they’d be labeled with a “messy” attribute and I’d be advised to consult with a specialist before going out the door looking like that.

But you know what? There’s nothing wrong with your hair looking like that! Real hair, real curls are so rare to find these days, it has become an eccentricity to show them off! I’m so over curling iron curls! I’m so done with straightener’s twirls! I love my hair all natural. And if we stand tall, proud of who we are, we’ll make it fashionable again! Look at Franca Sozzani – I don’t remember seeing a single picture of her with styled / straightened hair! And she’s a Vogue editor, for hair’s sake! So? Will you join me in my natural hair crusade?

Katy Perry’s New Short(er) Straight Bob And Versace White Leather Dress

Have you seen Katy Perry’s new hairdo? It’s a short bob, of an uncertain color variety. And I thought Katy’s hair was natural! I can’t seem to adjust to this new extensions fashion! I’d better do it, and quick, huh? You simply can’t know who’s having real hair and who’s on real fake hair!

Aside from Katy Perry’s new multicolored slick bob (you know, the bob again), you have to check out her white leather dress with studs from the Versace Spring Summer 2012 collection (you know there was a similar dress in the H & M Versace collection too)! It’s so… edgy. So unusual for Katy’s normal playful style! I mean.. Versace and playful just don’t go together. Do they? (Katy was all dressed up for the “Change begins within” annual event from Los Angeles, December 3rd)

Cate Blanchett, Flawless In Louis Vuitton For Store Opening

It’s been a while since my last Cate Blanchett post. And if this sounds like a confession, it’s not a random thing (wink) – I feel like I’ve been missing out on something really important. And mighty beautiful!

Every time I look at Cate, I get this feeling of complete peace and tranquility, of utter beauty and surreal grace! Take this random example of Cate Blanchett participating at a Louis Vuitton store opening in Australia, Friday, December 2 in Sydney. She’s beaming! Like she’s glowing from the inside! (isn’t she? sure, I know the Louis Vuitton dress enhances that ethereal feeling, but still…) Again I think her being distributed as Galadrier was brilliant! I can’t think of Galadrier without seeing Cate’s face or hearing Cate’s voice – wasn’t she the best choice for the role?

Kate Moss Covers Vogue Paris December 2011 January 2012

It’s been a while since I haven’t seen Kate Moss on a magazine cover! Especially a Vogue Paris cover! So here she is, in all her mimic splendor, doing her best Bowie impersonation for the December 2011 January 2012 issue of VP as photographed by Mert and Marcus.

You should also notice that this is the music issue. So why isn’t there a musician on the cover, you’d ask? Because we have Kate wonder – Moss who is married to a musician and who is also flirting with music herself, singing here and there at her husband’s venues. Anyhow, I admit I liked her impersonation of David Bowie, even if many voices raised against it.

What you need to know, if this cover is pushing you towards the newsstand: don’t expect a Kate Moss pictorial inside – there isn’t any! (click through to discover Vogue Paris’ inside surprise!)

Gemma Ward Is Great Gatsby’s Catherine

Finally! A picture of the lovely Gemma Ward in The Great Gatsby! Gemma is part of the cast directed by Baz Luhrmann and set to be released in the summer of 2012. The Great Gatsby is currently filming this is just one of those on – set pictures meant to tease us more than anything.

I love Gemma’s hair and costume and I’m sure she’s going to be great – she’s playing Caherine, Isla Fischer’s character sister (or so they say). Cross my fingers for her part to be more significant than her singing a song in the Pirates! Then again, it would appear that the role of casting models in various movies is just for aesthetic purposes (Sasha Pivovarova’s In Time, anyone?). Do they make such bad actors?

Audrey Hepburn’s White Lace Roman Holiday Was Auctioned Off

Audrey Hepburn. Indisputably one of the greatest actresses the world has ever seen, and surely one of the most beautiful and graceful women we’ve ever laid eyes on.

Her movies are legendary as is her very own persona. And that is something we already discussed and agreed upon. Titles like Roman Holiday or Breakfast at Tiffany’s will always be pinned on top most of must – see – movies – in – a – lifetime lists. A replica or a variation of at least one of Audrey’s dresses should be in every woman’s wardrobe.

However, when one of Audrey Hepburn’s dresses was auctioned off, there were no bidders bidders for the iconic item! The white lace dress worn by Audrey in Roman Holiday and later on for the Academy Awards (where she actually received an Oscar for Best Actress in the movie Roman Holiday), although which Audrey herself referred to as her “lucky dress” wasn’t able to raise any bids sold for apx $131,000 (at a Kerry – Anne auction held in London this very Tuesday). How is that possible? How’s that for accurate press these days? Thank you, Mr. Jon Moore for straightening out this mess!
