Liya Kebede’s White Isabel Marant Look For New Movie Premiere
March 30th, 2012 by kpriss
Liya Kebede is one of my favorite models. The 34yo Ethiopian beauty has gone from the pretty face status to activism and even fashion design – she’s fighting for the maternal health issues and for a better Ethiopian future through her ethical Lemlem fashion label. Model, activist, designer, mother (of two), wife and, more recently, actress.
We’ve seen Liya in Desert Flower (at least we’ve all seen the trailer), she’s also been in Black Gold (alongside Antonio Banderas and Freida Pinto) and now she’s a queen in a new French movie – “Sur la piste du Marsupilami”. For the Parisian premiere of the said movie, Liya was absolutely glowing in a white ensemble by Isabel Marant (from the Fall Winter 2012 2013 collection).
There’s just one word to sum it up: perfection! (anyone cares to disagree? Good. I thought so too! – wink – however, if you feel like there’s something left to say, do hit the comments section but not before casting your vote after the photo! Oh, and you can also watch the trailer of “Sur la piste du Marsupilami” after the jump)
Vogue Italia April 2012 Double Cover Night Of Nights
March 30th, 2012 by kpriss
Now that’s interesting! Not that I would expect less from Vogue Italia! Franca Sozzani is stepping into another controversy, eyes wide shut. Oops! I meant with and without mask. Or at least that seems to be the theme of Vogue Italy’s April 2012 issue.
A double cover with various models, both men and women, photographed by Steven Meisel. Yes. Again. (he’s responsible for last month’s Haute Mess too). It’s an interesting “spot the differences” game and I’m really curious of what this mysterious “Night of Nights” themed pictorial really stands for. At least it’s not boring, not cliché and certainly not safe. (is it?)
Keira Knightley Covers Interview April 2012
March 30th, 2012 by kpriss
Wow! It’s been a while since my last Keira Knightley cover! But this Interview April 2012 cover really is outstanding work! Keira is a grown up now, she doesn’t need to pout on every magazine cover she shows her pretty little head! And that’s great.
There’s no word about the photographed yet, only a handful of promising cover titles – there’s even a tiny mention of Michael Pitt and Jamie Bochert hitting the North African Desert (I wonder if they’re talking about that Selfridges short film we watched last week?). Either way, I hope Keira gets more photo shoots like this one, she really looks amazing! (and I keep my fingers crossed for the inside pictorial to be just as magnificent!)
Favorite Summer Dresses: Striped Tank Dress From Hatch
March 30th, 2012 by kpriss
I love stripes. But who doesn’t? the navy & white stripes have become a wardrobe staple for so many seasons, it’s hard to browse a boutique’s collections without noticing at least one variation in stripes. Now I’m adding a stripe dress to my Favorite Summer Dresses list! It’s a tank maxi dress that can be worn up or down, rock’n’roll or casual, with a leather or jeans jacket, with a loose cardi or a silky scarf. It’s totally my kind of dress! (available here)
Learn To Embrace Messy Hair
March 30th, 2012 by kpriss
Talking about hair… here’s something I put together for you today. Like it or not, messy hair is part of our life. Fight it and it’s like you were fighting your nature. And fighting nature is never good. Have you ever tried to measure yourself with a tornado? I’m tellin’ya, better befriend Nature, harmony is definitely better than fighting anything, be it as frizzy as a broom!
(as usual, click the image for larger view; if you know the source of the images, please let me know so I can add proper credits. And … embrace and enjoy your Messy Hair!)
Top 5 Facts About Hair
March 30th, 2012 by kpriss
(maybe you know, maybe you don’t, either way, I found out about all these tips and tricks – and lots more – just doing some research about how to deal with my own hair) As you know already, I’m a frizzy haired girl. And although I’ve heard some people saying “oh, how I wish I had your hair!” over the years, let me tell you, it’s not a walk on the beach! And those of you out there, curly haired people, can testify to just that!
If I were to put together everything I know about curly hair, everything I found out over the years, I could easily write a paper with a pompous title like “the curly hair science”! (they should teach that in school. Where needed). I’m curious of nature and pretty much a self taught individual, because of my curiosity. And I gathered some very interesting facts about hair, over the years! If you’re as curious as I was, click through to find out more:
L’Oreal Gets Serious With Global Hair Research Center
March 29th, 2012 by kpriss
L’Oreal opened a fancy center for hair research outside of Paris. It’s the center of the hair research operations L’Oreal has been conducted in six separate institutions all over the world. 100 Million Euros, 500 employees (chemists, opticians, metrologists, computer scientists, statisticians and more) working together (in this fanciful siege below) to establish the best L’Oreal products for your hair! Isn’t that wonderful news? I love it when they get all mathematical on shampoo!
Jessica Stam Opens Up About Vogue Italia Controversy
March 29th, 2012 by kpriss
We’re used to being amazed by those beautiful, graceful models anytime, with any occasion. But how often do we really want to hear them talk? Find out what they really have to say? Jessica Stam was recently questioned about her perspective over Vogue Italia’s Over the Top controversy (you know, that too – much issue covered by Joan Smalls!).
And here’s what La Stam had to day about it all (when asked how she felt about that Haute Mess story that some people considered racially offensive):
“I don’t know, the pictures, like the references were pulled off of websites and pretty exact to these…references, so I don’t know. I mean, it’s all in fun and people get…(mumble, mumble) I don’t know …whatever.”
