Penelope Cruz was a perfect fit for the Red Carpets tonight, at the 81th Academy Awards Ceremony.
Not only she had a beautiful buttery white dress, a vintage Pierre Balmain, but she also won an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Her role in Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona was truly inspired and she well deserved the golden statue!
I have a weakness for her as an actress, but I wasn’t always in accord with Penelope‘s outfit choices. This time, however, even if it looks like a wedding gown, I like her Pierre Balmain dress! Do you think it was too much of a marriage flavor for the 2009 Oscars Red Carpet? (photos via celebutopia)

She looks lovely but it reminds me of shears for your windows for some reason, or a wedding dress all she needs is a veil and bouquet.
just beautiful!!!
even though it’s vintage Balmain, it’s nice to see a comeback from that fashion house.
Yes, a very beautiful wedding dress! First thing we said and then: “Where’s Javier as her groom?” (or something like that).
Loved it – it looks like a classic dress up dress from the 50’s. Something Grace Kelly would have worn. Beautiful, just beautiful.
wow! just fablous. probably my favorite dress of all the ones to ever walk the red carpet. just amazing. i love vintage, victorian looking dresses and this one really said it. its somthing that a victorian lady would have worn. she kinda fits that look her self.
She’s a deserving actress, regardless of her wedding-like gown!
I’m glad she didn’t go for a Chanel like last year.
Goregous dress- a little on the bridal side- but who cares.
