Beyonce In Black Dress For 2009 Oscars

Beyonce is keen on showing us what a wonderful body she has and how much her waist can diminish when she’s wearing a corset!

That’s fine by me but she should do that every once in a while. Not with every Red Carpet occasion she gets! I don’t know if she’s wearing another designer (but her mom), but that black dress with golden flowery embroidery looks like a curtain! And why she poured that oil on her? Didn’t someone tell her that it’s the 2009 Oscars and not some St. Tropez beach? (photos via celebutopia)

I so want a copy of this dress for my Barbie doll who is named Ellington (given to me by one of my best buds)! She would look great in this, I am not sure that I like this on Beyonce though.
Ellington the Barbie doll sits in stylish fashion on one of my book shelves. She is stunning and has a fantastic afro! She can wear anything! : )

she never gets it right!! ugly ugly ugly!! as always!

#4 Brian on 02.23.09 at 6:47 am

the dress is just horrible….and from the way she is posing..she thinks she looks like a million dollars…beyonce is always over the top..she needs a new stylist..all the websites are nominating her for worst dressed

#5 Adriana on 02.23.09 at 10:05 am

I really hope Barbie Ellington looks great in this because Beyonce definitely doesn’t!

#6 AnneLouise from Florida USA on 02.23.09 at 10:25 am

Hey, if ya got, flaunt it. Except for the oil glare in my eyes, I like the dress. The gold matches the Oscar statue and she didn’t match anyone elses style last night. Phenominal body.

shes sexy like always

#8 Ellington on 02.23.09 at 7:43 pm

Yes Adriana, Barbie Ellington would look fabu in this! Like I said she looks great in everything!
If Mattel makes a copy of this for Barbie I am going to get it for her!
: )

Okay I have got to say this.
Dear God in heaven that Youtube clip is the epitome of examples of why I do not watch the Oscars.
Just watching 1:37 of that clip hurt my soul and sensibilities. : P

I have a similar dress, now all I need is an invitation to Oscars:)

#11 MS BROOKLYN, NY on 02.24.09 at 4:16 am

Beyonce you look great as always. to the haters kiss my foot. the dress shows all her curves why not flaunt it she got it going on. take Heide Klum in that red whatever to want to call it. she looks like trash. keep on keeping on Beyonce. i’m a 64 yrs old you are beautiful don’t let these haters get to you. p.s. if Jay Z gives you any problems all you have to do is let me know i will give him a good old fashion Brooklyn beat down as if i was his mama. you hear me Jay Z, you better be good to her.

Ellington that was the first time since years the Oscars had these Broadway kinda thing. We thought the “sexiest man alive” of this year or was it 2008, whatever, has a lot off talents! And we could chat and go to the toilet at these moments……? But what’s wrong with minute 1.37? Grease? They did this because the musical is back. Mamma Mia, not my cuppa tea though, is a huge success. The musical is like old Hollywood. That’s it……

Has anyone seen the Top Ten list off dresses on Style.com? Nr. 1 is Nicole Kidman and nr. 10 Angelina Jolie. And some dresses I really like are not on the list at all and some are in the middle. Neither Kidman or Jolie wouldn’t be on my list.

#13 Adriana on 02.24.09 at 9:24 am

LOL!!! MS BROOKLYN, NY I’m sure we do not hate Beyonce. But how beautiful she sings that dress looks like an old lamp or something…

#14 Ellington on 02.24.09 at 3:58 pm

You keep on keeping on MS BROOKLYN! ;)

Adriana I mentioned 1.37 of that YouTube clip because it was at that point that I could not take it anymore and I stopped watching it.
Yes Hugh Jackman is very talented I like him and most of his work.
I simply cannot abide award shows anymore they just seem like a parade of hubris and sycophants. It all takes too long and I would rather read a novel. A lot of it rings false with me. As I said I only like to see the dresses the next day, I really don’t care who wins or who won what.

#15 ANG3L on 02.24.09 at 5:56 pm

that dress might look like it’s frm a curtain but that curtain must be the best looking curtain ever

and if thats ugly why is everyone saying that angelina’s looks better beyonce looks 10x better than hers and other people

#16 Ellington on 02.24.09 at 9:16 pm

Sorry ANG3L but the best and the greatest curtain dresses belong to the Von Trapp children and to Scarlett O’Hara! No exceptions! : )

#17 Adriana on 02.25.09 at 7:17 am

Ellington dear, we had a lot off fun watching the Oscars and if the nominees are as great and interesting in 2010 as this year I watch it again. And the dresses that are discussed here is the “parade of the hubris and sycophants”!
Each their own? I don’t like Beyonce’s dress either but not for a second I’m gonna criticise or correct someone else who likes or even loves that dress. Because I see something else too…….I bet there are designers enough who would love it to bits if someone like Beyonce wears their dress(es) and makes PR for them at “the parade(s) of the hubris and sycophants” you bet! But no, Beyonce has apparantly an unconditional love and respect for her mother that she wore that dress. Good for her!

#18 diane on 02.25.09 at 9:56 am

I agree with Ms. Brooklyn there are a lot of haters when it comes down to Beyonce. I think Beyonce looks good in what ever she wears. she got a body on her and leg beautiful.
who cares about her dress.

#19 Ellington on 02.25.09 at 10:53 am

Adriana I never said that I did not like Beyonce’s dress and I did not criticise anyone for liking it. I said that I did not like that dress on her, also I don’t think that it looks like curtains. I was just making fun of the fact that some did say that her dress looked like it was made from curtains and everyone knows that the best curtain dresses are the Von Trapp kids and Scarlett O’hara’s. : )
Some of the Dereon line is pretty, I actually like the blue dress that Beyonce wears in the ad for their collection.
As for the Oscars, I am glad that you had fun watching them. I as I said cannot abide them as I find them trite and tedious, and yes to me it is a parade of hubris and sycophants.
My opinion of course, and each to his or her own.

#20 acidhorse on 02.26.09 at 3:28 am

@Ellington… I am sure everybody is thinking it, but too polite to upset you on your crazy train, but…

You have a Barbie doll that you named after yourself?

Hubris and sycophants… pot and kettle…

#21 Ellington on 02.26.09 at 10:55 am

Yes I have a Barbie doll that was given to me by a good friend and it was actually named by her not me.
Do you understand the definition of sycophant and hubris?
Acid house, before you make statements get some facts and a dictionary, oh crazy one. ; )

#22 Ellington on 02.26.09 at 11:37 am

To Acidhorse:
Firstly I got your name wrong. Sorry.
Secondly I called you a crazy one, that was uncalled for as I do not know you, as you do not know me.
For that I do apologize.
But I must ask why on earth do you take personal umbrage with me having a Barbie Doll that sits on one of my bookshelves, and saying that I think that Beyonce’s Oscar dress would make a great Barbie dress? And secondly me saying that I think that the Oscars are a parade of sycophants and hubris?
How on earth is that a slight to you, and how is what I said to be deemed as being on a crazy train? is it because you don’t like what I said? Fine, state how you feel and deconstruct it but no personal attacks.

Ellington

hmmm.. I was just saying that it’s an ugly Dereon dress, no need to call the cavalry!

Beyonce’s body can definitely look good in many designs, that’s why she should give up the mermaid thing. But that golden pattern is too much for me. A week after and I still can’t cope with her dress choice!

#24 sArah on 03.03.09 at 9:17 am

She could have appeased that dress with better hair and make up.. It’s not the best dress, but she could have pulled it off in a better manner- it has some potential.

#25 Penelope on 03.03.09 at 9:30 pm

I like the over the top- and when I saw a flash of it on the tv, I actually liked it. After having a good look at the dress now, yes I have to agree it is too much. I actually quite like the gold and black print, but it should’ve been done in a different way. Keep it on the torso and top of the legs. Get rid of the fishtail- that is what makes it look too much and too cheap. If it had’ve been a short cocktail number, it would’ve been much better.

oooooooooooooo shum e fort je a te fala nga jeta lena dhe beli edhe eli qao mpuq e ki

#27 Callie on 03.18.09 at 12:14 pm

She looks horrible most of the time. This dress looks like carpet in an outdated room. Shag and velvet. It’s ugly and long. In addition, she looks stuffed into the girdle she’s wearing. The mermaid look went out of style in the 50s. And it doesn’t look good on anyone with hips and legs so big. What’s next…what’s up with the black eyeliner extending beyond normal points.

She needs a real stylist…someone other than her mother.

#28 tameka on 06.10.09 at 12:07 pm

shame you really don’t like beyonce .. it seems like you never have anything nice to say about her in your articles.. oh well its people like you that make her as great as she is.. so keep hating even though u know ul never be half the woman she is.. she is an inspiration curtains and all.. she is indeed a diva

#29 kpriss on 06.10.09 at 12:32 pm

she is! but no reason to praise her faux steps! (who said I can resist her Single Ladies? ;) )
