Birkenstock Sandals Still Fashionable This Summer!

If there’s one thing Emmanuelle Alt loves to put in her Vogue Paris, especially during the summer issues, is a looooot of skin! Bare skin. Highly tanned and muscled up. This month’s pictorials have plenty of that! Anja Rubik was just a modest example, not to mention the very cover!

But if you look closely, there’s another must in Vogue Paris’ pages! Birkenstock sandals! Much like white court shoes, I was really against socks in sandals. They just look like a certified fashion fail. And still, when it makes its way up in Vogue’s pictorials, you kinda start thinking about pairing your Arizona Birkenstocks with thick wool socks. Don’t you?

I do, I’m a simple girl and I loooove my Birkenstock sandals! Wouldn’t trade them for a world of Louboutins (anyone up for the challenge? wink) So during those looong summer nights when we just lounge around on the backyard terrace, I cozy up in a blanket if it gets frisky and I would definitely slip in a pair of warm socks between me and my Birkenstocks.

Because Vogue said so! (the pictures show a very tanned Aymeline Valade playing some sort of working girl/Tomb Raider heroine for Giampaolo Sgura‘s lenses, available thanks to the wonderfully passionate people over at tfs)

Not on the streets but inside at home I keep on wearing Birckenstocks. In or out of fashion. Until now only the toe-Birckenstocks but since the Summer won’t show up I am seriously thinking to buy these ones as well to wear with socks :)

People are saying it will be a year without Summer, similar to 1816… if it happens hopefully some critics will start to believe in climate change.

ana, I think that global warming is well known to many for years. But money seems to be more important than anything else…..
The conclusions of the Club of Rome in the early ’70’s have always been ignored…..:(
