Saying how gorgeous Karlie Kloss looked at the 2013 Grammy Awards reminded me of a complete Fashion Fail on tonight’s Red Carpet: Katy Perry. Her sea green dress signed by Gucci (part of the Resort 2013 collection) was a very risqué choice for the entertainer, especially given her generous cleavage.
She noticeably tried to make it as seventies as possible, just like the original’s collection model styling demanded, but all she succeeded was to stretch the fabric beyond the designer’s imagination. Her date, on and off boyfriend John Mayer surely had no objection to that!
But what a fashion fail statement she made tonight! Katy Perry’s Gucci Green dress wasn’t unpleasant by itself, it just didn’t do her body any justice and was in no circumstance eye – pleasing. Outside the boudoir or the privacy of one’s home. (I updated with images of Li Bingbing who’s showing Katy Perry how to wear the Gucci dress without stretching the life and the style out of it! Honestly I like the dress and I prefer it on her. I hate how we put thin women in dresses which makes it look like a 12 year old boy in a dress and then a woman who has a figure gets in it she gets slammed by comments like, “but all she succeeded was to stretch the fabric beyond the designer’s imagination” which is not true. The dress does not looked stretched at all.
As far as Vulgar goes, she is an actress not royalty. She is a type of role model but she is one of beauty and I for one do not see anything vulgar about the dress or how it is worn. It is s*y yes, but not vulgar as this is in no way offensive. True i wouldn’t wear the dress to church if I was her but I would not wear it either if I was the skinny boy model either.
Jealous much? She looks gorgeous. And if DEFINITELY does her gorgeous body justice lol. Why wouldn’t?

This was a fashion fail? You’re amazingly ignorant to even suggest that.
If you call drapping a stick the proper way to present any dress, you fully drank too much of the fashion coolaid. Katy is a woman and is shaped like one. Simple as that. She dresses up that dress. On her the dress becomes a gem — on the models, just another dress design. A good design should compliment the female form, not be in the forefront draping a stick figure.
With a body like hers it doesn’t matter at all what she wears. For men. I understand completely, not too difficult. No problem. ;)
Well, it’s obvious she doesn’t have a stylist or she ignors the one she does have. She’s too pretty to vulgar-up clothes like that. I’d help her if she wants to look like a star.
Honestly? I’m not one for unnecessary cleavage but I think Katy wears it far better than the young model in the fourth image down. The woman on the right looks like a child draped in a sheet and it doesn’t seem to fit her well at all. Maybe she needs better support in the chest area? ( a better bra. Not cleavage.) The lady on the left in the first image seems fine though. Her body type seems better suited to wear it like that. I’d either suggest making something to fit more than one body type or stop being petty about it. It’s not even vulgar. I’ve seen far, far more revealing clothes.
Also annoyed that anyone with naturally larger breasts is suddenly more ‘vulgar’ than someone without. We don’t need other women being petty and gross about it either. Having cleavage present on it’s own without the intent isn’t se*ual.
Fair enough! I do see your points and agree with most of it – especially with the part where labeling vulgar one’s own body for no reason is beyond pointless and 2nd grade-ish. However, I stand tall defending my argument – the fabric of that dress is stretched way farther than good style allows it. Stretchy and body hugging garments should be worn in the limitation of their natural elasticity, allowing for flexibility space. Showing the curves, not sticking them in your face. The overexposure result of an over-stretched, over-hugging garment is similar to the one obtained when sticking something under a person’s eyes at 2 inches away from their eyes. I see the curves, I don’t need her to shove them in my eyes forcefully. It loses all grace and elegance, style and appeal.
