Going through the Fall Winter 2015 2016 collections, I synthesized the main style coordinates to help you paint a better picture of the season’s wardrobe.
As far as the accessories go, the absolute novelty of the Fall Winter 2015 2016 handbags arena is a design seen in Celine and Marni’s collections. Two Fashion Houses known for their iconic-level handbags and for being truly innovative in their approach. Coordinated with the general perspective, military & fur, these new sling/holster bags deserve the trend spotlight – but do they deserve a place in your wardrobe as well?
It always puzzles me how fashion keeps spinning on itself like a skillful ballerina: every couple of years, a ‘new’ trend emerges – one that looks exactly like something we’ve seen before. No visible upgrade, no substantial improvement, fashion is re-editing itself countless times, with a brighter label and a steeper price: I distinctively remember similar diagonal backpacks from 20+ years ago.
Some of the crossbody straps came with oversized pockets, just like the ones sent by Celine on the Fall Winter 2015 2016 catwalk! Or the sling pouches seen in Marni’s Fall Winter 2015 2016 collection. Surprisingly, though, I still can’t find any reference about these two types of bags in any of the prestigious online boutiques – any feedback is much appreciated!

In all honesty, I’m always surprised to see practical details in designer collections – it’s hard to imagine that someone who’s ready to pay $3,000 on a bag, would ever be in a situation when the handbag is less than arm-candy on display. The hands-free enhancement offered by this type of sling/messenger handbags will only enable the wearer to carry more designer shopping paper bags.
So unless these make an appearance outside the Fashion Week tents, I doubt they’ll make a big style sensation among fashionistas and snobbistas worldwide. Keeping the sidewalks under scrutiny, let me know if you find anything, and so will I if I scoop any of the new sling bag designs before you! (images styledotcom)
