Although more relaxed than other Red Carpets we’ve seen, the 2014 Critics Choice Awards has seen some gorgeous ladies and equally fabulous clothes tonight!
Something must be clouding my fashion judgement as, again, I’m picking pretty much the same best dressed at the Critics Choice Awards:
Sandra Bullock in Lanvin purple ruffled dress
I have the strongest conviction that Gravity works wonders for Sandy for not only she filled my fashion heart with sartorial joy at the Golden Globes a couple of days ago, but she’s really making my Critics Choice Awards evening with her fabulous Lanvin dress!

And you know I have a serious weakness for ruffles! As I do for Sandra Bullock! Isn’t she gorgeous? Based on a design from Alber Elbaz’ Spring 2014 collection, Sandra’s Lanvin raspberry dress was custom made to match the beauty of its wearer!
Lupita N’Yong’o in Calvin Klein white dress
the absolute revelation of this awards season, 12 Years a Slave’s actress Lupita N’Yong’o is making it to the Best Dressed top list again! Although I do prefer her Golden Globes red Ralph Lauren dress, the white Calvin Klein collection gown she’s wearing for the 2014 Critics Choice Awards is nothing short of flawless!

Just like the lady herself! I watch her on the Red Carpet and listen to her interviews and I’m perpetually blow away by her natural grace and poise! I’m so happy that, every now and then, Hollywood is blessed with such talented and amazing human beings as Lupita!
Cate Blanchett in Lanvin green dress
talking about fabulousness – wasn’t Cate simply stunning tonight? She was wearing a deep green Lanvin gown from the Pre Fall 2014 collection with a wide, black edgy Lanvin belt (from the same season) and looked majestic. Her hair style simply with just the left side tucked behind the ear was glammed up by her really bold red lips.
Jessica Chastain in Nina Ricci green dress
something colorful was in the air tonight on the 2014 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet! Jessica Chastain’s dress was a wonderfully feminine, flattering choice but I admit her braided hairdo stole the show this time!
(on side note, there were many ladies wearing green dresses on the 2014 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet. Besides the ones I already mentioned above, I’d like you to note other stars in green dresses: Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Lauren Miller, Oprah)
Kristen Bell in Pamela Roland black dress
I honestly don’t know if it was the hairdo or the Pamela Roland black gown, but Kristen Bell was definitely one of the best dressed at the 2014 Critics Choice Awards!
This Pamela Rolland design was yet another custom-made gown for the actress, as many of the stars walking the Red Carpet tonight had special, personalized dresses from the designers collections.
Amy Adams in Roland Mouret pink dress
unlike her American Hustle character, Amy Adams is keeping her look more on the lovely and less on the provocative side at the 2014 Critics Choice Awards tonight. Pink could very well be her color as she looks radiant and stylish tonight. I’m happy she opted for a simple wavy hairdo as a more complicated style would’ve been too heavy on the already statement-making dress!
Margot Robbie in Elie Saab black jumpsuit
it’s hardly about what she’s wearing – as the black jumpsuit from Elie Saab is definitely not one of my favorite looks tonight. But The Wolf from Wall Street’s actress Margot Robbie’s attitude is that of an absolute Diva! What I loved about her outfit at the 2014 Critics Choice Awards? Her Alexander McQueen black clutch, biensur!

Juliette Lewis in Zac Posen red dress
going back to her rebel movie years and her rock’n roll spirit, it’s really hard to imagine how Juliette chose her 2014 Critics Choice dress from Zac Posen! But I’m actually happy she did as the gown looks fabulous on her! Juliette all radiant, smiling bright is a wonderful sight on the red carpet!
Camila Alves in Paule Ka red dress
opting for a bright dress was a good idea as Camila is feminine and subtle but fabulous. The bow waist detail makes the ruffled leg slit – one of the Red Carpet trends this year – a concealed sartorial move. I also love that she kept her hair in a really slick, mid-parted bun and her makeup to a minimal so that her natural beauty would carry the look!
(as Camila and Juliette Lewis, there were more red dresses on the 2014 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet: Christina Applegate and Sarah Belcher looked fabulous in their fire-red gowns!)
Meryl Streep in Stella McCartney blue dress
this was one of the most surprising yet stylish looks of the night! Meryl hardly missteps on the Red Carpet but she absolutely made a fashion statement at the 2014 Critics Choice Awards with her blue Stella dress!
Adele Exarchopoulos in Louis Vuitton see through black dress
this was the absolute fashion disaster of the 2014 Critics Choice Awards! And not because of the Louis Vuitton dress per se, but because the young actress wore it over a pair of biker shorts. Leggings are not pants, dear, didn’t you know that?
There were many feminine dresses, colorful dresses for this event. The designers and stars alike collaborated for special, classy outfits. That really made the task of choosing a best dressed lady really difficult for us, watching at home (or even for first-hand participants at) the 19th Critics Choice Awards edition.
I’d like to make more special mentions for some of the stars in attendance which may not be the most obvious choices for the ‘best dressed’ title but still managed to look astonishing!
Abigail Breslin was unrecognizable in her Badgley Mischka dress while Emma Thompson looked radiant as fabulous in her flowery coat and gown ensemble. I think Leslie Bibb was perfect from head to toes, especially her smile!
Brie Larson was wearing a floor-length flowery Escada dress, Julia Roberts was a lovely in a Juan Carlos Obando gown while Melissa McCarthy really did it this time by designing her own dress! (in collaboration with her stylist George Kotsiopoulos and her dressmaker, Daniela Kurrle). Her Kimberly McDonald chunky jewelry pieces were impressive! (the clutch is from Jimmy Choo). For me it was Lupita all the way!
She looks stunning and ever so elegant in all of her choices!
I loved her red GG gown and I adore her white CCA gown, she is most def a Calvin Klein chica and they are so lucky to have her!
Cate B’s choices I always love because Cate is a fascinating actor and she understands what looks good on her and she makes daring choices!
Green is my favourite colour and it was really nifty to see Oprah and Julia LD wearing different versions of the colour in different lengths and materials. They both looked lovely. : )
Meryl S is the coolness and she ( like Diane Keaton) can wear whatever they want and I will always appreciate it.
Melissa M looked great I think and I really loved this dress on her, far more than what she wore at the GG’s, I am sure her Oscar gown will be lovely as she seems to improve each red carpet.
I as I have said cannot abide award shows, but I am always look the next day to see what was worn. So thanks ever so for compiling this Kpriss! I look forward to the next day after the Oscars. : )
P.S. Kpriss, do you think that you could do a compilation of what the mature female actors wore? I am always interested to see their choices, sadly not much attention is paid to them but they deserve the spotlight too! : )
Oh and I love the colour of Sandra B’s gown but I was not a fan of the ruffles.
But her hair and her belt were really nifty looking! : )
Oh I forget to mention that Lupita’s GG gown was Ralph Lauren but you knew that, my sentence made it sound like both her gowns were Calvin Klein.
; )
Ellington, I can only hope that Melissa will improve with every new Red Carpet, I really dislike her stylist choosing such uninspired things for her to wear! :(
aww, and thank you! You know I searched high and low for this gown and realized that so many dresses were custom made (which is a great thing for the ones wearing them) I can’t really come up with a designer original to compare. Then again, who needs to compare Lupita to a model anyway? <3
