You’re a fashion follower but you want your wardrobe to be both stylish, trendy and practical, active? Vivienne Westwood Red Label could have some interesting fashion points for you in the Spring Summer 2014 collection!
Dame Viv is the perfect fashion activist. Dressing up and acting up like a fashionista with a conscience, Vivienne Westwood is always militating. Her tireless creative self is projecting fights on the catwalk and she’s proposing haute arms for her stylish soldiers. Gorgeous sandals and ankle booties are just a modest part of her militant arsenal!
But oh, what a fashionable way to state your mind! (don’t stop here, there’s so much more after the jump!)
Vivienne Westwood sent down 23 looks on the London Fashion Week Catwalk, making her Vivienne Westwood Red Label Collection presentation more about mindful fashion buying than about the trends du jour. And that is something we should all keep in mind when making our next season’s shopping list:
Buy less, choose well, make it last. Quality rather than quantity: That is true sustainability. If people only bought beautiful things rather than rubbish, we wouldn’t have climate change!
And judging from dame Viv’s shoes only, she clearly didn’t invent the wheel. More like she put a new spin on it, injected new life into the old shoes. The flat sandals are simple and basic from afar, but a closer look will reveal not only unexpected details but an unmistakable sturdy construction. Just as an apparently simple flowerprint dress in her collection is covered in sequins undetectable from a distant look.
Nothing is quite what it seems in Vivienne Westwood Red Label Spring Summer 2014 collection. And that’s something that runs aplenty on the London Fashion Week catwalks. Take the simple booties from this runway here: they look plain but that colorful patch around the ankles – don’t they look like bandannas? To me they do.
Or the sandals that seem to be wrapped around the calf with fabric straps: the straps come from a particularly catchy pair of fishnet socks. Not from the sandals per se.
The leather strapped and buckled high heeled platform sandals I started this piece with – that’s where my heart is! I would love to wear those, like a fashion gladiator that I am, battling the miles and counting the style steps! (images via styledotcom)
