Marilyn is the Myth. Recreating her or following her footsteps (in some ways) will always be hard or impossible.
Bert Stern has taken up a challenge – recreating Marilyn’s “Last Sitting” photographs taken while she was drunk and almost asleep (not to mention naked) at the Hotel Bel-Air. This last photo shoot was taken six weeks before Marilyn’s death (or an apparent barbiturate overdose) and is showing more of the 36years-old woman behind the pin up.
Choosing Lindsay Lohan for such a monumental task as recreating his Marilyn Monroe “Last Sitting” was, Stern says, due to his interest in controversial women. However, Lindsay’s interest in Marilyn ads up to the strangeness of this photo shoot. It seems that everyone’s expecting the follow up to this photographic equivalent of moving into a haunted house.
Here is a woman who is giving herself to the public,” Lohan said, about the Monroe photos, when we spoke the next day by phone. “She’s saying, ‘Look, you’ve taken a lot from me, so why don’t I give it to you myself.’ She’s taking control back.” Like any tabloid veteran, Lohan understands the potency of a photograph, and that the best way to respond to a society that views you only as an image might just be on its own terms.
Personally I found the pictures far from any aesthetic resemblance. Even if both women were photographed by the same person (Bert Stern), the result is quite different. And I’m not talking physical differences or wardrobe similarities. I’m talking about being authentic and being a fake. I worked out a similar panel of photos for a better chance to see the similarities/differences between the two “Last Sitting”s.
What do you say? are these pictures meant to show something else than a failed “Last Sitting” with a fail-to-look-alike-Marilyn? Or it’s just another one of those Marilyn-like photo-shoot?

Interesting, to say the least. It is important to point out that Marilyn was 36 when she did the Bert Stern photo shoot, and Lindsay 21, only.
Why not?
I mean if Nicole Kidman is allowed to do this, while being older than MM was when she did it, why not the opposite way, right?
Lindsay won’t be the last actress, starlet, rock star who is helping herself out with the ‘Marilyn look.’
From what I understand, she is also a great admirer of Marilyn Monroe’s legacy.
What I still do not understand is, and I made that clear in other public blogs and websites is, where were those super wealthy entertainers, when Marilyn Monroe’s legacy needed help.
When Marilyn Monroe was portrayed like a cheap hooker, through the fake items of the collection of a criminal who was supported by the estate of Marilyn Monroe–Anna Strasberg.
I filed a lawsuit against this project, which was the biggest exhibition fraud in the recorded history.
All connected to the American movie legend Marilyn Monroe.
Marilyn Monroe will be forever be remembered and copied and sold out over and over, but she will remain beautiful, young and more alive than anybody else from Hollywood, when Hollywood won’t exist anymore.
There is Venus from Botticelli, there is Mona Lisa from DaVinci and there is Marilyn by Warhol.
I personally find it strange, to say the least, that Bert Stern is photographing so many different people the same way, when we all KNOW and SEE that there forever will be only one unique Marilyn Monroe–and it makes me wonder who is next?
Maybe Hillary Clinton–even if she loses against Obama?

Quiet honest and frankly: compared to Nicole Kidman as Marilyn Monroe, which you were showing just a week or so ago–I do and that 100% prefer LL and that is Lindsay.

Wow… Lindsay isnt a naturally beautiful girl, she spent her entire life trying to look like britney spears, jessica simpson and marilyn… and failed again miserably. Seriously… If anyone was gunna attempt this Lindsay was the wrong person. Poor poor girl in desperate needs for publicity, her career is plopping

Okay, so i seriously LOVE lindsay, but…those pics are just sooo bad!!, i hate to say it, cause i really like her, why..i dont know, but it almost seems like whoever took the pictures purposely wanted to screw her up, the wig looks terrible, all it is is naked pictures of her..bad pics at that.

Well i gotta say the one where Lindsay is on the bed i actually thought that was Marilyn, and was wondering why they had it in the Lindsay clutter. The rest really don’t look like Marilyn, But the photos of Lindsay are very nice i like them all :)

I love Marilyn and I hate Lindsay. She looks nothing like Marilyn. Marilyn is a classic beauty and Lindsay just looks fake.
Lindsay looks so bad. she has no shape what-so-ever and it looks like she was trying to hard to be Marilyn. I’m sorry to say, but this photo shoot of lindsay was a waste of film. Her boobs look big and sloppy and she has no hips like marilyn. Megan Foxx would have done this shoot justice because unlike lindsay, she has her own kind of sexiness without having to try. Lindsay has no sexiness at all.
I agree with most everyone here. She doesn’t have any curves except for those fake boobies. She isn’t very pretty in these photos either. They need to leave this photo shoot to Marilyn and Marilyn only. However, there are so many beautiful models and acresses who could’ve done this shoot much better. Bad choice of a model I say. What about Scarlett Johansson?? She has real beauty.

I always think it is strange to redo something that has already been… why can’t people just leave Marilyn to their imagination? When will they learn that a person now could never live up to their expectations or dreams (or in this case an old legend)? Even if an exact copy of MM appeared today, she still wouldn’t be the same. Today is a different world, and she is best left to be remembered, not copied.
